Definitely not my takeaway from the match & pretty odd moan given the heat & relative lack of away fans. Despite it being 35 degrees, thought the first half was very loud in particular. I was East Stand Block I & lively as ever there.

Away numbers meant we lost some of the usual back & forth with South Stand (apart from some verbals after the match) as they were separated by a few metres of empty seats. Oxford match will have been louder as were 2000 more of them. Plenty of engagement with East Stand though.

Not a moan simply stating an opinion

I do not want to get on anyones back at such an early stage of the season, but, our second half performances seem to be lacking.

Yesterday we hardly got out of our own half after the break.  Maybe its because the players are running out of steam, or could it be that teams are working out how to makes tweaks to play better against us? I'd suggest the later.

I hope LR works on this, because the game last week we really should of won, but, the second half we looked like a different team.

Yesterday we had a nervous 30+ mins trying to hang on.  Like I say, I'm not knocking LR so early, but, I think he needs to be able to address HT adjustments made by the opposition better than we currently are.

Good luck, you do realise they are off sale online today at 1pm so will only be available by phone or direct from the ticket office and must be collected. Let us know how you get on.

Is there a better chance getting them online or at the ground?

  4. For me the only players to look anything like were the RB, Curtis and Barks when he came on.

Very much a reality check and a clear indication of what we will be up against.

Agree that kicking from GK was very poor indeed. Decision making and final ball by most was all too often shocking.

Only one game but its clear that if teams sit off us (Hetha B) we will do well. If teams get in our face it will be tricky to put it mildly.

Going to take time to find our feet to work a style if play and get the best out of the likes if Collins.

Liked the look of the young LB. I can see him being an asset as they season goes on. If Fozzy was playing for a contract he will be waiting a good while longer

  5. We dont need anymore. A squad of 22 which includes a few youngsters and an ability to use some players in a variety of positions (Sibley, Knight, McGoldrick, young lad from Brighton.

What I like is that we have a squad which offers bite in midfield as well as guile. We also have out and out wideman but also those who can tuck in.

Very very pleased. All we need imo is Forsyth to sign on as we do need LB Cover

My point is, we’re still not blessed with goals. Bielik chips in with goals for anyone saying it’s a replacement for him.

We are not blessed with goals anywhere in this line up Collins aside. It’s a bell of a lot of pressure on him.

I hope TB and NML can step up and get close to double digits but the likes of Thompson, Bird, Knight have a goals return ratio which is extremely poor. Even McGoldrick will be a push to get to double digits. Hourihane scored one goal in 29 for Sheff Utd last season.

Understand you may disagree with my original post but are people not worried about where our goals will come from?

    Nope

  7. Collins may be the key to everything. We haven't had a battering ram since Stevie H and he did wonders.

The big difference between 1991/2 (and the collection of expensive kids bought on-masse) and now is experience. Most of the newbies will slip straight in. Look how the likes of Curtis, Jagielka and CKR slotted straight In previously.

Yes there are a lot more to pull together but I am expecting something great this season.

They seemed to take every player we had on trial and give them a contract, except the best one.  Shame he didn't get to stay.  If he had we'd still be in the championship. 4.5 k a week is a tremendous wage in everyday life but nowt for the championship nowadays.  I still suspect we sold Shinnie to facilitate Jagielkas wage till the end of the season and then got shafted at the last minute, losing two players and retaining none.

    Who was that???
