I feel for Warne. I think if he keeps us up this season it will be the biggest managerial achievement here since Mac’s third place finish.
 

I am serious. I think Warne’s football last season was relatively crap considering the gulf in quality over the opposition. I think that deserved criticism.
But I can’t criticise Warne at all this season. IMO he is handicapped and if he manages to keep this squad of players afloat, regardless of playing style, he will deserve huge credit.

The stats from the game are incredible really. Although not as extreme as when Martin brought his Swansea side to the City Ground in our promotion season, 30% possession for us that day, 17 shots on target to their 3 and 5-1 winners.
Yesterday wasn't too different, Soton kept the ball for fun but did nothing with it and really we should've won by a couple of goals at least.
The gulf is certainly getting bigger. In the 3 seasons we've been up it's become more and more obvious each year. Unfortunately it's becoming even more of a closed shop than it was before.

Some positives to take:
- We handed one of the promotion favorites Boro their only defeat of the season so far.
- Our only defeats have come against 2nd and 3rd in the table, both away from home.
- We have been competitive and certainly haven’t been outclassed.
- We will strengthen before deadline day

Warne will never exceed expectations. He is very good at matching expectations, as shown by his four promotions and three relegations.
Give him a squad expected to get promoted, and I’d back him to get us promoted.
But that’s almost impossible at Championship level as our budget isn’t in the top 3 in this league.
If our squad is better than the bottom three, then we won’t go down with Warne in charge.
But I currently don’t see 3 weaker squads than ours right now.
He needs help.
If we go with what we have, our only other alternative is to gamble on replacing Warne with somebody who can achieve more than just meeting expectation.

You blame Guardiola but not Mourinho?
Guardiola’s teams have always had technical ability. Mourinho instead bombed out any technical player in favor of athleticism and strength.
The list of players who Mourinho disregarded who then went on to become world class elsewhere is endless.
