  1. It's obvious that our budget has to go way beyond just first team wages.

If we don't go up this season, next year we will go all-in s*** or bust mode as we will have no restrictions.

I agree with good business sense but we need to get out of this s*** heap league ASAP

How would you react to idiots shouting their mouths off that you are a paedo and taking the piss out of you losing your child? Having gone through the pain of losing my daughter I know how I would 🙄

  3. Genuine question so pls dont shoot me down if it is a generally known fact as I'm not in the area anymore.

Are the spend constraints due to EFL or DC?

If the former its no wonder we are struggling to buy players who can improve us.

If its the latter its a bigger worry as it shows we haven't got the monies available to add those players who can make a difference.

We struck lucky with DM last season. Without him we would have been top half at best

  4. I would take him as clearly we have no more than a few beans to spend which I still find bizarre.

I'm not sure if that is down to restrictions or monies made available by the board.

I would find it a sensible plan D as its obvious we had other irons in the fire which have most probably stalled as their clubs demanded a fee in excess of £100k.

I fully expect us to use the loan market to get a youngster or 2 with pace. Of those we signed last season one was a 7/10 setting aside he couldn't hit a cows ar$e with a banjo. All the others ranged from a 5/10 down to a 3/10.

We must do better this time around.

It worked though. We managed to beat West Brom, Barnsley, Peterborough and Wycombe playing passing football. We only beat Bolton and Charlton in 15 games against top half teams playing "unattractive football."

Good point. We struggled against most of the top teams last season.

We haven't really improved the quality further up the pitch so that may be a trend that continues. Only argument to counter that is that there are more s*** teams than good this coming season. So long as we batter all of them we will be in decent shape

  6. Fwiw  as some well considered posts on here.

Overall the gk and dec upgrades have put us in a far stronger position to last season. I agree creativity in midfield could be a problem but we do still have prem/ Championship quality already there in Conor, Bird and Smith. Rooney is good back up and Robinson will be knocking on the door this year.

Lack of pace further forward is where the loan market will be utilised. I reckon we will get 2 season loans for a wide player and striker. It actually wouldn't really suprise me if we see Dobbin here again next year.

There are done decent looking players from the younger age group who may makeca break through after Xmas which could help to boost numbers towards the end of the season.

All those teams that robbed us blind should hang their heads in shame. The kids they took could have been our meal ticket instead we got pittance. Hopefully with the u18s looking strong that will push on into the u21s who were weak last season

Rhodes will demand big wages (on par with Hourihane) and at 33 y/o has surely seen his best days, 9 league goals in 58 games over the last two years with the terriers doesn’t scream goal scorer to me. Why is Johnson Clarke Harris (Posh) not being looked at? At 28 y/o entering his prime, a proven goal getter at this level, transfer listed by posh, in the last year of his contract and will cost less in wages. Seems a real no brainer to me.
Use the Knight fee and go and get him!

    Maybe we are.....

Its funny you dont really notice it until you take your kids! But not good in a specific family area. If its a one off in heat of moment would let it go but if someone persistent out of character with rest of the area would probably report them.
Always going to get it at football but its everywhere these days, especially school snd online, so are you not going to take them out? At least at football its humorous usually.
We're obsessed with supporting dcfc and have brought both my sons from age of two. Personally I hate swearing for the sake of it. Now mine are old teenagers.  They have always understood to make up their own word for "those" songs (as do I actually!). And we have always had the "what you hear in football stays at football" or you dont go rule. And have always laughed with them at one-off rants - there is nothing my youngest likes more than someone randomly standing up for a mad out of character rant. Similarly his favourite moment was a young kid standing up ranting about someone being a "scallywag".
Mine havent grown up to swear generally in life so dont stress about it too much as you'll spoil it for yourself. There's often enough to be stressed about on the pitch!

They are my Grandchildren so I can't really accept what I 'maybe" would if they were my own. Also it's not an isolated incident.

I'll stick to my guns on this one but I'm very suprised by some of the responses

Which bit is actually the family area?  Not entirely sure now.  We are in the north stand lower about halfway between the corner and goal, with goal to our right.  Is that the family area?  I do occasionally let rip with a little Anglo Saxon ( I did yesterday at their number 6). It’s not something that I do constantly through the game though and most games I don’t, although there are a few around us that do.  The north stand (especially the lower) has always been pretty relaxed and easy going both in the seats and in the concourse, and the people tend to be either older folk or multi generational families like ours, not so many groups of “boisterous” lads.  I guess that there is more being in or the near the family area than the fruity language rule?

For myself I do try and restrain myself, but like I said occasionally I do slip.  I have taken my lad since he was 4  (he is now 14). It has had no negative effect on his language,  I told him from an early age that he was not to use the words he heard, and he doesn’t, he plays on a Sunday, and his mates certainly do, but he doesn’t (other than what I would describe as Ronald Weasley swear words ?)

I agree with David’s comment that if you don’t want young kids exposed to such language at all, then a football stadium isn’t the best place to be, however you can’t protect them forever…

Seats are clearly marked as family area and behaviour should be commensurate with those present.

I find it astounding that comments such as they shouldn't go to football. They are both football mad so why should I stop them going because individuals decide to behave unacceptably in the area they are seated
