I came across and acquired this hallmarked gold & silver Derby County Player Medal in last few days from an Antique Emporium in Yorkshire.
Providence confirms it was made in 1886 in Birmingham. Derby County only played 2 games in 1886 against Aston Unity and Birmingham St Georges in the FA Cup and these medals were presented to the Derby County players in recognition of the match.
A very rare find indeed and I’m thrilled to have found it.
I thought I’d share it as a point of interest. ??

To my knowledge this is the first time isn’t it that two member clubs have sought compensation for FFP/P&S abuses from another member club? If the claims do proceed to compensation being awarded, and/or ultimately bringing our Club to a close, then a very big precedent has been established. This seems like a watershed moment. You would think that there should be an extraordinary general meeting called in which all 72 member clubs are briefed as to the position, and a vote should be taken as to whether the membership are supportive of such actions being taken. They all should be aware that they might be next in the money merry-go-round, and that once the compensation box is open that each season thereafter multiple claims are likely to arise. I think that would focus a few minds if it was put to an extraordinary membership vote.

lets get one thing straight here ...the EFL is not allowing us to be taken over due to pending claims from two parasite clubs both of which should not be happening whilst we are in admin
the EFL are allowing this to happen and could solve all of this tomorrow by saying that they have dealt with DCFC and given us points deductions and transfer embargoes.
But all the time they let the tail wag the dog with claims from parasite teams effectively stopping anyone buying the club we are going nowhere...Instead of trying to get 4 parties to agree Us,EFL, ParasiteFC1 and ParasiteFC2 which will be difficult just have some balls EFL and tell them we have been dealt with and acted on there advice and got paperwork in to the EFL's deadlines
Stop fannying around with our future...grow some balls and do what you're supposed to do and take governence of this situation then tell them that the EFL will deal directly with any misdemeanours and the buck stops with them....

This is what it will take so grow a pair EFL and you might actually go up in some people's estimations !!

What have Quantuma done? They didn’t just release a statement on Friday night, they released a hand grenade which has exploded spectacularly, fans have latched onto it creates momentum and within 2 working days parliament are involved. They’ve not spoken because they haven’t needed to.
EFL have nearly spontaneously combusted with their statement last night. Basically implied their insolvency rules are open to interpretation and subject to change, in other words they make it up as they go along ???
Boro come out today citing systematic cheating as the basis for their claim on a set of arguments already settled and ruled upon by disciplinary commissions (ie stadium sale) and also the same arguments as the case they brought to the LAP which was ruled against, no systematic cheating was found in ANY of the judgements in the original IDC, subsequent LAP, and final IDC ruling, all they have is subjective opinion.
Wycombe, while RD gave Couhig the platform to prove he’s a sharp lawyer, they also let him reveal his reasons for the action, which proves they absolutely have no case at all because the IDC did not rule on the Derby sanction, the fine of £100k and the restatement of accounts until after the season had ended, therefore there is no way the points could have been applied earlier, the whole process we also know was delayed by Boro’s failed action, the LAP judgement told us this.
They have all questioned the actions of Quantuma, of course they are going to!! They want to deflect from the weakness of their arguments and all those parties are concerned about how they’re being portrayed. Are Quantuma bothered, maybe/maybe not but it’s not about saving public face it’s about getting a deal done no matter how dirty it gets. They’ve not spoken to Boro and Wycombe because they don’t believe the claims and have a legal way around them potentially, so they weren’t priority, doing a deal with HMRC was absolute priority, while Pauline Latham said we wasn’t entirely happy about her meeting with the administrators, I’m sure I read another post say she believes it has implied Quantuma have a deal with HMRC. In fact we go back to Quantuma’s statement last Friday and that also implies they have a deal in place with everyone (or at least a route forward) except Boro and Wycombe. The events of the last few days have refocused everyone and led all parties to say they’re willing to come to the table to try and sort this out - maybe that is what they wanted and exactly what was needed.
The MPs are now challenging ALL parties to get this deal done and that is the right approach and Quantuma will be under pressure to deliver on their requirements.

Chill out you lot. Leave them to do their job, which believe it or not is not to keep you up-to-date on all matters. The EFL, Boro and Couhig have all made public pronouncements in the last 24 hours, and what happened you slagged them all off, finding holes in most of everything they said. What do you think people who are not so keen on Derby are going to do if Quantuma release information. Yep twist and turn and spin it to their advantage. Keep your powder dry guys; we have the other side rattled.
Quantuma have got a pretty impossible job what with dealing with Parry and his cronies, Gibson and Morris, none of whom I would want to be in a room with personally (unless I had a chainsaw). They all have egos much larger than their brain power. Quantuma have the law on their side and a pleasant bit of momentum in the last 24 hours I would think, after being stonewalled by the EFL, in spite of statute, last Thursday. Hopefully at the moment all their spare time and energy is being spent with Ashley and legal counsel to make sure there next meeting with the EFL spells out fully that they will not be messed about. This is no time to be challenging their professional abilities.

Having watched my first game in 1965 (a 3-2 home defeat by Bolton) and approaching my 64th birthday, I decided that it was time to properly display my Rams collection. It's probably an old geezer thing…So, the cabinet was purchased with the blessing of Mrs M and this is the result.
My holy grail has always been to find a missing Steve Bloomer international cap in a junk shop, which is never going to happen; but I was lucky enough to get a pair of c1914 Bloomer branded boots at the recent Hansons auction. That will more than do for me.
This small corner of Gloucestershire is definitely Rams territory.
Mrs M and I are off to Reading Monday, sitting on our hands in the home end. Great Forum David et al, it's really valued by those of us no longer local.

I have a message for MM, I have supported your actions over the years and have felt that over the years you and the club suffered several incidences of bad fortune which has ultimately lead us to the sorry position that we are in now. Unfortunately this has happened under your tenure and you are ultimately responsible for this situation.
This group of players, management and especially the fans do not deserve the trauma that they are being put through at the moment, but it appears that short term funding could help immensely. I know that you have already lost a small fortune investing in this club, but I ask that if you able to offer the administrators short term funding, to satisfy the EFL to help get this sale over the line, it would change the feelings of many fans towards you.

Middlesborough were prevented from joining in on the Stadium sale / amortisation process because the EFL correctly applied the rules that there was an established process for the EFL to take action against Derby. A decision was made ultimately by the LAP, wrongly in my view but Derby shot themselves in the foot too, but nonetheless that is where it should have stopped. Decision made, punishment applied, everyone moves on.
Gibson though clearly was was wound up by Morris, and is now taking vexatious action to say that the punishment meted out to Derby was insufficient given the loss of income his club potentially suffered. Under EFL rules that claim needs to be separately arbitrated. That arbitration process will take ages to organise, and the Club will want to resist it as I understand (only from reading on here) that any decision of the LAP is final, and there is no appeal.
There is no official action or claim from Boro as they are prevented from taking action against a member club through the Courts under EFL rules. They can only pursue action as detailed above.
In my view, caveated by I am no lawyer, there is a strong case for Quantuma to take on the EFL via court injunction to stop them interfering with their statutory duties to creditors under the IA86. Hopefully that is true, and money will be found to stop the arbitration affecting the sale of the club. Hopefully the ruling will also determine that if Boro want to action a claim it has to be via a court action not a LAP kangaroo hearing.
I have not mentioned Wycombe in this as they just being a complete nuisance, with no reasonable claim whatsover.

How funny! That's now called Hardwick School, which I went to many years ago; in addition to attending the other St James's, which is still called St James.
The football skills didn't rub off on me though. I played sweeper and would just try to kick mud into the goal! I scored lots of mud goals, but they didn't really help the team.
I don't remember Bloomer ever being mentioned at school, although I probably wasn't listening if they did.
I did invent a ball game though, a bit like rounders, that they were still playing at least 8 or 9 years after I left.

Many of you will know this bit of Bloomer trivia, from a few years ago and I am not aware of anyone overtaking it. It puts into perspective just how good he was.
The all time top scorers in the big five European league top divisions (Germany, Italy, Spain, England and France) are:
    1.Christiano Ronaldo
    2.Lionel Messi
    3.Jimmy Greaves
    4.Gerd Muller
    5.Steve Bloomer
Steve lost some seasons playing in the second division and was technically an inside forward, not the main striker (he probably made nearly as many as he scored). He also played in an era when the offside rule was three defenders rather than the two today, so his record was monumental. Cannot think of anyone’s statue I would rather have next to the dugout.

It's just reached the point of pure embarrassment, from Boro, Wycombe and the EFL.
All those rival fans that are finding joy in all this when they could easily be next, wake up.
The game is littered with utter BS, we tried to find a different way with amortisation to compete with those awarded millions for failure, which the EFL retrospectively on Gibson's request found us guilty.
    Naughty Derby, grow up.
Rules have been retrospectively added to cover the EFL arses. Google enhanced embargo, see what comes up, Derby County, there was never a enhanced embargo before all this, it's something you came up with as Mel Morris publicly challenged you.
Meanwhile we have state owned clubs when sponsorships for official hotels, soaps and rubber ducks for 10x what they could buy this club for in the Premier League.
Do you not even realise how anti competitive the league that's responsible for your revenue is, do you not realise that the very existence of the Championship relies on multi millionaires prepared to be losing upwards of half a million a month, it's not sustainable even by your own rules.
Derby County reject a bid for their player which could be derisory, yet the EFL are on our case, are we in the position now where we have to sell Jason Knight for a fiver to keep Rick Parry happy, if that's the case then just end the game now.
We lost Kaide Gordon to Liverpool for a bag of monster munch and Freddo over that deal you agreed with the PL, how is that looking after your member clubs when they have to gift wrap the young stars that have been educated both on an off the field to satisfy the greed of the top 6 in this country.
Explain the benefit of that deal to your member clubs, please explain as from the fans that love the game, all we see is our clubs being screwed over.
Out of 2 play off finals which we were beaten, we were beaten by clubs that would have failed EFL FFP, we took it on the chin yet here we are, one club using bookies odds to build a case and another that didn't even earn promotion on merit jeopardising the existence of this club.
Meanwhile the MSM are far more interested in the likes of Man United and Newcastle to even realise what is going on outside the gold pit. The game is dying whilst the "journalists" are far more interested in finding the next tweet to create a clickbait article than actually do their jobs.
Nobody wants to touch it, why? We have a Serbian tennis player refused entry to a country and tournament, everyone, every journalist in sport is weighing in as we're sat here in limbo over let's not forget, retrospective punishment.
The EFL signed off our accounts that we have now been punished for, let that sink in.
I'm sick of it, sick of the rival fans looking to take the piss without understanding the situation, sick of the incompetent governing bodies, sick of Gibson and that Wycombe numpty.
We've rolled over, accepted the retrospective punishment, saved the EFL embarrassment of explaining themselves in court, yet the EFL are too gutless to tell the curly haired one to shut up as they are in fear of landing themselves in court over the utter shambolic way they have ran this league.
Grow some balls Rick, accept some responsibility over how the investigations were handled and do the right thing, tell Gibson to F off, tell Wycombe to F off and learn from your mistakes.

Well seems I was wrong this would be a non-story. ??‍♂️
Here we are, with Ashley potentially involved and could become preferred bidder, a route to exiting admin with a CVA, and to ensure funding to keep to our current business plan without selling players, yet we’re not being allowed to follow it because of a ludicrous claim from Boro and furthermore we’re now getting the EFL coming after us because we’re not accepting low ball offers for players, despite having a potential exit plan in place meaning we don’t need to sell players. It’s a scandal and it needs reporting on better than it is. Too much credit is being given to Boro’s claim, the EFL isn’t fit for purpose because it isn’t independent and our rival clubs are once again queuing up to stick the boot in to satisfy their own interests. This isn’t about integrity of the league it’s politics plain and simple.
I don’t think Gibson wants to liquidate Derby. If he can get a few quid off us he’ll be happy, but his main intention is to prolong this as long as possible to force us to sell players making us certain to be relegated this season, to force us down the route of a restructuring plan and ensure we have -15 points in league one next season. Rival clubs are jumping on the bandwagon because they see an opportunity to get our players on the cheap. It’s playground bullying and the EFL are the dinner ladies with no authority because they represent the clubs who want to do us over. They also represent us but the mob rules!
This is why we need an independent regulator. I now cannot see any way this will be resolved in Jan, we will need to sell players meaning survival is nigh on impossible and we’re not going to get the creditors to agree if we need to sort this Boro issue therefore it’s league one on -15. If we get that and we have Mike Ashley as owner, it’s still a result but it’s so upsetting and frustrating because with a reasonable governing body we could get out of admin this season and have a fighting chance of staying in the league.

My view on the Boro, WW situation is clear, currently neither of these clubs have any legal claim against the Rams and will not until they get judgement in a court of law/LDP
The administrators can book the claims if they wish on the balance sheets as "contingent liabilities", but these would not crystallise until there was a judgement or an out of court settlement, I am looking forwards to seeing Boro's next set of accounts to see if they state their claim on their balance sheet, as deferred income?
I am a gambling man and would definitely have a side bet that these claims will come to exactly nothing. The EFL cannot do anything unless there is a judgement against the Rams and as such any Wrist slitting about this is pointless and a waste of time. I believe that either interested party coming in will tough it out with both clubs with " And if you think your hard enough bring it on" Ashley loves litigation as do most USA companies, given the state of Boro's finances I cannot see that they have deep enough pockets to fight a lot cause.
