On the plus side this suggests that Bolton aren’t in great form themselves and we might still catch them?

I’m not sure, given our current form and confidence levels, we can play possession football. I’d much rather we got in front and became solid and difficult to break down, especially away from home.

I don’t think possession stats hold much value at all. At this time of the season, and with our current form, the result was everything. We went 0-1 up away from home after 4 minutes, of course a reasonable home team were going to have possession. But they didn’t score until they were given a penalty. They had very few shots on target, less than we did actually. If we’d got the 0-1 away win I would have been delighted.

For me it was about time we made a different decision in the second half and looked to be solid while 1-0 up and made defensive substitutions. And it so nearly worked. I wish we’d done it second half against MK Dons as well. I would have been delighted with 1-0 wins in our last 2 games, as at this stage of the season the points are way more important than the performances. We are struggling to score goals so we should be looking to keep clean sheets in my opinion.
And let’s not forget the “1-0” Billy Davies team won a play offs while the amazing Steve McClaren team didn’t.

My biggest frustration yesterday was that we lost control of the game in the second half after the howling for penalties. It was still 1-0. We needed a calm head to get everyone re focused and have a solid 5 minutes.
But no, we left the back door open for an equaliser against such an inferior opponent.
The basis of our long unbeaten run was clean sheets. If we could get back to keeping clean sheets we’d make the play offs easily. The basis of our recent poor run has been conceding really poor goals including the one yesterday.
We should have won 1-0 which would have been a good result.
If we miss out on the play offs it will be down to ourselves and no one else.
The priority signing for the summer in my view is a strong leader on the pitch with a calm head respected and listened to by the other players. Either a centre half or centre mid.

I’m sure Jeff Lynne is very knowledgable!

Warne must know something about how to succeed in League One?

Warne has a 4 year contract, until he has his own players he shouldn’t be judged.
Clowes won’t sack Warne anyway, his recent interview for Marketing Derby talked about 5 years to become an established Championship team.
I’m glad Clowes is the fan in charge of the club and not some of the clowns on here!

I love live stand up comedy. This year I have tickets for Nikki Glaser (first time live), Peter Kay (first time live) and Sarah Millican (seen her live 3 times before, always brilliant).
Over the years I’ve seen too many to mention but loved Reeves and Mortimer, Newman and Baddiel, Frank Skinner and Fern Brady to name a few.
Been to many a Funhouse Comedy night at the Old Bell in Derby too, always a good laugh and have found the compare and at least 2 of the 3 acts to be worth seeing.
On my wish list Taylor Tomlinson.

I like Warne as a bloke, he comes across really well in interviews, both his own and others talking about him. I also think he will get us promoted out of League 1. His big challenge will be how he performs in the Championship with a club our size. Comparing with his Rotherham record in the Championship is not a fair comparison but he and everyone else will be aware of it. I hope he turns out to be a great manger for us but at this point I think it’s way too early to tell.

I would pick Wildsmith, Smith, Forsyth, Cashin, Roberts, Bird, Hourihane, Sibley, Mendez-Laing, McGoldrick, Dobbin.
If this team could keep a clean sheet I think there might be a goal in it.
I fear a first 11 containing Collins though and a defeat. I hope I’m wrong!
-
Our best midfield has been Bird, Hourihane and Knight. It lacks a solid tackler and lacks a captain-like personality, but we are lacking these qualities in our midfield squad. An open, non-bullying game suits this midfield but we rarely encounter this type of game, especially away from home.

I would very much take a draw today. Keep the distance between us and them and one less game to go. A win would be amazing but we haven’t shown the capability to win a tough away game all season.
A clean sheet would also be nice, we have a much better chance if we can return to the defensive form of a few months ago.

Peterborough 1-0 Derby

After the three recent home games where we drew and lost I’m struggling to look at any fixture as easier. As always it’s about what we do. If we play well in any League One fixture we have a great chance of a result. The issue is will we play well?
I just hope the performances and results against Peterborough and Ipswich don’t have such a damaging effect that we can’t pick ourselves back up again.
Having said all this, the league table doesn’t lie after 46 games, if we finish in the top 6 we deserved it, if we don’t we didn’t.

8 points from 4 games is indeed a good return, and it could have been 12. Now we need to beat Burton Albion which I think we’ve only done once in 5 league games.
