What really stings and gives life to the allegations of a vindictive nature in all this, is the “the EFL reluctantly” .. why reluctant ? There was some wrong doing, the Independent panel gave a sanction .. so that’s it .. why “reluctantly” ? It stinks as an attitude and is fundamentally wrong on so many levels. You have a system where there is a complaint and a system that provides for an independent panel to adjudicate but somehow the The body that represents the clubs, that drew up the system in the first place isn’t prepared to accept its outcome in an appropriate manner .. Why would you appeal or even reluctantly accept a verdict given by a system you designed ? The independent committee is designed to give a balanced view, to remove the partisanship the EFL shouldn’t be showing in any case , but clearly is.

Lads and lasses and anyone who is gender fluid.  Can anyone update me with the substance of this horror story.
have I missed something ? .. so the EFL aren’t appealing the 100k sanction ?

So all that’s left is what they decide to do after we re submit our accounts with the “approved” amortisation method ? … (not that it was ever approved or recommended at the time but ya know we are the EFL and we have a Tardis and if we want to get you we will ) so we are looking at anything from Scot free to circa 6 points in the coming season in the championship?
    cheers

Depending on where you look, it seems there are well over 30,000 accountancy firms in the UK so, to be ranked in the top 50 (which they are based on fee income) means that, whilst they may not be Deloitte or EY, they are one of the biggest. So, I suggest they do possess a reasonable amount of credibility.

That’s very damming and if you’ll forgive me, pretty weak  .. so just because a company isn’t a mega Corps means they have no credibility ? .. gosh look at the scandals surrounding many large multi accountancy companies. Tacky post, sorry.
So Jaguar or Maclaren arent’t top 5 car manufacturers by turnover or profit … but they have no credibility ?

No its not. In bold is surely meaning in relation to straight line amortisation:
"85) That does not seem to us to be of any consequence for the task before us – sanctioning the Club for the proven breaches – save perhaps to reinforce the view expressed above that, on the evidence before us, it is impossible for us to conclude that by virtue of the adoption of a non-compliant amortisation policy in each/any of the seasons in question, the Club(1) Was able to spend sums that it would not otherwise have been permissibly able to spend had it operated an amortisation policy that complied with FRS 102, and so(2) Gained a sporting advantage over other Championship clubs. As we have said, while the amortisation policy may well have had the consequence of depressing losses in the Club’s Annual Accounts in one or more of the seasons under scrutiny, it does not automatically follow that that meant that the Club was able to spend, or in fact spent more, on players in any season than it would otherwise have permissiblybeen able to do had it been operating an FRS 102-compliant amortisation policy"

Can we not just drag it on until next May? By that time we will have been promoted and be a Premier League club so won’t be an issue. ??

This is why we obviously went with the amortisation we did. It allowed us to kick the can down the road and become more strategic with our approach, but with the sale of pride park - I do think we will be under the limit anyway.
We started our amortisation approach long before the pride park sale, which I imagine was to keep us under the FFP (P&S) regs, however it ran away from us a fair bit when we lost out on players who we thought we could get some resale value on. We effectively bought a ton of players and lost them for nothing. I think at that point we decided to sell the ground. It kept us within the limit quite comfortably in the end, hence why I think we will be ok.
Player X could have been depreciated
    Year 1 - 10%
    Year 2 - 10%
    Year 3 - 50%
Year 4 - 30% (or 20% as I think we held some of the value)
But when we come to do our new accounts it will show:
    Year 1 - 25%
    Year 2 - 25%
    Year 3 - 25%
    Year 4 - 25%
If you look at year 3 on both examples, there isn't actually that much difference. I think that is perhaps why the initial fine isn't significant. It will all come out in the wash, of course, but the only thing we have done is kick the can down the road. I find that to be stupid in itself, very short-sighted, but ultimately the deprecation in both examples is going to 100% from entering and leaving.

The delay appears to be like a punishment in its own right if we cannot progress with transfers. This could maybe even go on until the window closes at this rate of progress.

jono got a reaction from Kathcairns in At What Point Do You Cancel Your Season Ticket?
I honestly don’t care if it is a bunch of kids .. They are, or will be the Rams .. they get my support and I’ll be buying my season ticket even if we are down to 11 players and a number 12 plus a reserve goalie and in league 2. ….BUT … I will only buy my ticket when I can go to a stadium that is as close to functioning normally as is reasonably possible. I don’t want lotteries for games where only 5k can go and it’s masks and stewards and you can’t do this or you can’t do that as far as the eye can see. .. The thing about football and watching it live .. it’s about letting your hair down, forgetting all the every day stuff for a couple of hours, getting away from it, downloading with something simple and straight forward .. us V them, give it your all. And afterwards, either basking in the moment or deciding to pick yourself up and have another go next week. … So I am not waiting for a new owner or the EFL and Machiavelli to do their stuff.. que sera sera … but I am waiting for Covid to be kicked in to the long grass.
