While I've appreciated Paul Warne's efforts since he joined us, it's clear our form under his leadership has been dreadful. After a string of defeats that see us languishing in the wrong part of the table for a club of derbys pedigree.
Warne was brought in to turn things around, but the results speak for themselves - it simply hasn't happened. The squad looks devoid of ideas and motivation lately. Though saying goodbye is difficult, we need fresh tactics and enthusiasm to start winning again.
As much as I respect Warne, the club must come first. Bringing in new leadership gives us the best chance of promotion and getting Derby back where we belong. The fans deserve better and have suffered long enough.
I know making a managerial change is disruptive, but our poor form shows something needs to change. With the right appointment, we can still turn our season around. But sticking with the status quo means more disappointment.
It's time we start looking forward. Let's thank Warne for his efforts and begin the search for a manager who can bring success back to Derby County. Our club's future is at stake.

The question was literally framed as "It's important not to get carried away with outside noise isn't it?" so Barker had every right to answer the question using the very same phrase.
Some people will just choose to take offence to anything if it fits with their preconceived narrative.

Has Paul Warne just given the players carte blanche to disobey his orders, then?

There’s been plenty of polls and a few ‘Warne Out’ comments, but thought I’d start the definitive ‘Warne Out Out’ post, which as fans of a particular Sarf London comedian means ‘properly out!’
No messing, I was on his side at first, but am tired of the utter banality of our football; mid table mediocrity and I don’t care what he did at Rotherham.
Please can we bring back some McLaren-esque footy, something to actually ‘entertain’ the fans? I’m sure I read somewhere that football should be entertaining 🤷‍♂️

I reckon there's been some mass hypnosis of football fans over the the last few years. Somehow, people now believe that tedious, short, sideways passing for most of a match is good football. It isn't, it's turgid anti-football nonsense. The brand of football peddled by Clement, Cocu and Rosenior is the least entertaining way of playing imaginable. I'm just amazed that so many people have been convinced by the excitement free, safety of the slow build up. It's Emperors new clothes writ large.
Warne's problem isn't that his brand of football isn't entertaining or effective. A fast passing game with early crosses and a high press is a great way of playing. The trouble is that we aren't playing that way. We're too slow to see the pass, too scared to take risks, not pressing as a team and delaying the crosses until the defence are organised. Warne's massive problem, and the reason he will soon be gone, is that  he has failed to get the team to play Warneball.
I wonder if that's a facet of being at a bigger club? Is he looking too far forward? There's a big thing been made that most of the recruitment has been of players with Championship experience. I suspect at Rotherham, that wasn't a thing. The players brought in were younger athletes with just enough ability to play in an organised League 1 side, but that was perfect for Warneball.
The players bought in here have more proven ability, but are that bit older and slower.  Maybe they are also less mouldable, having already seen how football is played at a higher level. Is that why a proven League 1 manager appears to be a poor fit for Derby County? He's adjusted his style for the bigger club and diluted his winning formula.
After 50 years of watching football, the common factor with successful teans has just dawned on me. Our best sides are built around the striker's style. Warne is trying to shoehorn the strikers into his style. Yet our best managers worked out what their best strikers needed to be the most successful and set the team up to deliver it for them.
Chris Martin was a donkey for a lot of his career, but as a pivot striker with Bryson, Ward and Russell running past and Eustace or Thorne feeding him, he looked like a world beater.
Look at the movement of Biano, Wanchope and Sturridge - all made possible by three central defenders and a holding midfielder.
Hector and O'Hare - fed by Hinton and constantly assisted by Gemmil.
Stevie Howard, Charlie George, Saunders and Goddard...etc. Even Nigel fell on a system with Shefki Kuqi starring that briefly looked brilliant until he inexplicably replaced Kuqi with Young. Warne himself accidentally got a winning formula last year with McGoldrick in the 9.5 role (yes I made that term up, but you know what I mean).
My conclusion is that the style doesn't hugely matter, as long as it suits the best strikers available at the club.

It’s a stupid amount of money to travel to away games nowadays, you’d expect a level of competence above what we’re giving as a MINIMUM.
I wasn’t there, but followed Radio Derby and the fan chatter on here and it sounds like we couldn’t make 3 passes for the majority of the match 🤷‍♂️ what the hell is that about?
The ONLY crumb of comfort is that a new manager CAN turn things around very quickly, I again think of Mac when he took over from Clough Jnr.
But, Clowes needs to act and we need to get the RIGHT man, and that’s the million-dollar question, who is right for Derby right now 🤷‍♂️

Some people underestimate how transformative a manager can be. Many of the players in the Mac team were actually quite average, who have done nothing of note before or after that time.
There must be some assistant manager at a PL club who wants the step up. Similar to Ipswich with McKenna. As I've said in previous topics, we need someone with a knowledge of football to oversee it on behalf of Clowes and Pearce. Someone who studies football and knows where to find the right manager etc.

    I don’t understand this view?

We’ve got players that are much closer to a technical passing game than this more physical sort of game.

Im not saying get Mac back but if you look at what made his side successful:
defenders comfortable with passing the ball out - I think Nelson and Cash can do this (at this level) as well as Keogh and Buxton managed in the division above.

Solid central midfield options with one of the midfielders able to absolute dictate. I think we have strong options here when they’re not expected to just do doggies.

Dangerous wide players who can score - I think between Barkhuizen and NML as first choice and Wilson and Sibley as back ups we have enough to get us through until the loan market reopens. Remember the reason we don’t have many wider players is because Warne wanted wingbacks so it’s not inconceivable to think there are players out there we can utilise.

A forward who brought others into play and can finish chances. Obviously none of our strikers come close to Martin during that time but Waghorn is the best of the bunch at knitting things together and we’re a whole division lower. It won’t be as liquid but there’s enough of the key elements already within the squad to have a good go at it.

Derby lost to the mighty Shrews…
I lost £40, betting on a the Rams at 5/6, which I thought were decent odds given our starting line-up…
England snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the rugger…
England suffered a humiliating defeat against SA in the cricket…
My sons U15 footy team just lost 4-6 to a local rival that they have never lost to…
I very nearly captained Salah in my fantasy team, but didn’t…
If my mighty Miami Dolphins lose to Philadelphia tonight, I’m gonna curl up in a ball under the duvet and re-appear next weekend…
And then it all starts over 😎
As a sports fan, it really is the hope that kills you.
P.S. Get your money on Philly 😉
