Archie reacted to Gaspode in Vaping
I'd argue that there are than far more than two issues, for example:
no one knows (yet) what damage is potentially being done by the chemicals that are being inhaled - and as they are un-regulated and un-controlled, there's every possibility that there are some real nasties included in a product that folk have convinced themselves is good for their health (because it's less bad than tobacco). I await the flood of compensation claims when people start developing haorrible diseases in 10-20 years time.... the anti-social behaviour of a lot (not all) of vapists is arguably worse than smokers as they blow large clouds of fruity badness over all and sundry the large scale use of rechargable lithium-ion batteries by people who don't understand the potential dangers (again linked to lack of regulation and control) - cheap batteries are dangerous Stopping people smoking is obviously a good thing - stopping them by offering an alternative that no-one understands the implications of is arguably not....

Archie reacted to Day in Vaping
Observation.
More kids/younger adults are vaping than back in the older days with cigarettes.
"Looking cool" was always the entry point into smoking, yet these vapes are clearly more appealing with the bright colours and fruity flavours.
Kids can go out smoke one all night on the park with mates and go home without stinking and getting the parental rollicking.
I'm sure studies will show at some point they are shocking for your body, some lad in the news ended up in a coma through smoking them.
Ban em I say.

Archie got a reaction from Papahet in v Wigan (H) Match Thread
Looking at that, we've had a terrible transfer window thus far, some of the glaring areas that needed to be addressed from last season just haven't been touched. I don't believe that it's hard to find good players to represent this great club, even with our limited financial situation. It appears the manager and his assembled team just don't have the contacts across the UK, Europe, further afield..
Oh well, onwards and upwards.

The display looked good, nice to see some familiar faces, still on for another hour or tomorrow as well before the match I believe.
putting our history into our future !😍

Archie reacted to ollycutts1982 in Deli Alli interview.
Just watched the interview by G Nev with Deli. A really good/hard watch. Sheds light on his early life, which sounded horrific, and goes some way to explain why his career has faulted of late. Would recommend anyone to watch it. Maybe have some tissues close by. Never really thought too much of him, mainly due to how the media portray him but have the upmost respect for him now. Really hope he gets back on track and kicks on. Will watch out for him from now on with fly rest interest.

Archie got a reaction from DavesaRam in Season tickets on sale
Yep, I'm one of them with even higher costs geting over from Istanbul. Managed 4 home games and just 1 away last season. Will probably do about the same give or take this time around.

4. Expats. I live in the Netherlands. 10 years ago I could, for a Saturday game, fly in on the Friday morning, 2 nights hotel, match ticket, 3 days food and drink, travel from and to the airport and back home Sunday evening all for a mere £250. Fast forward to pre covid and the cost had gone up to £350. Last season it was up to £500 (did 5 home games) and the 2 away games I came back for (hospitality at FGR and Barnsley) cost closer to £800 a pop. It's not a question of "plum" games, it's a question of having the money and it not clashing with life over here. Looking at between 6 and 8 home games this season, one a month roughly. Quite sure there'll be a plum one in there somewhere but there'll also be a Wycombe/ Cheltenham/Fleetwood/Stevenage or two to compensate.
5. There'll be those with shift patterns that don't permit a season ticket as well or dependants for whom they care......

Archie reacted to loweman2 in The Great Exhibition
As many of you know I am one of the original trustees of The Rams Heritage Trust, we are a group of four like minded individuals who have put in a lot of hard work time and expense to try to preserve as much of the history of Derby County Football Club as possible for the next generations of Rams fans.
our wish to have a more permanent home to share this great collection with you all was strengthened when we were invited by the club to put on a display at Pride Park at the beginning of the month.
we were blown away by the interest and support, to say that it was a pop up display with no other events nearby and road closures due to the Ramathon we did not expect many to turn out but they did in their many hundreds over the two days.
we were further supported by the presence of David Clowes and his good lady wife and ex players.
it was hard work setting up and taking down in a short time but so worth it.
we will be doing another event at the Grand Slam Charity cricket match at Spondon Cricket club on the 16th July.
here is a small taster of the display. 👍🐏😍
