  1. Perfect description. He had a job to do, and did it well... and has the medals to prove it. Respect, and RIP sir.
  2. ... and a young spritely Rodney Stewart, way back in the noughties too. It seems for whatever reason, the prefered "outdoor arena" these days is the cricket ground. 🤷‍♂️
  3. I don't recall... but having just Googled the fixtures, it was followed by... 4-0 at Spurs... home loss to Brum... 6-0 at Anfield... I think it must have been around this time that doubt started to... oh... but wait... what's that you say?... Newcastle at home.?.. We're saved! Hoorah! Bring on The Arsenal... 🤣
  4. How we do it, I don't know, How we do it, I don't care, All I know is Derby's on our way... Awaaaaaaaaay Win. 0-1 Collins pen
  5. Yep. And 4 days later, on the way out of the CoM Stadium, having only lost 1-0 to Citeh, I thought "I REALLY think we'll do alright this season"! 🤣
  6. Had a quick reckon up purely by glancing at the current 4 x divisions. Looks like I'm on Current: Prem: 16 Champs: 17 L1: 11 (inc 2 x DCFC) L2: 6 Total: 50 If I had to take a punt at current non-league, I'd take a stab at 6? Based on the majority of my full fandom was late 70's/early '80's! 🤣 Some are former grounds (eg Highbury, WHL, Boleyn Ground, Ayresome Park etc... not been to their newer grounds) I've included both old and new where appropriate (eg Man City x 2, Fester x 2) And of course, 2 x Derby. Not counted my sole Wembley visit... our last visit v Villa. I've counted Wimbledon at MK Hockey stadium, but not MK Dons (or ye olde Wimbledon of That London!) I did count The Dell, but not counted St Mary's, as I only popped in there for a nosy on a non-match day, as was working next door, and the groundsman's gate was open! 😁 The more "major" clubs/grounds (historically) I've never been to... to my shame... include Leeds, Brum, Sunderland (either), Fulham, Palace, Burnley, Hull, Swansea, Blackburn.
  7. Remember ye olde footballer cards/stickers? Saving them up to complete the album? This is when you should have had them, but dropped a pack down the drain on the way out of the corner shop... xGOT, xGOT, xNOTGOT, xGOT, xNOTGOT, etc...
  8. It's all about the grounds, not the teams involved. That's the whole point. Son or no son, tell him to do one! 🤣
  9. Hurry... you'll need to jog to the end of the street... No 54 into town... Catch the MegaBus to Milton Keynes... Taxi to Luton... Flight to Plymouth... Hire an e-bike and cycle to Portsmouth... Pop in the corner shop for bread and milk (You'll need that when you get home)... Stop by at a local back street pub... Ask them to flick over from Eastenders to watch the footy... When they say No, dash into City Centre and find a better pub... Grab a drink, grab a table, and stand by it, to watch the game on a big screen... Thumb a lift home after the game... Home by Thursday! #Be More B4. 😁🤍🐏
  10. I noticed that. I smiled and applauded. This is not a time for honour and morality. Now is the time we need to join the masses, and sh***ouse our way to victory! 😁
  11. First off, go back to line 4, and ditch the word "Fault". Ain't no place for that sort of talk in here! Secondly, big up to you for opening up on a public web page. It ain't easy, but it is healthy! I did the same (different forum) back in 2016 when it became apparent that our granddaughter was highly unlikely to survive to a live birth, due to a rare but full on ("Edwards") Syndrome. (As it happened, given the odds we were given at the start, we took much solace from her making it through, and sharing a whole hour with us all, before taking her leave and heading for the stars.) To this day, I have absolutely no regrets about going "public", and took great comfort from the best wishes (and subsequent condolences) from my "on-line friends". Never bottle it up, and never be afraid of opening up, whether that be to professionals, close family, or even complete strangers on the internet. From this point, all we can do is offer our own best wishes to you both, and keep our fingers crossed for you. Even the minutest of percentages have been known to be overcome. 🤞 It appears you pair are together as one. Keep it that way, and you'll conquer anything and everything, regardless of how severe things may appear at any given moment. Stay strong FOR each other... and WITH each other! All the best to you both. xxx
  12. Wait 'til we get Sweet Caroline after the Carlisle game. Let's see who's cringin' then! 😁
  13. Seriously... I've only just noticed that's Eddie Lewis! I assumed the poster was Austrian, 'cos I thought it said ""Edelweiss"! f*** The Specsavers! 🤓
  14. They gave them one extra game, But we don't give fig 'Cos we are Derby County We know our games are rigged... Allez, allez, allez...
  15. Walked all the way to the game in glorious sunshine. No proper coat, just body warmer. Same for the first half of the walk home, then as I got to Jaguar, on that new exposed bike path adjacent to the A52, the hail battered me. My face was red raw! I remember thinking to myself... "OUCH! That smarts a little"! 👀 "Sunshine and showers" my arse! 🤬
  16. Can we not include the line "Take your teeth out, tell me what's wrong"? That's my all time classic song lyric, that is. Well, that and "I can see Deidre now Lorraine has gone"... obvs!
  17. 100+ pages on that Cambridge matchday thread then! I reckon Sky would enjoy that last day a lot more than us... at least until the final whistle! Not sure we all (on here) have sufficient good health to get through that in one piece! 😲
  18. If I had to witness a team getting back to back promotions resulting in a prem spot, I guess Ipswich would be as bearable as any. No particular fondness for them, but certainly no ill-feeling towards them either, and I recall a similarity between us both just after I got into the Rams (mid '70's). If I bothered to check, I suspect that similarity has pretty much remained for the past 50 years. I do however, remain jealous of their FA cup final win back in '78 though! Good luck to 'em, I say. EDIT: Didn't they hold the record for the number of failed Play Off attempts to reach the Prem at some stage? It could be argued they are about due this promotion.
  19. Nope. It's not meant to be taken seriously and/or be based on factual evidence. It is catchy, easy on the ear, and fun. What's not to like?
