So comments were silly but shouldn't be used against all posters.

Sorry, I don’t get what you mean. If you’re saying not all comments were over the top then yes.

Some people, as many of us have done from time to time, probably overreacted and lashed out with over the top comments when emotions were high.

Wasn't that thread from October, when things were looking absolutely dire on the pitch? I appreciate it's a results business, but at the time we were getting neither the results nor a performance. We'd barely troubled the top six the previous season, and looked set to repeat the same again.

The message was sent loud and clear that it wasn't good enough. Had things carried on in the same manner, he'd have been out of a job. Absolutely no doubt in my mind. It's also important that Warne at this point was freely admitting things were nowhere near good enough. It wasn't just us Warne outers that were critical. He was agreeing with us.

Credit given to all involved that following that "altercation" with Hourihane and the fans, results did improve. And that was despite key players being out injured. I absolutely think that the toxicity at the time knocked some reality into the players and staff. I think it was their make or break time. I also absolutely think we'd be nowhere near second had we all just clapped them off every game, and quietly accepted whatever garbage was being served up. I truly think it was the moment the penny dropped for the club. And it was needed.

I think that point in time, when the Warne doubt was at it's highest, that neither camp was wrong. One camp were fed up with things as they were in reality. One camp were optimistic things would improve. I'd also argue both camps were right because despite results improving, arguably the football didn't. So some very valid questions remained.

However it's results that get you up, so most sane doubters were placated. And we did go up. Because we're Derby and we're brilliant, regardless of who's in charge.

But I'm always wrong, so feel free to disagree.

I think those comments came in the immediate aftermath of the defeat at Shrewsbury. Whilst the sentiments might have been valid at the time, the way some people expressed them were not. Perhaps a reason why we should all take a moment before posting after a disappointing defeat rather than ranting whilst emotions are high.

Surely Barnsley should give Wanderers more than 2000 tickets , they struggle to get 13500 to Oakwell

I guess it depends on whether they think they would be handing Bolton an advantage if they were backed by a larger following. Maybe Barnsley are thinking they’d rather take the hit on income.

It looks like they are giving them the same number of tickets as last season when the attendance was just over 16,000.

I maybe old school, but no way would i want a mega rich foreign owner, but im probably in the minority. If that happened to all the so called big clubs in the championship and league 1 what happens to all the small clubs, prob go out of buisness like we nearly did.

I don’t think the “small clubs” would go out of business but they’d probably become totally uncompetitive (unless they had an owner trying to punch above their financial wealth). We’d probably end up with an imitation of the Premier league whereby there would be a group of teams competing at the top pretty much every year, yo yo-ing up to the Premier League and back, and the rest relieved to be lower to mid table in the Championship.

As Derby are re born...surely it's time we named the South Stand and the rest of them for that matter.  Not a fan of a sponsored stand as they come and go...apart from the Toyota West stand.  We could go back to an old stand name from the BBG, a Legend or something completely new and fresh?

    I'll start the ball rolling.....

    South Stand - 1884

    North Stand - Railway End

    East Stand - Popside

West Stand - Toyota (Steve Bloomer Upper & Lower) Stand

South Stand just sounds right to me and should remain as if but the other three could perhaps be renamed.

I don’t think the Popside really suits the East Stand as it’s nothing like what the Popside used to be like and, I don’t really like the sound of the Railway End.

Naming stands after ex players is a tricky one as how much of a legend any particular one was is very subjective. Ex managers is an option but Forest already have Clough and Taylor stands so they’re probably out. If you’re not going to name a stand after Clough then it’s difficult to justify naming a stand after another.

I’m afraid I can’t think of any better options but also, at the end of the day, I don’t really have any problem with their current names.

For me it’s about being creative with our finances + some better loans save the money for two  quality players.

personally this is what I’d do

GK - renew wildsmith + add a young lad as third choice

    RB - fine

    CB - fine

LB - maybe keep sibley + go after burrows at boro

CM- release- hourihane, maybe smith pay as you play , sign Adams and maybe loan player + herbie Kane on a free or Brannagan ( bird replacement)

W- release barks - maybe get dembele on loan from Celtic or another prem loan

SK - release all out of contract bar Collins , maybe a cheaper competition like Alfie May / Cole on a free or try to sign Langstaff or a lower league player with potential.

Not too creative though eh Mel? 😉

Interesting, because it looks like our second goal was suspect. 🙃

    I don't think so.

At the time Wildsmith actually kicks the ball Bradley is onside (just).

    image.thumb.png.749a88a407efd5313ce501c0374bf2f9.png

Collins is in an offside position but that doesn't matter according to the following interpretation of the rules.

    image.thumb.png.e532a81f77ee1a17fa50b6179350852e.png

In our scenario Wildsmith is player A, Bradley is player B and Collins is player C.

There you go, clear as mud.

    Totally agree.

Maybe because i watched the match on the tv with my mates and then none of them wanted to get on the lash. So the day ended earlier than expected.

Don't get me wrong i'm happy we're up but i can't say I've enjoyed the last two years, just didn't sit right playing the like of Morecambe etc because of one mans madness.

I agree that it didn't "feel right" playing the likes of Forest Green and Morecambe but it hasn't stopped me enjoying (in the most part) the last two seasons we've also been in the same league as top 2 division regulars such as Ipswich, Bolton, Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Peterborough. So we shouldn't be looking down our noses too much at league one.

Whoa.  I'm guessing you've not been around as long as some of us (pensioner age).  IMHO, whilst a great achievement, this is nowhere near the heydays of Clough & Taylor or Dave McKay.  I was there for both and our subsequent slide in Div 3.  Now, they were great seasons and this one is not in the same league (see what I did there?).

Still, onwards and upwards.  I hope that through my son and grandson, my family will live to see the rise to the top again, but I fear I won't!  Really looking forward to the Summer now, as it will be full of transfer gossip and smart tweets from the Admin team!  COYR!!🍺🐏

He said “one of the greatest” not “the greatest”.

Of course the achievement in itself doesn’t compare to our league wins, glorious victories in Europe or even winning the old second division but, as other have said, the context is all important here. Less than two years ago we were on the brink of extinction. Even after DC saved the club we could easily have found ourselves floundering in league one for too many seasons.

I don’t mind what league we are in, I just want Derby to be competitive. I’ve enjoyed league one, but then I don’t like or watch premier league football, I’d rather watch non league

Hit the nail firmly on the head there.

Obviously I hope we make a real fist of it next season and, one day, make it back to the Premier League. We’re right to have ambition and be celebrating our promotion BUT, where’s the joy in watching your team getting rolled over and losing most weeks even if the quality of football and standard of the officials is better?

I’ve enjoyed the prospect and expectation of picking up points at every away game I’ve been to (although, I’ve only managed to get tickets for 7 away games and we lost 4 of those - Barnsley, Bolton, Shrewsbury and Northampton) and the I’ve quite enjoyed being a relatively big fish in a small pond.

I’ve not enjoyed not being able to get tickets for the way games I’ve fancied (this season was the first I can remember not going to the last away game) and I’ve not always enjoyed the quality of our own football (but a wins a win). Hopefully both of those will change (for the better) next season.

Thanks for checking in, and thanks for your comments! I always liked Ian Evatt, and am glad he is having some success, and would love for you to win the play-offs. In reality most of us are relieved, and delighted that we've got the job done, because I am sure we wouldn't make it through the EFL roulette competition!

My only gripe with Bolton is, having visited there 3 times, it is a bit of a pig to get away from when the match is over! But I can put up with that!

I parked at Tesco's this season and, apart from having to avoid pedestrians leaving the ground, I thought it was relatively easy to get away from especially with the motorway being so close. Certainly easier than Pride Park.

I believe that it would count as having control as it was a deliberate attempt to play the ball and he had time to see it, it didn't just hit him.

It was deliberate but he never had control of the ball. He stuck his foot out to block the shot.

  13. 32 minutes ago, ram59 said:

BTW, I don't whether this has been covered, but Adams goal was wrongly called offside, not that it matters now.

It was wrong on 2 counts, firstly the defenders foot was hanging back and playing Adams onside, a marginal decision, but secondly the defender made a deliberate act to clear Sibo's shot which meant that Adams was onside, this was poor refereeing.

I think you’re wrong on your second point. According to law 11, the defender also has to have control of the ball. I’m not sure sticking your foot out would count as having control.

The defenders foot looks like it might well have been playing Adams onside but it was extremely close and probably impossible to spot in real time. Consequently, it definitely wasn’t “poor refereeing”.

Thank goodness it didn’t matter and we can just debate it as an interesting topic of conversation rather than being angry about it.

  14. I have to confess that even though I was strongly against a pitch invasion - in favour of allowing the players and their families to do their lap of appreciation, it actually panned out rather well and the players appearing by the directors seating worked a treat. Even those of us still in the stands had a good view on the big screen. The presentations actually worked very well with the players (plus DC and PW) being surrounded by fans rather than in the middle of the pitch with just the sponsors banners.

So, I was wrong. What a great day.

One final word, is it possible to love Ebou anymore with his fine interviews and jigging around? What a character.

So who is a big enough person to eat a slice of humble pie?

I have to admit, that thought did cross my mind but I realised we should actually give some of them (not all of them) credit for a) sticking to their opinion that they still don’t think he is the right man to take us forward or they hate his football (everyone is entitled to their opinion even if we disagree with them) and b) having the good grace to keep their opinions to themselves at this time of celebration.

This time tomorrow I will wake up and we will be a Championship club with nothing to worry about but who we are/aren't signing. Feels good... just get over the line today.

This time tomorrow we’ll have no more club football to look forward to for several weeks. ☹️

    Every silver lining……………

Merely wishful thinking. He’s been training and of course hope he wouldn’t even be close to being required, but if he’s a high percentage fit, assessed to the hilt, he may make it (bench).
…… As for next season, yes please!

I agree but I was responding to your original post that you’d like him on the bench even if he’s nowhere near match fit which is a bit different to high percentage fit.

I've always left it to the last week or so in the past (not specifically the last day though!) ... but this year, I did it on day one... for no other reason than I got reminded on here, and was sat around twiddling my thumbs in front of the PC at work.

    I can't imagine there's "A bad time to renew", is there?  🤷‍♂️

The way I see it, why rush to do it on the first day or two when there might well be teething problems and why leave it until the last day or two when you might forget, encounter technical problems or have another unexpected commitment that means you might not have time?

It's already started, whatever it is. No more than one person chanting 'Come on You Rams'?

"A dispersal order is now in place for Derby city centre, following concerns about anti-social behaviour.

The order will be in place until 11am on Sunday 28 April. The order started at 11am on Friday 26 April, and covers the areas pictured on the map."

"Officers and PCSOs will be using the dispersal powers to disperse anyone found causing anti-social behaviour in Derby city centre for a maximum of 48hrs.

Dispersal orders give officers extra powers to direct groups to leave an area if they are involved in ASB or disorder, if members of the public are being harassed, alarmed or distressed, or if officers think their behaviour may lead to anti-social behaviour.

Anyone who returns to the area after being moved on, will face being arrested."

I assume it just means they’ll allow celebrating fans behaving sensibly (if we nail it tomorrow) but reserve the right to move folk on if it gets a bit too rowdy or members of the public feel harassed.
