But how can you justify making, in my opinion, the most inaccurate and biased post on the thread and then ask others to 'dial it down'?

That's absurd. The state of Israel have been committing unarguable crimes against the Palestinian people since 1948. That's not even debatable.  Hamas commit them too, no doubt, but to say it's only them...??  That's surely an example of a profound pro-Israeli bias.

    A few points.
Do I think posts like mine fuel antisemetism? Yes. Because I think racists will piggyback any cause that's aimed at their target.
9/11. Racists birthday party. But that doesn't mean everybody who supported "war on terror" was motivated by racism.
Any pro Palestinian supporter, including Jews and Jews For Justice For Palestinians can't allow the argument against Israel to be silenced by cries of antisemetism. Just like the racists mobs that tag along must be condemned and actually irreparable harm to the cause.
As for "if you only target Israel..." Well I criticise America all the time. ALL the time. I despise American and Russian war games. I despise American Imperialism. I was in the Ukraine thread criticising America to the very point I felt like I was defending Putin! But Russia are just the other side of the coin and the actual invasion was a indefensible. But many of Putin's claims about American Imperialism I felt were valid.
Are you implying my passion for this conflict is motivated by a hatred of Jews? I could explain why personally I care but I don't see how it's relevant when I'm just some knobber on a football forum.
As for Hamas are the only criminals. Absolute nonsense. Totally not true. An incredible claim

Scanning related media, it's hard to believe that the West has not taken leave of its senses, with hostilities intensifying, not calming and still nothing more than mealy-mouthed PR statements to show. There's so much divisive BS being peddled it is beginning to feel somewhat hopeless. In truth, I think Hamas are scum, but I cannot countenance the conduct of the IDF since the opening atrocities. Their entire demeanour is utterly repugnant and the ongoing senseless slaughter of innocent civilians is as bad as it gets.
What a time to be alive, huh!

I don't think it's ridiculous to have safeguarding measures in place to ensure that wildlife and the planetary ecosystem is not adversely affected by what is effectively large scale engineering work
The idea of super rich people and corporations thinking that they are above such things is one of the biggest problems the planet faces.
It's sorted now, and that's a good thing.

    A ramit rant
The hard truth is that people are pawns because they allow themselves to be.  The victim is not innocent of being victimized is another way to put it and just writing that will have some up in arms in outrage, but it is true none the less.  We choose to submit to power, we allow governments to treat us like property to do with as they please and when they do we place the blame on them, when it is really our own fault, for we have the true power when we stand together, we get our way when we unite and take collective responsibility for the planet we share and how it is governed.
But here lies the problem, we collectively avoid responsibility, it is convenient for us to have someone else than ourselves to blame, politicians, industrialists, media, generals.  We either change ourselves or continue to moan about the state of the world as we repeatedly fall for the divide and rule methods placed against us.  With all our problems of division, we still have much more in common than divides us.
Imagine if war is declared and no one shows up.

Never met B4, but in 2020 I  mentioned my mum passed away in a post somewhere and within minutes B4 private messaged to say he was there if I needed to talk - he regularly messaged me checking to see if i was ok anr I can only thank him for showing such compassion to somewhere he never knew and had nothing to gain from this.

Reading through these posts, this seems to be a similar theme and shows what a lovely human being he was.
RIP mate, thanks for the positive vibes and I hope Derby do it this year 🙏

I have some very sad news this evening.  Daniel (B4) died earlier this week. He was just 38.
As you know, he has been battling numerous health conditions for a long time, but always remained cheerful  and was the most loyal supporter of his beloved Rams, home and away.
He was at the match at Crewe and gave his full support as always.
Daniel leaves behind a grieving dad, mum and sister. Our thoughts go out to them and we only hope they get a little comfort from knowing how well loved Daniel is by all who know him.
Here are a couple of photos that his dad agreed could be shared. I'm sure many of you have others, as Daniel loved a selfie at the game.
David is hoping to arrange a more fitting tribute in time, but for now please raise a glass in his memory and a good Derby win today. I am sure that's what Daniel would have been doing tonight.

The problem here is that the media are now addicted to polarising issues in order to survive. If they can create a "them and us" scenario and get both sides arguing like crazy about it, their ad counters spin like a money machine
But, what I've observed on this issue is that actually, the majority of people have settled on a consensus that war is bad, killing is bad and that there ought to be a concerted effort from our governments to try and broker some peace. Not wave through the idea of the Israeli "defence" strategy continual indiscriminate killing of children, as somehow being a proportionate response.
It's obvious in this thread. We are usually at each others throats over stuff but look at which posts are getting the most cheers and likes.
There is no media incentive to report on the consensus. Depressing

Ex-Navy here. Me too - I haven’t worn a poppy in years and the current climate in which Remembrance Day is used to evoke some sense of blind nationalism, whilst our government aids the bombing of civilians in other countries, has reinforced my commitment to never wear one again.
That said - if you do, fair enough. Displays like this always feel fairly crass to me but I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t have been allowed to go ahead.

Hope Rammie will be wearing his poppy to make up for it. #respect.

I'm a big poppy fan myself... but never been keen on forcing it on folk.
As it stands, the whole on-pitch Last Post, uniformed Ram Mascot, Ranked soldiers, silent reflection etc can be ignored by those who don't agree.
Not so easy to ignore if one of those poppy petals are on your seat... and a dead cert to be booed (or worse) if you don't hold it aloft!  It's unfair to force this on folk in these seats, as disappointing as it is for me to write that!
Yeah, I'd have loved to have seen it, and much respect to those that tried to organise it, but it wasn't the wisest move by the club/SLO to have agreed to it in the first place.
Those of us that do like to display the poppy will already be doing so.  That in itself should be enough.

I agree with your view that it is a national day of mourning, and we show our respects for those who have lost their lives in war.  We do that through 2 minutes of silence.
Are you saying we shouldn’t mourn dead innocents from Palestine, who are also victims of war?
(And I don’t mean Hamas - their actions should be rightly condemned and may all who commit atrocities be brought to justice)

Then I thought you'd be supportive or tolerant of the vast majority of protesters calling for a ceasefire and a solution.
It seems to me that it's mostly people who refuse to ask Israel to stop such as Suella Braverman are the only ones that are focusing on the thugs that tag along.
How else do you influence the government's to stop supporting what Israel are doing? There is another way to force governments to negotiate. But it's even uglier.
If there's silence from the public then nothing will change.
I mean, it won't change anyway and when we do suddenly manage to force a ceasefire on Israel it will be conveniently too late. And Hamas will STILL exist.
Israel had a huge opportunity on the 7th to make the most of the sympathy. Despite their role in a much longer wider conflict it would have been difficult to paint them a villain to your average Joe. But Netenyahu and is mob are no better than Hamas. They ARE Hamas. But they only have to press buttons to kill Palestinians.

    Yeah, I can't argue that history isn't filled with example of groups of people being appalling to one another.  And of course violence breeds violence. It's hard to think of the barbaric attack by Hamas on Oct.7 without thinking of the line in an Auden poem which read;
'Those to whom evil is done, do evil in return.'
The decades long unjust treatment of the Palestinian people, creates Hamas, and their violence brings about further violence from the Israelis. The current relentless bombing of Gaza will result in more violence in return, and the cycle will continue on and on with no end in sight.
