There’s a lot of talk, but he’s not really saying anything.
We know the financial model is broken. And he’s claiming he knows that too. Surely that’s all the more reason to run the club prudently, rather than plough ahead and play the parachute payments game without any parachute payments.

Do you know what, it’s a really difficult decision for me. We are looking at this with those hindsight goggles on but there was such a ridiculous amount of bad luck and I agreed with a lot of the decisions at the time.
    - Nigel Pearson appointment. He built the team that Leicester won the league with but he tried to change our style of play too soon and the players couldn’t handle it + there was some racism issue with his son.
    - Clement. One of the highest regarded coaches in Europe, came to us from Madrid. Percentages say that should have worked.
    - Mac. Did well for us every time he was here, sabotaged us when Newcastle showed interest.
    - Lampard. Massively raised the profile of the club and some of the players we could attract through him - look at where they are now. On the flip side all pf his permanent signings were terrible and but for a weird team selection at Wembley and the obvious should I stay/go period, could have been the one to get us to the promised land.

I am also not buying this theory that the buck stops with him on transfers. You don’t expect the owner to say yes/no to spending money based on the quality of a player. They don’t know enough about the technical side of the game. If a manager tells you this player is the missing link to get us to the prem but by the way mr Blackman will cost X million, that is the fault of the coach not the owner.
Joinersgate. Albentosa getting home sick. The unexplainable disappearance of ability from players like Anya, Butterfield, Marriott, etc who (forget the fees) were all good players before coming to Derby.

I don’t want to be the voice of reason because I’m as angry as everyone else and of course there is the flip side of the argument with some extremely poor commercial decisions, but I do find myself feeling for Mel. I honestly believe every decision he has made has been in the best interest of the club, it just hasn’t worked out for him. And unfortunately now he has to fall on his sword. But it doesn’t make me hate the man…

p.s I don’t expect people to read this in full, but emotions are running high at the moment and it made me feel better getting it off my chest.

If (and it's a very big if) the rumours of a 9 points plus 3 more suspended are true, then it makes no sense. "Negotiating" such a high punishment means the EFL know they're on dodgy ground and cannot simply impose it. Why should we ever accept such a thing when we contend we have done nothing wrong?
The only reason I can think of, is that the decision is from Mel's potential buyers, who want a line drawn and the thing over and done with. Maybe they think, come January, they can buy their way out of trouble. But if that is the case, Mel needs to be a hell of a lot more confident in his buyers than the recent Sheik or Spanish boxer fiascos. And I'm not currently sufficiently confident in Mel that he's done sufficient (or any) due diligence.

Yeah, he's right in terms of it being low speed and just unfortunate that the tyres touched like that.
I don't know if it's the official definition of racinging incident, but for me, if it's a ligitimate attempt (it was) and a ligitimate defense (it was)resulting in both being at the same place in space, then racing incident. As the famous quote from Senna goes "You no longer go for a gap that is there, you're no longer a racing driver" (although everyone forgets that was him justifying ramming Prost off the track to secure his title)
Whilst I didn't mind the stewards giving Max 3 place grid penalty anything more would've been too much and I would've personnally just left it, but that's me and I'm not a race steward. - realistically Max should've backed out or cut the corner rather than assuming everyone (especially Hamilton) is going to get out of his way because he's Max Verstappen. But equally, Hamilton could've left more space for Max to be in without a crash.

They come over here taking up all our camping pitches.  Buy their plastic tents and then moan they don't last long, or that they blew away in a breeze, as they don't know how to guy them out properly!
The sooner these nouveau campers duck off back to Benidorm, the better!  ?

Football songs are at their best when they’re about hope and/or misery, not “everyone is frightened of the Derby pride” (which, evidently, they’re not).
It’s why songs about thirty years of hurt, or how football causes love (of football) to have the world in motion resonate best.
I quite like SBW, but I’d love a proper anthem, and I like Stop Crying Your Heart Out as it’s a) sentimental but anthemic b) has a good chorus c) nothing directly to do with football and d) has a link to us already.

This will be the most boring game of the season, 2 teams who can't score up against 2 tight defences.
    So, 3-3 then?
