Good - no room for sentimentality!
We've got to do what we need to do to stay in this league and then some!

Transparent about it too, to his credit. Said in an interview that he told the players before the last game that it would be the last time a lot of them played together.
Pro footballers have to roll with the punches as there's little room for sentiment in the modern game. That said, if all those cited as leaving do actually go, there'll be a good few I miss.

I'm still waiting for the Brazilians to produce a player called Isosceles.

If he hadn't been loyal to us for 10 years, and fought back from a couple of serious injuries, almost everyone on here would think we should get rid of Craig Forsyth as he isn't what we need this coming season.

Joe Low - centre half at Wycombe.
Young, lots of potential, impressed since joining them. Ex Bristol City academy. On the cheaper side you’d think, too.

We should have stuck with Cocu for the long term, and never gone anywhere near Rooney.

Nigel Clough would have taken us up...eventually.

Steve McClaren is the most overrated manager in Derby's modern history.
George Burley is the most underrated manager in Derby's modern history.
Nigel Clough would have got us promoted by 2016 & the manner of his sacking (night of Forest v Derby) still angers me
Sam Rush was a terrible chief exec for Derby
Philip Cocu was on the verge of cracking it at Derby before Rooney starting undermining him. He would have taken us up within 2 years.
I am extremely apprehensive about Paul Warne managing us in the Championship & dont see him lasting beyond Christmas

Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. It was a light read but felt quite refreshing. I read it mostly before bed over the last week and it was nice to just have something to help me switch off easily. One of the main characters is an octopus, which I really enjoyed.

I don’t know the ins and outs of it but you’d have to guess that it was something contractual as opposed to him being a bad egg. Maybe if he made a certain amount of appearances we’d have to pay X more money for him or something. A shame either way.

    Ah, facts!
Can't say for sure as I haven't paid much attention to Hull this season, but from the outside it looks like they spent a lot of money this season maxing out their squad hoping they'd go up, or at least make the play-offs. It certainly looked like a team that should have finished in at least the play-offs on paper.
Perhaps if he'd finished 7th without having those loans like Carvalho, the owner would have seen it differently!

Potentially - you do see a lot more free transfers/loans due to the spending power of the clubs.
But he had to fight for automatic promotion against teams that could go and spend the money on players like Collins and May. Our rivals at the top of the league didn't have the EFL looming over them like we did.
So yes, like you said, he should be commended for the job he has done with what little money we did have, and under those restrictions. I'm not sure why that is so hard for some people to deal with, but I could take a guess.

I remember him looking like the only player that knew what he was supposed to be doing against Bristol City away (in which he scored). Then just totally bombed out. Shame really as the Anya that played for Watford was fantastic.

If you ever get the opportunity to chat to someone who was around the team at the time, ask them what sort of “leader” Keogh was during Nigel Pearson’s time at the club.

(Going to assume that this post is sarcastic as I’m sure you don’t actually think we had that money to spend on any player)
Feel like I’ve said this about ten times now but I don’t quite understand how anyone can argue that Warne isn’t impressive at this level. He’s had four promotions. He got us promoted in his first full season. Yes, the football has been less that pretty, but the job he has done is impressive.

Nobody is saying we were poverty stricken. And before you accuse me of doing this by using the word "shoestring", let me just clarify that I used that word simply to describe the small amount of money we had to work with and the balancing act the club had to go through to sign a player: CBT being the most obvious example of this. Fornah and Kane Wilson two others.
Our budget, even under restrictions, was almost certainly competitive when compared with the division as a whole. I'm sure Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers would struggle to match us ever with the EFL looming over us.
But we certainly weren't in a position to splash the cash either, were we?
Other teams were managing to beat us to the signing of players because they could pay fees that we couldn't. Warne even acknowledged this when speaking about a striker that had joined a rival (believe it was Lang going to Portsmouth?).
You're trying to make out that we had money to spend and just chose not to. I don't think that's true or even fair.
The wider point of this whole discussion though is around whether Warne and the club did an impressive job recruiting this season with those restrictions in place. I think they did.
You don't seem to want to engage in that discussion, but instead you would rather play the role of an English teacher marking an exam paper, dishing out big red crosses for the use of terminology you find "erroneous"
I've agreed with many of your points over the season on Warne and his style of play, but it's starting to feel now like you are just entrenched in a position of constant criticism of him that isn't particularly fair.
