Thank you for your kind comment, it will be a DCFC U21 team and maybe one or two first teamers who need a run out, we always try to play the Rams in preseason and its usually one of our first games but securing the safety of your club that plays a big part in the Derbyshire football landscape as a whole took priority as it should.
We "blew" promotion by not having the spending clout of other teams at that level, we aren't bank rolled and our staff is 90% volunteers who work full time hours in our community. Our income is simply what we make on matchdays and through sponsors but costs are rising and it is a constant battle to stay above water.
We were unable to field a team against Alfreton Town due to a mix of injuries, player holidays and work commitments. Most of our lads work a nine to five and so they use their work holidays throughout the season, it was unfournate but these things happen.

Signing recently released youngsters with an excellent attitude and a point to prove is infinitely better - not to mention more exciting - than the approach which got us into financial strife and ultimately out of the Championship in the wrong direction. 

Maybe we can give him first team experience so he can earn a move back to Palace?

In my view we’re lucky he hasn’t been poached by another club, then again it doesn’t seem like there was a scramble to sign him up.
It’s a good deal for the club, experienced pro who can still do a job and support Roberts development at left back, plus we haven’t had to shell out. 

Nobody is going to whisk him away from us. 

Looking forward to playing for Wimbledon 

will just be some under 23s and 18s  I think, give this a miss the day before the opening game save some money. Notice Matlock blew promotion last year could not score and think they have only scored 1 goal all pre-season and actually could not even field a team against Alfreton, could be a predictable 0-0

Took my lad when he was 6. Vulcan Street Popside 1989. 
He loved it from day one, like you say, time alone with Dad, being treated like a grown up. 
I would suggest maybe teaching her some of the (more repeatable) songs), try to convey the "day", the atmosphere, the importance of supporting your club etc.
Good luck and don't feel sorry for condemning your child to a footballing lifetime of misery! ?

Take a distraction, like an Ipad or similar.
When the footballs not so good, it helps to have something else distracting, make sure you've downloaded Peppa Pig beforehand, as the WiFi won't work.
Maybe take one for your daughter, too, in case she gets bored.

I agree.  Our fans are on as much as a learning curve as the players.  One or two of our oppositions in League 1 will bring one or two coaches of fans - are we going to laugh at them or welcome them?
