A friend introduced me to this Canadian band.  This number has been an ear-worm of mine for a couple of days.

Thought he was brilliant today. Took up great positions, made theatening runs, took people on, fast direct passing. Did a real shift in defence, too, and saved us a goal. And while others jogged about and scowled at each other and looked like they thought they were too good to have to try, and hard-done-by by the universe, he played like a pro.
You can say 'yeah he does all that but no end product'. But come on: if the likes of Lawrence and Waghorn (and even CKR) did their main jobs as well as he did his, we'd have won today. You can't blame him for not doing _everything_ when some others don't seem to be doing _anything_

Two things: First, do you think MM bought the ground: A for his own financial benefit OR B because the club was in danger of breaching P&S rules. I think it’s B
secondly: we all know MM is gagging to sell the club. Do you think in the context of a sale he will: A exploit his ownership of the ground (which could hamper a sale); OR B ensure the deal concerning the ground is reasonable from the club’s perspective, thereby facilitating a sale. I think it’s B.

    that’s all I’m saying.

That's the spirit Easy, you're making great progress.
When you hear the gumpen hoards of nottingham start grunting "You reds!" just take a moment, clam yourself with the thought "never a Red" and stand up proud as a reformed notts forest fan.
There is better life for you, once you take the sacred teaching "never a red" into your heart. You can be whatever you want to be. Support Notts County, Burton Albion, Mansfield Town, or one of the glamour teams in the midlands.

I'm just waiting on the reveal that it's actually a consortium of football villains............Ken Bates, Adam Pearson, Billy Davies, Matt Southall, The Oystons, SiSU, the ghost of 1970s Leeds utd, all formed together to create a hub of evil power....but it turned out neither Wednesday or Cardiff could handle the evil....

Similar applies to those who say we have no chance of playoffs next season in my opinion. Just look at Reading and Barnsley.
Take Reading for example. They finished just 7 points outside the bottom 3. They have pretty much the same squad as last year. Signed a 25 year old on a free from Shrewsbury and got 3 loans in - 2 squad players and a backup player. However, that year of struggle meant their promising youngsters gained vital experience. 5 of their 12 most used players this season came through their academy and are only in their very early 20's. Sounds somewhat familiar to our situation?

I think it's no worse him having ambition than the opposite,  where you seem to delight in  having us relegated before we actually are.
Either might happen, but what you talk about says more about the individual than the circumstance.

I think there is a big difference between being concerned and some of the vitriolic rubbish I have read on this thread, yes.
I think the very phrase "holding to account" smacks of an entitlement that I just don't think we as fans have, but if you feel we must  hold him to account, shouldn't we at least wait until he's done something?
What is the "standard befitting of football club owners" and how many would actually pass such a test? Would Chelsea's owner?
I just feel that fans these days get hung up on far too much. Really, if you only want ethical ownership,  maybe professional football is not the sport for you.

What will be will be. Whether it’s a new manager, new signing or new owner, we can speculate, worry, wail and gnash our teeth as much as we want, but we won’t know whether it turns out good, bad or indifferent until we see what transpires.
Its quite understandable why there is some concern as we’ve had some dodgy owners in the past and we’ve seen what has happened elsewhere. However, I do tend to think some of the comments on here and elsewhere are a bit like people are just trying to make sure they can say ‘I told you so’ when/if it goes wrong and look clever.
The only thing I’m particularly feeling at the moment is sadness that Mel is selling up. Football has ups and downs and I don’t really blame Mel for where we are. He’s backed his managers, he’s backed people he trusted to run the club, he has hired managers who should’ve done better than they did. Everything he’s done, and invested, has been with the best of intentions. The only thing I think he got really wrong was sacking SMC twice. But even then, I always work on the basis that nobody sets out to make errors, so I don’t hold it against him.
I’m sure whatever happens, it will be interesting.

I'm a tired middle aged man. I don't have reserves of rage to bring to bear on topics around what might go wrong, or what should have been done. I'm sad that Mel is walking away, sad for us and for him, that the effort in sweat and treasure he's put in to getting us promoted never worked out. Blame him if you want, but few of us could or would have done better. He deserved to sit in the executive box at Old Trafford and The Emirates and watch our team mix it with the best again. I'll always respect him and wish him well.
The new guy is a clean slate, a fresh start. We have a new season over the horizon and if we can just win a couple more games and stay up, positives in the academy and the managers office and hope for the future.
Good luck to him, and I hope the takeover and the relegation battle conclude successfully in this next couple of weeks.
Up the Rams. It's all about the hope.

Why do fans always fear the worst? In his statements there...if a player costs £20m and we think he can help we will pay it. Why arnt people mentioning he said...if a player is free and we think he can help we will sign him. The lad is 29. Hes buzzing. Hes ready to take on a challenge. All i hope is hes got the experiance around him. He will relax. Enjoy it. Dont keep being negative. What have we to lose honestly? If you aint got money in this football world you are nothing. Whether we have or we havent if this goes thru...just give it a chance.

But he won't have dealt with the clowns at the EFL before ? That'll be an eye opener for him
