It was a massive day, for those who have not given up. After all the bad news, if we’d lost by a couple of goals we’d feel relegation is inevitable. Instead we beat one of the top teams and matched them for quality
This team still believes in miracles - we saw that today.

I just can’t help smiling, I kind of bounced along the river back to the car. What a performance and what a great game to watch. Like others I had a tear or two on the way home. Great day.
I said in another thread .. 3 points from the next 3 games would give us some heart and any win would be magic.

Done it at the first try, AND 3 goals AND a penalty. Epic performance. Triumph to disaster and back to triumph all in 95 minutes.

Every player gave everything. That Curtis sliding tackle in front of the south stand !  Shinnies shear bloody mindedness battling round his man to get in the box. Festy never say die perseverance , Lawrence, a couple of slide rule passes, a dream of a goal and a solid penalty. Jags marshalling out big number 9’s. Buchanan diving in at the end without a hesitation. Big Colin all bristling muscle, Jason Knight, fearless brave heart who can do it for 90 minutes, extra time and whatever gets thrown at him. He never stops. Roos awful gaff but kept his head, caught a great cross late on and took out half the defence when determined it was “MY” ball. That takes courage !

Then we get Liam Thompson … a real CM .. not a wannabe No 10 or a DM spraying passes from deep. Nope ! He’s a terrier, quick feet, first time passes, moving the ball quickly, grabbing opportunities to move it the right way. Composed too. Looked like he’d been a first team footballer for sometime. I think he added real balance to our midfield.

Bourmouth .. one moment when they cut through us with ease but apart from that pretty bang average and if that is 2nd in the league hoping to go top today then this makes Derby Count class of 2021 a worthy outfit to watch. The fat lady may be in the tunnel, the absolutely dreadEFL orchestra is playing …. but she hasn’t sung yet.

Thompson was quality wasn’t he? Very good on the ball against some experienced international players in the Bournemouth midfield.
If Buchanan’s injury is a bad one, I’d like to see more of Dylan Williams this season too. The production line keeps rolling…

Some supporters are planning for life in league one already. We have 28 games left and if we can be 10-12 points behind after Christmas, we have a chance.

    Lawrence - deserved headlines.
    Excellent from Thompson and Ebosele.
    Non stop from Knight.
But, my oh my, unsung heroes in Davies and Shinnie.

Incredible win when you look at it a little closer.
That’s a team who are one of two running away with promotion already. Only lost once this season. Not lost away from home before today & only conceded one goal.
We didn’t get lucky, we were full value for the win. Proud.

Feels so important - top performance from Captain Tom, raw energy from young Liam, Max’s set pieces and passing outstanding, Knighty a permanent threat…

Bursting with the pride, this is the best spirit i've seen in a Derby team. Can we have another poll

50% of the starting 10 outfield players today from the academy.

Somebody said earlier this week that we should scrap the academy - I’m not so sure.

My mates lad plays in the academy and said to me recently how well all the staff have handled the situation and it’s as if nothing has happened since we went into administration. That only comes from great leadership.

This may be the worst analogy I've seen on this forum so far.
No one takes on a mortgage as a gamble, it's a long term investment of low risk for both the borrower and the lender, and the basis of our home owning society.
Mel's done the opposite, gambled with money he does have, then walked away to let taxpayers, businesses and quite shamefully, in my opinion, two different ambulance services bear the pain, one state owned, one a charity ffs.

You don't think a £700k payment to someone 'with a view to them taking up a football related role' that never existed and a £1m payment for becoming a club ambassador as sweetener for Craig Bryson signing a new contract were questionable deals? Really?
SR winning a case against his dismissal doesn't mean these things didn't happen.
It doesn't really matter who ultimately signed them off, and just because they weren't legally a breach of FD doesn't mean they're the sort of deals you want your club entering into.

    I’m twice Wayne’s age.
Never achieved a fraction of the success he has already had in his career.
Never had to face the kind of relentless pressure he has faced in the past twelve months.
Rarely had to face the managerial responsibility he has to face.
Never in the glare of the world’s press.
And all whilst knowing that he could walk away with his head held high at any time.
    Thank you Mr Rooney.
    Yours respectfully
    Steve

Considering for many years Rooney was mocked how he came across in interviews (and to some extent, still is to this day with the “errmm” comments), I’ve been nothing but impressed with his manner, positivity and the way in which he has conducted himself as our manager in interviews.
We are now seeing the benefit from all the years of experience, he has had handling the media spotlight; so much so, he’s starting to shine with his honesty, integrity and determination to our cause. The jury may still be out for some on his managerial credentials to turn around our fortunes, but he his beyond reproach on his leadership in handling the current situation we are in.
Like you @LeedsCityRam I so hope he’s here and given a decent chance of managing without his hands tied. Some say Cocu had bad luck and never got a fair chance. Rooney has had an even worse stacked deck.
For all his off field antics the media love to trip him up on, as a manager he’s maturing immensely and I’m optimistic all this learning on the job, will be to our benefit next season. He’s no quitter for sure, let’s see if his winning mentality can get us somewhere on a reasonably level playing field to everyone else.

If we can believe reports in the papers Captain Tom will be allowed to leave for free in January. Rooney will have to pick a new captain when he sees which players are still with us. We can debate all day long if Tom was good value for £37,000 a week, but getting that amount off the wage bill could help us keep Knight.

There may be, but the admins have gone pretty quiet about the multiple bidders piece and thus far, we only know that Chris is happy to take a punt irrespective of sanctions / relegation. This might be simply because others are working under NDA but until Quantuma confirm as much and we get to see the cut of their jib, Chris remains in pole position in my mind.
I don't really get this whole, 'he's too brash, too American' thing anyway. I think he was simply trying to have the craic with us fans and make sure we knew where his heart is. I'll not be issuing any character judgements based on such limited evidence anyway. He obviously took onboard the criticism in any case as he's dialled things down most recently. I take that as a positive thing, though I concede that others may take more persuading.

Hoping the small number of naysayers will cut CK some slack now. The fact that he's looking to press ahead despite recent events really ought to be heartening and he does seem a genuine guy who is in it for the long-haul. We all need to rally around him and make the guy feel welcome if he does put up as seems very likely.
