ColonelBlimp reacted to Day in Steve Gibson trying to liquidate Derby
It's just reached the point of pure embarrassment, from Boro, Wycombe and the EFL.
All those rival fans that are finding joy in all this when they could easily be next, wake up.
The game is littered with utter BS, we tried to find a different way with amortisation to compete with those awarded millions for failure, which the EFL retrospectively on Gibson's request found us guilty.
    Naughty Derby, grow up.
Rules have been retrospectively added to cover the EFL arses. Google enhanced embargo, see what comes up, Derby County, there was never a enhanced embargo before all this, it's something you came up with as Mel Morris publicly challenged you.
Meanwhile we have state owned clubs when sponsorships for official hotels, soaps and rubber ducks for 10x what they could buy this club for in the Premier League.
Do you not even realise how anti competitive the league that's responsible for your revenue is, do you not realise that the very existence of the Championship relies on multi millionaires prepared to be losing upwards of half a million a month, it's not sustainable even by your own rules.
Derby County reject a bid for their player which could be derisory, yet the EFL are on our case, are we in the position now where we have to sell Jason Knight for a fiver to keep Rick Parry happy, if that's the case then just end the game now.
We lost Kaide Gordon to Liverpool for a bag of monster munch and Freddo over that deal you agreed with the PL, how is that looking after your member clubs when they have to gift wrap the young stars that have been educated both on an off the field to satisfy the greed of the top 6 in this country.
Explain the benefit of that deal to your member clubs, please explain as from the fans that love the game, all we see is our clubs being screwed over.
Out of 2 play off finals which we were beaten, we were beaten by clubs that would have failed EFL FFP, we took it on the chin yet here we are, one club using bookies odds to build a case and another that didn't even earn promotion on merit jeopardising the existence of this club.
Meanwhile the MSM are far more interested in the likes of Man United and Newcastle to even realise what is going on outside the gold pit. The game is dying whilst the "journalists" are far more interested in finding the next tweet to create a clickbait article than actually do their jobs.
Nobody wants to touch it, why? We have a Serbian tennis player refused entry to a country and tournament, everyone, every journalist in sport is weighing in as we're sat here in limbo over let's not forget, retrospective punishment.
The EFL signed off our accounts that we have now been punished for, let that sink in.
I'm sick of it, sick of the rival fans looking to take the piss without understanding the situation, sick of the incompetent governing bodies, sick of Gibson and that Wycombe numpty.
We've rolled over, accepted the retrospective punishment, saved the EFL embarrassment of explaining themselves in court, yet the EFL are too gutless to tell the curly haired one to shut up as they are in fear of landing themselves in court over the utter shambolic way they have ran this league.
Grow some balls Rick, accept some responsibility over how the investigations were handled and do the right thing, tell Gibson to F off, tell Wycombe to F off and learn from your mistakes.

Okay thanks for the reply, I’m not here to be confrontational, been reading this site for a fair few years (along with most championship sites ) and quite recently have seen QPR mentioned a few times. Not that it helps any I don’t think any team should be suing another.
I still have nightmares about QPR’s administration and relegation to the third tier in 2001, we had 5 registered players at the start of the following season, had a total rebuild and after 3 seasons got back into the championship.
I can still remember our “rich owners” stitching Derby up with exorbitant ticket prices as you’d just been relegated and deemed to be a category A game.
many of us weren’t happy when Tony Fernandes started buying players we couldn’t afford as if they were panini stickers and I think the other clubs are right to be ducked off with the way our club went.
it’s taken a few years but we are now doing things correctly and are just starting to reap the rewards. However I expect if we don’t go up this year then our young starts will be sold and we’ll have to start the cycle again.
Hope you get a new owner (pay HMRC off) and become competitive again.
    merry Christmas to you all.

After 8 weeks of silence, DET are today reporting that Mel Morris can be heard on Desert Island Discs this coming Sunday on BBC Radio 4
    https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/mel-morris-Derby-county-desert-island-discs-6322992
In a revealing insight, Mel talks about himself loads, his favourite book (Accounting for Dummies) and what he considers gives him most pleasure (having his ego massaged). Interspersed during an hour of denial, Mel also shares his favourite music, an eclectic mix of sounds from his past, totally oblivious at all times to the irony of his choices:
    1) Money, Money, Money - Abba
    2) The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
    3) Money too tight to mention - Simply Red
    4) Sorry seems to be the hardest word - Elton John
    5) Taxman - Beatles
    6) Liquidator - Harry J All Stars
    7) It wasn't me - Shaggy

    Hi
Bournemouth supporter here and congratulations on the win yesterday. Should have been a draw but that's not what I came on here for.
In 2008-09 we were on zero points after 19 games - having started on -17. We were also under a transfer embargo, were struggling to pay players and had a  team with several on-league and out-of-contract recruits. For us the rest is History as Eddie Howe stepped up from youth team coach on 1st  January, lost his first 2 games but we stayed up on 46 points.
OK! OK! I know it was League 2, and you don't want a Bournemouth history lesson. My point simply is - it can be done. Your home support may just help -it was pretty impressive yesterday.
    Hope you manage it.
    Good luck.

ColonelBlimp reacted to Steve Bloomer's Washing in PODCAST INTERVIEW: Quantuma
    Evening all

We've had a 20-minute conversation this afternoon with Derby's administrators Quantuma, which is out now as a podcast.

Chris spoke at length to Quantuma CEO Carl Jackson to get an update on Derby County's administration process and the quest to find new buyers for the club.
In their first non-club interview since Derby's -21 points deduction was confirmed, we discussed a number of key issues with the administrators, including how Derby's process has been compared to other companies they deal with (2:06), which interested party is furthest along in the takeover process (9:06), how likely it is that Derby may have to sell players in January (14:55), and how they feel about fans' fears of the club being liquidated (18:48).
There are a few nuggets in there (ie, Quantuma were contacted by a new potential bidder as recently as this morning) but some issues which clearly Carl Jackson can't get drawn on in detail.

Anyway - hope you find it interesting.

    Cheers

See, herein lies my problem with you and the RT. I'd wager that prior to now, you've never once contacted David, this site's owner, to enquire as to membership numbers and / or page view stats, in order to properly evaluate the potential benefits and make an informed decision. If this is the case, can you explain exactly how you did actually go about assessing the value of this and other fans forums as platforms that might help grow your membership?
Frankly, for all the faith that you afford 'open platforms' such as Twitter and Facebook as a means to stimulate membership numbers, it seems from the rather modest number who are already engaged with the RT, that your faith was unfounded. I don't know exactly how long the RT has existed, but irrespective, with a membership of only 1200, surely you should have been moving heaven and earth to raise your profile. Twitter indicates around 11 years which equates to growing the membership by less than 110 members per annum. That's a pretty damning indictment, however you choose to spin it.
So here it is. I'll join your club, as, most likely, will a number of other DCFC Fans Forum members and you can have you £2.00 each year despite my reservations about the RT being fit for purpose, but an open and independent poll as to the suitability of the current board needs to happen sooner rather than later. There are many reasons I could cite as to why, but I'll stick with just the one I've already highlighted for the time being.

I'm sorry Jim, but this disparity can't be explained away exclusively by your £2.00 fee. The club has @15,000 season ticket holders after all. If less than one in ten of that group sees any value in joining the RT and this despite our current predicament, then perhaps you might want to consider the Trust's performance and credibility before criticising fans for the 'lack of support they have shown'. Worldwide, I'd estimate a fanbase well in excess of 100,000. If this figure is remotely accurate, then the RT is tracking at @1% at best. In truth, that percentage is probably significantly lower. Either way, that, I'm afraid to say, is inexcusable and in my opinion, goes a long way to explaining the lack of faith many of us have in the Trust and its current board.

A truly detestable club. Their bin robbing fans refuse to acknowledge the complete cheating bastary employed in their rise from div 3.

That a hacking group release damming emails that prove the EFL has acted in bad faith. We are then vindicated of all charges, except 4 points for a simple minor P and S breach. We sue the EFL and are awarded substantial damages which the new owner splurges on a quality striker in January. We then start scoring goals for fun, get to the playoffs. Then when said striker is injured. and other injuries mount amongst our tired but battling heroes, Rooney is forced to get fit, re register as a player and scores a hat trick in an epic playoff final that takes to the prem.

Let’s just get all the points penalties now and start next season fresh with a new owner in League One.
People saying -21 points is the worst case scenario. it isn’t at all. We’re already going down with -12 points. Worst case scenario is relegation and then for the financial irregularity / punishment points deduction to happen in League One.
Starting next season in League One with zero points, a new owner and no hanging points deduction is among the best case scenarios.

If its true Rooney should do what he said he was going to do..just play the team he thinks he will have available to him in League 1 and sell the rest in January..why should we care about the integrity of the competition when the EFL has no integrity..

Accordingly I have almost nothing I can contribute to this thread, other than to say as an ‘outsider’ (but long term Rams fan) that the sentence I have put in bold is quite a telling statement. Something all too obviously needs to change, and therefore new members joining and being promoted to the ‘executive’ asap seems long overdue.

    Hi Jim,
Welcome to the forum. I have a few questions, if I may?
Can I ask why it's taken over a decade for the Trust to engage with this community? By your own admission, you have only done so today at someone else's suggestion!  Has it not occurred to you that blithely stating as much suggests you were either a) unaware of this community's existence, or b) never previously saw any value in any form of engagement?
My final question is, why now? What is to be gained now that was not meaningful before?
    Thanks,
    86

It has been suggested to me that I should use this forum to receive views on the Trust and things we can do better. Over the last 20 years I have seen plenty of negative comments about the Trust, but few constructive suggestions on how we can improve and gain more members.
We are the only recognised Supporters Trust for Derby County, so it is important that we are as representative as possible. We will never all agree, but we do seek to represent supporters the best we can.
I promise I will read all responses, but cannot guarantee always being able to respond as I already get 100s of messages / emails every day.
