Not seen anything today about him going to Newcastle. They were linked back in May.

Whoops. Just seen the date on the report I read this morning.... May 18th!

    Apologies.

Having such a large deficit is his fault and spending 200 million on it was entirely up to him. The club could easily be run at break even if he'd wanted to. You can thank him for a lot of things, but this is just silly.

And if he had run the club at break even over the last seven years, would we not be complaining about being in the position that Ipswich Town are now?

If we’re not gonna be out of embargo to be able to sign players before the window shuts we may aswell continue talks to get the smallest deduction possible.

I wouldn't worry too much about the closing of the Transfer Window as there are so many free agents available this year and they can be signed at any time - as long as the club is not under an embargo course.

  4. Let's assume that the financial information demanded within the punishment for the accounting breach has been presented, I am guessing the 'constructive dialogue' that is ongoing centres around culpability.

I think we have to assume at this point that restated accounts are reflecting a breach in P&S allowances and therefore a further punishment is due. We don't know that of course, but the fact this is still rumbling on (and the fact we used a non-standard amortisation policy in the first place - why do that unless it was 'needed'?) points that way.

It seems logical that both sides want to settle the matter so are perhaps ready to set aside the full EFL disciplinary protocols to get things sorted. I would guess the argument will be centring on the fact that, by accepting the 2016 accounts, the EFL removed the necessity of the club altering its course for 2017 and, indeed a few subsequent seasons.

The club will be arguing that the EFL accept some culpability in this matter and that a punishment should reflect that.

For what it's worth (not very much!) I think we'll end up with a 6 point deduction like Sheffield Wednesday did last year. I'm not saying the 'crimes' are anything related, but regulators love to hide behind perceived precedent.

  5. Allsop has not covered himself in glory in his two appearances to date so, while certainly not writing the lad off, if Marshall is behind him on perceived ability then his game really had gone downhill!

Of course, we all know Marshall's current plight is more financial/political. I hope he gets his move; at 36 and having seen his place in the national team taken by someone else, he doesn't want to be rotting in the wings.

Am I right in thinking short of being there tonight there’s literally no way of watching this? Not even if you take a trip to France?

    EFL are a shambles man.

How our world has changed! Two years ago, the majority Rams games could only be seen by buying a ticket and turning up at the ground - now we feel short changed if its not on our laptops!

    Planet earth.

I said IF WE WERE LOOKING TO GET PROMOTED, I am quite aware that we are not looking at getting promoted.

So why make the comment then? We’re all best playing the hand we are currently holding.

Totally agree that it suits our situation now, if we were looking to get promoted and establish ourselves in the Premier League I don't think it would be a good position to be in.

What planet are you on? How can we be ‘looking to get promoted’ in current circumstances?

Rooney can only deal with current circumstances and, in the context of those, assembling a squad that is competitive to keep us up is the only priority.

its early days, and the squad remains painfully thin, but he’s used the resources available to him very well so far.

  9. Can't help but feel the EFL will not offer any relaxation - save for the de-classification of the 'Chorley Professionals' - until the Cub at least post the updated accounts they have been ordered to submit. Of course, they may have already done this, but I get the feeling they haven't.

Is August 18th the deadline for them to be in? We MIGHT see some player movement after that but I would guess nothing before unless a player(s) is/are sold first.

  10. On the positive side.... No matter when a change of ownership happens there will be opportunity to add to the squad as this season -more than any before it - the pool of free agents beyond the transfer window will be huge.

Assuming there is some budget head room, we could change our fortunes dramatically with four free agents - and I bet they wouldn't be demanding top dollar either.

Not that I am suggesting we sign him, but it's staggering that Tom Huddlestone has not played since leaving us a year ago. There must be some pragmatism settling in with some of these discarded high earners.
