That's because you took it upon yourself to count all questioning of the decision as criticism, and then defend criticism whether it was there or not!
I'm not having a go at people who think Warne has made a difference though? I think he has myself.
I'm saying there's no need to criticise one person to praise another, rewrite history, ignore circumstance  or use blatant double standards in order to justify an opinion that the new thing is better than the old thing.
There's has been a hell of a lot of that about though.
Even just listening to a quick 5 minutes of Radio Derby after the game was enough to see what route the narrative was going down.

    I don't remember tbh, apologies.
I'm not sure what it is you think he did wrong, exactly, with the options available but even so...
...that'll be top of the table Plymouth, full of energy with a younger squad, a full pre-season behind them with a cohesive team in the form of its life, favourites-to-win-the-league-Ipswich-beating Plymouth, against the team put together in the manner ours was, with the age balance we've got, which had already been dealt a couple of injury blows and was, I'll say again, pretty fatigued by this point.
I think we simply lost to a better team who's strengths happened to directly exploit our weaknesses.
It's a decent example of just how quickly the overall picture was forgotten and how little patience and understanding was ever really in place though.

How on earth am I discrediting Paul Warne? What inflexibility?
I think you'll find I've treated every manager (or interim manager) with a fair mindset. I've praised them for good stuff, but not ignored their faults / errors even when it's been unpopular to do so and easier to sweep them under the carpet.
Warne will get the same as anyone else, I'm just not going to go overboard and declare him a godlike tactical genius after one match, a match where our players went in fresh after some R&R over the international break (quite important given our late start in pre-season and fitness levels after a heavy schedule of games) and potentially a degree of 'new manager bounce'
If anyone's got an agenda here, it isn't me!

You could say that Barkhuizen and NML aren't wing backs and are being played out of position. Against a team who attack us down the wings will they be good enough defensively? NML has shown himself to be dangerous when given the ball in the box, is his new role going to get the best out of him?
Bird's rejuvenation... again it's one game. Has he never had a good game going forward before, never got an assist or a goal? There was that cracker in the cup this season, albeit against weak opposition.
I think people just need to hold their horses a bit.
Going all-in on the praise after a single game, setting your stall out so early is never a great idea when assessing a new manager but it already feels like there's a bit of a 'Cult of Warne' going on.

Bird got a very similar assist versus Plymouth (although was a bit crap otherwise).
I nearly posted before the game about how obvious it was going to be that we’d score and possibly win and all of the “narrative” would be about how Warne has got us firing away from home. Despite as pointed out the performance was barely different to Charlton or Fleetwood and the only difference was a slice of luck.
I don’t mind Warne, I find myself warming to him and I’m a bit more comfortable with him now I don’t feel he’s been brought in as a promotion or bust type manager. But it’s all very predictable. At least by stalls being put out so early, stubbornness will stop the same names starting to put pressure on when we lose a couple of games, which we will.

I'm glad we've got Warne too.
I'm not 'glad' we don't have Rosenior (nor am I unhappy) because I find that a very churlish attitude.

No no no get it right.
They came here because they wanted to play for Wayne Rooney.
Everything positive with the club on and off the pitch in the past 18 months was because of Rooney. Anything negative on the pitch was because Rosenior.
With him gone, anything positive on the pitch now is because of something Warne has done, putting right the bad work of Rosenior.
At least that's what the flies-around-s*** nature of some posters would have you believe.

Amazing what a good rest when the other team have played 2 games in that time, and a bit of new manager bounce can do.
The pendulum may have swung but it's too early to really tell, give it 5-10 games of a heavy schedule and see is we can keep today's performance up.

Thing is I don't really think we've got anyone at the club who is perfect for either wing back slot really. The demands on the wing back with the way are setting up are enormous. They are expected to be the plan A of attack without really any wide support and also expected to get back to cover defensively if need be. It needs someone very good in 1v1s, has a good cross and a massive engine.
Forsyth - Is a bit too old and his legs aren't quite what they were. Would have been perfect 5+ years ago. His crossing can be inconsistent but its probably the best we have and he does have the ability to put some very dangerous crossing in. He's also not the most likely to beat his man 1v1.
Roberts - Nominally more a defensive left back/left centre back. Has got pace, stamina and is comfortable in midfield areas though.
NML - He's really a winger and isn't the best crosser (especially from deep). Excellent ball carrier though and can cause havoc. Probably ok if we can compensate for him defensiveley a bit and allow him license to run infield.
Barkhuizen- Similar really to NML. Also add that with both of them they got disheartened playing wing back at other clubs. Question marks over his stamina.
Odurah - Probably the most suited to RWB in the squad in the long run. Quite possibly not ready for first team football just just yet.
Knight - Would probably play the role well but is clearly earmarked for midfield.
For now NML or Barkhuizen are likely the best options for RWB. LWB is tricky though especially as just inside is likely Hourihane who doesn't have the engine he once did. Fozzy might leave you lethargic on one side. Roberts might leave you a bit too blunt. Barkhuizen might leave you too open and too little options to change things on the right.

I mean, wasn't really a criticism, just an observation.
Think we created more chances at Charlton, Shrewsbury and Fleetwood than we did today.
Thought we started well today but didn't really look like scoring until the mistake from their defender.
Maybe we are just tired if LR was in charge for 34 away matches between August and September...

They're more like some bloke who's been barred for s******* themselves and projectile vomiting on people the last time they were in an 'exclusive' nightclub, who's tried to get back in a number of times but is always spotted by the bouncer and thrown on his arse, no entry.
One time he manages to sneak past the bouncer when he isn't looking, he's back in the club. He deserves to be in the club. That isn't enough though, he thinks he deserves to be in the VIP area.
And so he sets his sights, he needs to walk the walk so goes to the bar and orders a drink, it comes to £5 but he throws a £20 note at the bar and tells them to keep the change. That'll get people's attention. He's a proper big shot, one of the elite.
Approaching the VIP area, he lifts the cordon, those already sat there think "who the flip is this guy?", they tell him to leave, he refuses and goes to sit down in an empty seat. They take exception to this, drag him out of the seat and give him a good beat down.
The bouncers are called over, he cries assault. "Don't you know who I am? I was coming here before you lot were born!" The bouncers take one look at his bloodied face, then another before yes, they do  recognise him, but not in the way he wants them to. He's thrown out, again.
Everyone in the club who witnessed it is laughing their tits off at this delusional fool, everyone in the queue outside thinks "thank god we aren't that p****!"
