    I feel dirty, ashamed almost.

I listened to the first half and thought that we were lucky to be 0-0 against Evans’ “non football” team. I felt it was a matter of time before we conceded.

So I resorted to a good book that I’m  bang in the middle of and left Gillette Soccer Saturday on the screen with sound down low, as most of the in studio pundits bore me. Occasionally I’d glance up just in case it was the moment of the inevitable 0-1 scoreflash, but as 4.30 came and went, my hopes began to flicker that we’d hold on to a best case goalless scenario.

Usually I give in about ten minutes into the second half and re tune to RD commentary but yesterday I didn’t feel an ounce of temptation. I know not why. “Oh, ye of little faith” springs to mind.

I’d gone to put the kettle on as the full times began to dribble through, and wandered back in, hoping to see us appear.

Then we did. 1-0. Louie Sibley (90).

You just can’t describe that feeling of totally unexpected joy. It’s like a bolt of lightning and the decibel level suddenly and completely involuntarily reached that of an AC/DC concert. Thank goodness SWMBO was out shopping.

The only player left in our entire squad who could produce a moment of magic, had done so. I didn’t even know he was on the pitch, as I’d tuned out before the subs.

    Oh, this beautiful football club.

It’s a Stockport thing friend. We have the edge over the Derbyshire Rams.

I will try and clarify it for you. We currently are
4th luckiest in the league on this (xG vs actual)
5th luckest in the league on this (same metric)
5th or 6th luckiest in the league on xG points vs actual (-7 excluding today, same source)

    By my database
Chances to goals scored (3.09, avg 3.72) is as lucky as it gets after 33 games
Chances to goals conceded (4.17) is luckier than 72% of teams
The two combined (1.08) is luckier than 86% of teams - for reference last season was quite unlucky and this was only 0.38 against
Finally on results we are 8 points better off, this is luckier than 88% of teams

I’ll take the luck till the end of the season and finish second. My Mum was Irish and if I can throw a sprinkling of that our way then I’ll be a very contented Ram.

A Flukey win would be their keeper attempting a clearance that rebounds off a retreating Barkhuizen’s backside and into the net. A Flukey win would be the intake of breath from the South Stand prior to belting out a hymn about Mendez-Laing’s impressive physique sucking the ball into the goal, a Flukey win would have been them scoring an own goal.

We defended our goal, and changed from about 60 mins onwards to attack until we scored a winner. Smith played the pass to NML, Smith who was subbed on to change the shape of the side to free Max Bird in midfield and move Wilson to his natural rwb role. Sibley scored the goal having been brought on as one of the forward players in place of Barkhuizen.

It was a horrible game of football, and I agree Warne is limited tactically and perhaps has the wrong mindset towards approaching home games in which we might expect to be the dominant side, but to call the win today luck is genuinely baffling in my opinion.

Deep breaths @Caerphilly Ram…. That’s what I take reading some posts!
    ….. And relax

Right at the start, "All we can do is keep winning. The gaffer's given us a target of 10 wins and that's another one ticked off." Which suggests that Exeter wasn't the first win of the 10 targetted by Warne.

Mention for how good the pitch was to play on too…..hint for Pride Park improvement please I’m sure.
