It’s interesting isn’t it. Not done and dusted yet. I can remember a couple of instances when a major supplier was owed eye watering amounts by a customer and ended up buying that customer for twopence. To a) keep the “customer” alive and b) effectively seize assets at negligible cost avoiding a payout of a few pence in the pound.
Not sure how this fits when Dell have charges on the primary assets already, but given that “goodwill” = us fans, is the only remaining one, they already own us in all but name. The remaining conundrum is that it is a loss making enterprise so taking it on means spending yet more money.

As I understand from reading comments on here from some who know a lot more about these things than me, as now the main creditor with charges on club assets, MSD are now the main stakeholder and they will have decision rights as to what happens next. Therefore if we do appoint administrators they will need to sanction it. Therefore they can step in and take control If they want to but if we do go into administration then that makes their intentions very clear they only want their investment back or someone else to take it on so they can continue to make the exorbitant interest.
Its going to be an interesting 24-48 hours.

often a company is put into administration by its bank, because the bank has got a loan default and has got to the end of the line. Directors who have given security to their lenders are not allowed to enter administration without giving 'notice of intention'. This allows the lender themselves to appoint and so to choose the administrator. That's what's going on superficially but what's going on below the surface remains to be seen

It's a strange one. I'd never heard of it in football - just 'we have gone into administration' or some similar phrase.

Some are saying that Dell were involved in the EFl negotiations. The club statement indicates that Dell have lent more as things have got tight (did they take out Gabay)?

We know from his clumsy attempts to sell the club (Samuelson, Alonso) that Mel has no corporate finance acumen. He has no restructuring experience either. Dell is packed full of aggressive clever MBAs who have been hardened in the tough world of US M&A and restructuring. It’s no contest.

we don’t know how much Dell is owed, but they are probably the economic owners of the club. If they have been involved with the EFl then either they are really worried about losses, or they are focused on making a killing by owning or selling the club.

The reason this matters is that Dell’s interests - like those of the club - are certainly best served by avoiding administration. They are probably in the driving seat. We should not regard administration as an inevitability just yet

    Sorry, misunderstanding I think.

. I was talking about the fairness in applying FFP rules equally. I don’t think this has happened. There are almost certainly those who have escaped it, those who have breached and others who are likely in breach but don’t seem to have been perused by the EFL, with as much vigour as they have used with us.

my additional comment about parachute payments was just to illustrate the farce that is FFP. Sure, you have to suck it up but there’s nothing wrong with agitating for a change of rules in that respect.

I was dreading protest and anger … there was none of it. There was Derby County Football Club. The team, the staff and the fans. Everyone gave  in a spirit to warm the most cynical  heart.

Rooney has been much maligned in some quarters. Talk of tactical naivety, only here for whatever reason but ..guess what.. the biggest part of a managers job is to get players to play for him … He’s done it, more than anyone in recent times Mac apart, despite being dealt a lousy hand.
Curtiss Davies .. We are so lucky to have such solid player with noble writ large through his whole persona. You’d walk through brick walls with a club captain like that. Talk about expressive, intelligent and articulate. (And he’s got a sense of humour) loved the interview … Curtis .. go and make babies and score some more !

Huge commitment from every player. Loud and proud fans take a bow.
Good game of football, we made space, shot freely (mostly) scored goals and worked for each other. Stoke got away with tackles that earned our lads yellow for similar efforts but the best team won .. no doubt at all.
Roos excellent again but MOM has to be Max .. playing further up the pitch where I like to see him, composed, good passing and a blinder of a goal .. loved it .. keeper was looking for him to play it wide, naaaa shift it to my right foot (looking in the wrong place sucker !  … Bang !

Everything else was what you want to see in a football game; some skill, some chances, some thundering tackles (Shinza .. it wasn’t a yellow )  some saves some misses (oh Ravell ? .. but you kept em guessing all afternoon so you’re allowed that one ) and real determination from your whole team along with 3 delicious points .. That’s 25% of the supposed deduction. Whether we go down or not we will be fighting all the way

    For me he gets a 2 …. Not 1 ?

Why not the one ? Simply this .. The 3 amigos were crooks that took money from the club and we were lucky that the “league of gentlemen” were there to pull us out of the mire
Mels tenure has after some nearly moments ended in a terrible tragic mess. A fool and his money are easily parted. I get the feeling that he maybe vain and this has been his / our downfall. He got in deeper than he thought and found that juggling didn’t work
I also understand that he has been seriously ill and the pandemic was a land mine going off in your back garden. Add in the stupidity of FFP / P and S which encourages reckless behaviour in a mad desire to break in to the prem while at the same time protecting relegated clubs via parachute payments.
We see gambling as a disease and gamblers victims of that .. All could at least philosophically be applied to Mel. It sounds daft but communication issues apart I bear no ill will, he tried, he failed, he made monumental errors of judgement in selecting advisors, managers, and executives.

Once the short term anger has dissolved I just feel sadness.

I'm really struggling to understand why we are going into admin.
We gambled too much on promotion and tried to find loopholes to escape the FFP rules. Whilst it was a stupid thing to do, it made some sort of sense. If/when it failed, it means points deductions and probable relegation. But it's not because the club ran out of money, it's because we spent more money than we were allowed.
How have we suddenly reached the point now where we don't have enough money for the club to continue functioning? Has Mel literally got no money left to keep the club going? If not, why has he now decided to stop funding the mess he created. Can't he just carry on paying the money until Jan, sell any high earners, sell the whole first team, and have a cheap team of kids? Or are most of the outgoings now just servicing debt with no end in sight? Just hope there is something else going on and this is necessary to push it through.

As a Forest fan I feel for you guys, it's not your fault but you find your club utterly screwed by someone who has seemingly gone insane while in charge. We had a vaguely similar issue when Nigel Doherty, a lifelong fan bought us, pumped in over 100 million and made bad decision after bad decision, football's a hard hard game to get involved in but from outside it does look like MM has completely lost the plot.
You can't blame the EFL, on the face of it Mel had all the right credentials to be a fit and proper owner and while there look to be many points at which he should have been stopped from what he was doing you have to assume that no one thought he was actually doing what he was doing and seemingly submitting at best vague accounts, at worst downright fraudulent. COVID didn't help anyone but its not to blame either.
A 12 point deduction is bad but worse looks like its coming and you have to think you can't stay up. I wish you luck in the first division.
