Ghost of Clough reacted to Steve How Hard? in Derby County vs Exeter City (H) Match Thread
Makes such a massive difference when you have a centre forward that can receive the ball with his back to goal and bring others in to play.

Now you have me wondering if:
a) Your family are tiny in stature?
b) There’ll only be 2 of you in attendance?
c) Youll be eating very small portions?
and I’m more bothered by this than tonight’s result!

What absolute bull...
People will accept a defeat if the level of performance in good enough. It isn't, and hasn't been often enough this season. Hence, why people are fed up with what we're being given.

Now you see I find the above as talking football and I can get on board with the idea there may be nowhere near enough of this kind of work going on in training, I want us to get the ball forward with urgency MOST of the time when we have it but not by lumping it but rather passing and moving , that involves the team working as a unit , moving forward as one , having shape , drilled on the training ground to the point where players know where others will be and also the options they need to provide for the man on the ball and I agree it’s not happening, if that persists then warne either doesn’t want it or can’t coach it

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from Carnero in Will Clowes patience soon run out?
I showed some graphs a while back relating to Warne's point per game record compared with other mangers (can't remember which thread it was in). This was around 15 games ago and roughly Warne's 45th in charge. If I recall correctly, I suggested something along the lines of "it'll be important to see if we trend from this point on." At that point, Warne's overall record as very similar to Cocu's after the same number of games, and I argued if we followed a similar trend, Warne will be gone.
However, as the graph below shows, our ppg record has ever so slightly increased and is now back to where we were at the end of last season. Under Warne, we're basically a side which confirms a top 6 spot on the final day, like with Rowett and Lampard. As an owner who has set the target of promotion, Clowes will accept this and make the decision at the end of the season depending on how we do in the Playoffs (if we finish there). A drop off in results would be cause for review at this point in the season, and I refer to my post on Sunday for the suitable review periods - the next being after this batch of 6 games (4 in the league, 2 in the cup).
To avoid the playoff lottery, we will need to finish in the top 2, with 100 points being the aim at this point. At 2.5 ppg for the rest of the season, that would require Warne's overall ppg record to surpass Mac1's by the end point of my graph, improving on his current 1.60 to 1.92

The last time Derby spent a fee was Jozwiak in 2020, with Portsmouth also making a paid transfer in the same window.. In the same period of time that we haven't been able to spend, Portsmouth have chosen not to. In thr 2 years from Feb 2020 to Feb 2022, we spend £1.8m on agents fees to their £350k

Fair points.
Id say Barks is a low bar though, almost everything he touched on Sat seemed to turn to s****, outside of that decent 10 min spell he had in the first half.
Not surprised by the crossing stat. When he gets the opportunity to Sibs can put in some very useful crosses.

Barks is no CF he is too light weight and runs out of steam too easily to press for 60 mins. Agreed he is a good finisher but not any good with his back to goal.

Whilst I don't like him playing on the wing, only Barkhuizen had more shots on target, only Collins had more key passes, and only Nyambe had more successful dribbles. However, he gave the ball away less than Barkhuizen through being dispossessed or bad touches. He also had more accurate crosses than anyone else, making up 40% of our total, whilst matching Hourihane's crosses (which includes corners).

Tuesday 25th October 2022, home to Exeter, the attendance was 24,640. Our lowest home gate of the season up until that point. It'll be interesting to see how the attendance compares tonight. It'll be a shame if we do drop below 24,000 for only the 2nd time since our relegation, as the players still deserve our support. But the general mood suggests a lot of STHs can't be bothered turning up at the moment. The recent weather and roads into Derby won't help either.

That depends on when we start putting more emphasis on possession.
