Well our owner will need to understand that if that is his philosophy going forward, however laudable, it will probably lead to a certain level of pitch mediocrity, fans becoming disillusioned and a subsequent fall in attendances, revenue and interest. Sadly there doesn't appear to be such a thing in modern football (especially at this level) as a self sufficient club or at least a successful one. We will need occasionally to push the boat out to sign the kind of players that will get us out of the division otherwise we will end up being stuck here for years.

Which is what Mel Morris did...

  2. People need to realise the financial woes of the league we are in. There wont be £2 million plus sat in a bank account from the Knight transfer, or the Bielek transfer. It will be stage payments based on various things such as appearances etc.The payments will come in, which will then go into a cash flow forecast, which will then drive the clubs budget plans.

Given the total turnover might well be £15 million ish, and a wage bill of £8-9 million, it leaves very little after running the academy and stadium costs etc. The days of even Shaun Barker type fees is long gone, and I'm sure even a free transfer is never free, after paying the % fees to agents etc.

When they stated last season they were ahead of budget, it quite likely meant the cash flow was better, but I doubt we are talking millions better. In this league hundreds of thousands are the figures talked about, even for us larger clubs.

Some good players gone and replaced by a few journeymen but it’s the third division so maybe ok 🤷‍♂️

Which is exactly what Arthur Cox did very successfully. People need to realise the club is not awash with cash. Any good performance financially last season v budget wont be sat in a bank account. It just means there was less of negative cash flow. I doubt the club is generating a profit currently, if we are lucky we will be just about covering our costs. selling Bielek and Knight will give us less outgoings and generate a little cash, but that will soon be burned up on other outgoings over the next few months. Lets get real!

It sounds like the race for Alfie May's signature has come to a conclusion - believe it or not, a League Two side in Gillingham apparently announcing the news tomorrow with their new shirt unveiling.

Of course, it could be nonsense - but perhaps another potential signing to chalk off the board.

That really does not not make any sense if true. Why would he go there?

  5. He’s always caught my eye as a decent player when playing against us, could be an excellent signing. With the outgoings so far easily covering his wages, then a player like him combining with Didsy could be electric 😀

  6. I'm very positive. The club is well run, debt free, has a well regarded manager, and a sensible owner who won't be waving large cheques about or giving out stupid unaffordable contracts. Hopefully some development over the summer, with some out and a few in. I suspect not as many as some would like.

When does the new season kick off.

Also lets get rid of the "Duck the EFL" and and " They docked us 21 points" please and move on.

A bone cruncher who doesnt spend much of the season suspended would be excellent. For years now we've just not seemed tough enough and bullied. How difficult would it be to get such a player who also has a creative spark though under restrictions? Over to you recruitment guy from Oxford

By the way any news/rumour re Bielik as yet?

Like Barry Bannan did yesterday. Great player, and would be ideal for our situation. Busy, creative and can be physical too. I've always rated him. Possibly getting on a bit now though.

No more madness than mixing fans that want to actually SIT in the seat they paid for and those that want to stand all the time in the seated area.....!

Yes indeed, and what about fans who would like to go to away games, but cannot as they are unable to stand for 45 minutes at a time. Hardly fair is it?

  9. I also find Rams TV to be an excellent watch, with an occasional guest appearance from Martin Fisher always a treat, but Owen is an excellent presenter.

Areas for improvement - Sometimes the camera work is not so good particularly at away games, zooming in too much and panning across too fast which means the detail is lost. Particularly at corners.

Bad point - Get rid of the pumping techno music which is very grating. Even worse that bloody advert for Mercedes cars at half time is particularly grating. I turn off the sound as soon as that comes on!
