RAM1966 reacted to strawhillram in From fighting -12 point deduction to acceptance of -21
I congratulate our negotiating team on getting the maximum penalty that was on the table, with an added bonus of transfer restrictions and wage limits for the rest of the season. well done

RAM1966 reacted to Tamworthram in Middlesbrough lodge £45m compensation claim
Exactly.
If their claim is against the club rather than the EFL then they have zero chance of recovering any of the money if they were to win.
As for Wycombe. As others have said, their claim is a joke as our irregularities occurred before they were even in the Championship. If they believe the penalties should have been applied last season then their claim should be against the EFL.
Can’t help but think this is all just newspaper nonsense.

Middlesbrough's claim might be legitimate to the exact extent of - gate receipts and TV money for play off semi.
They finished 7th. They were not as good a football team as the 6 above them. That's it.

RAM1966 reacted to Gaspode in Middlesbrough lodge £45m compensation claim
If he can prove it was our financial irregularities that prevented them getting to the playoffs; and if he can prove they would have won the semis; and if he can prove that they would have won the final, then he has a great case - otherwise it's notithing more than supposition and conjecture - be lucky to last 5 minutes in front of a competent judge....

RAM1966 reacted to Comrade 86 in To blame Derby fans for DCFC problems is nonsensical
In what parallel universe would spending the thick end of £15 mill on Anya, Butterfield and Johhnson give 'the impression the club was being run responsibly'?
We're not complicit, not at all, but let's not pretend we were hoodwinked either.

Mods!
I think we need a poll on who is really to blame for DCFC's current prediciment!
a) Mel Morris
b) @Curtains
c) All the fans
d) Richard Keogh
I mean, we all know the real answer (it's d) but it'd be fun to see the results.

Ah well, at least when we are relegated we will finally get some of these parachute payments I've been hearing so much about. Should make bouncing back to the champ pretty easy.. ?

Yes. He supports Forest for a start.

Would be strange to imagine anyone seriously blaming fans for predicament. Fans don’t have access to accounts. Financial managers/ CEOs/ Chairmen have the responsibility to make sure the club is run well enough.
The crazy money on wages was down to the management at the top- MM signed it all off I assume I guess Pearce is also to blame. Fans didn’t know who was on what wages. How could MM be £1mil a month down in 16/17 time. Financial mis management chasing premier league.

They're not though?
a) Punishment for adopting an improper accounting policy. Done.
b) Punishment for breaking FFP / overspending following restating the accounts. Ongoing.
c) Punishment for administration. Ongoing.
They're all treated as separate crimes - a) didn't necessarily have to lead to b), it just did in our case.
They're trying leverage b) against potential outcomes of c) which makes a bit of a mockery of the validity and evenness of b) but that's why they have the agree decision rule in place.
Sorry if you feel it's pointless, was just trying to understand your logic and explaining mine. There's no need to reply further to this message btw, I don't mind ?

I would only be happy with the admin team accepting the 12 point penalty for entering administration, if agreement is made with the EFL to honour the decision of the independent panel re the 100k fine and warning about future accounting practices. Also I would expect the EFL to advise Wycombe and Boro that any legal action would be futile.

If Percy and Nixon were able to write in plain English without leaving room for speculation then they’d be doing themselves out of a job.

The amortisation thing, as you say, was naive beyond ridiculous. That people within the club thought they could redefine the way we value our most important assets (the players) in a way that gave us considerable advantage over every other club in the division and to not expect that to subsequently be challenged was just schoolboy in it's thinking. You just can't change rules like that because you don't agree with them, life doesn't work that way and big institutions like the EFL (with all it's members) most certainly don't. And, like everything else that was tried in the past few years, all it was doing was kicking the can down the road - the club screwed up by allowing a number of high value, low return signings to be made in a short amount of time and then failed to get the club promoted to a place where that no longer mattered.
Net net: Mel gambled big, played fast and loose with things that he did not truly own, and his poor business knowledge (garnered largely on a lucky punt on an app) came and found him out. Covid merely accelerated the path, and the points deduction is no more than we could expect for our actions - even if it hurts us all in it's implementation it is hard to deny that.

RAM1966 reacted to Big Trav in Pathetic from the players
I don’t care about the performance, we all know it was an awful game and performance from us. But most of our players walked down the tunnel heads down and didn’t clap the fans. This has really pissed me off. The only players to do it were curtis and ebosele. Some clapped as they walked down the tunnel. Some like sibley jags Buchanan etc walked down the tunnel and didn’t even acknowledge us. We’ve paid to see these bums play football and put a poo performance in. I only got in Barnsley at 7:35 and sprinted from town to the stadium to get in time. The least these players can do is clap us because we were supportive of them. It’s completely annoyed me
