It seems obvious that Ashley checked out at Newcastle...partly because of his poor relationship with the fans & partly because he was looking to sell for a number of years. That would appear to explain the lack of investment in the facilities & the 'functional' transfer budgets.

I don't think he'd want to buy Derby to have that kind of experience again & settling for midtable in the Championship (whilst better than where we are now) would ultimately cause unrest when we do get back up. My hunch is that he will fund where he needs to but will learn from the mistakes of Morris in looking at a long term strategy to get success (insist on Academy prospects getting game time, no big signings, no older players unless exceptional cost v benefit rationale). I'd be perfectly comfortable with all that.

Being a shrewd businessman, he will always have an eye on the exit & to get a decent return on investment. For a reputed investment of circa 40-50m (stadium plus creditor settlement), he would be looking at a sale close to 100m as a minimum. He wont get that for selling a midtable Championship side.

That was Morris's asking price....  He couldn't sell.though, maybe because of impending points deductions...  Its a mess now though for sure.

Still got a feeling that Ashley will be our new owner come the end of next week...

Look buddy he wants us I know in my bones he will get us.

B4 I love ypur optimisum, I'm  threaders with the whole thing.  I just want it done, TBH I'd take anyone who can complete the deal.

Kirchner - No doubt has the passion and enthusiasm, of he can get Rooney to stay 3 years who knows we might have a crack at getting to the PL if he gets a good wind.

Appleby - A really safe pair of hands, hopefully a decent managerial appointment may just see us knocking at the PL door much quicker this time.

Ashley- Will probably take -15pts and write next season off, then pump lots of cash in to fast track us to the PL.

All in all I would probably see Ashley as the one most likely to deliver PL footie quickest....  I also feel he will be the winner, as I can not see Kirchner parting with £22M for the stadium.....

    Somebody just buy us!!!!!

Apart from the £100 million fluidity proofed to Quantuma and the EFL you mean? FWIW, Brentford owner Matthew Benham set out with a fraction of that figure, but it clearly did not preclude success. A well run club does not need the likes of Ashley and his billions to prosper.

Proving funds and being prepared to spend them is another matter....

I'd suggest that CK has no intensions of throwing 10s millions at this annually like Mel did, a measured way with steady progress is whats needed.

The MM sh*te or bust method clearly was reckless.  I think a fair few of us new it.  When he bought Johnson and Butterfield in the final hour of the transfer window for £10m, both on big wages.  The FFP alarm bells started ringing, I never thought he would stop servicing the debt he ran up though.

If Kirchner gets the deal over the line, they'll be dancing in the streets.

A lot of people will, just can't see it myself unless some funding is gifted to CK to purchase the stadium...

MM has said he will lease or sell. So presumably the rental he has asked for is too much for CK’s business plan

And CK doesn’t want to buy it, certainly not at the price MM requires to pay off MSD.

that’s the problem. The solution seems to be that the league of gentlemen buy it and rent it to CK at a rental that works. I guess they are doing it partly to save the club, but there’s a good chance they could make money. And MM will probably agree a discount with them

    Nothing to do with EFL

Not out of the question that CK will buy it ...

Mels said from word go he would lease the ground back.  A huge no from me, we would be paying off the loans against it that would give Mel more equity, which morally wrong.

I think CK has come to the conclusion he needs to own the ground to make it a viable....

Anyone else keep logging on to see if there is an update on the daily update thread - saying - the deal is done.

Or perhaps it's time to sign up to Chris Kirchner's Twitter!

He's gone quiet to busy playing golf and leaving it to his team, I suspect its going to fall though unless there is some deal to part purchase PPS, where he does not have to pay the money back, possibly a rates free period to make the transaction attractive enough for CK....

Sounds like it’s miles off. If it’s down to the council it will be next year sometime before anything is finalised.

It could be miles of but a legally binding agreement to purchase could seal the deal, these can be put in place quickly, the clauses might be unacceptable to Mel though such as conditional offer subject to survey, where remedial works are to be subtracted from the total.

Its not the cost of the ground persay that's holding this up its the combined cost of paying off DCFC debts that Mel ran up as well as the stadium totalling about £55-60M, then factor in building a new team. although I suspect there will be lots of free transfers available, that would jump at the chance of working with Rooney.....

The stadium has never been a big hurdle .. it has only become an issue now because of the need to get a quick sale. The council may not be able to do due diligence in time. The biggest hurdle all along has been the EFL. And Parry is very keen of course to suggest otherwise. What a contemptible man.

So why has the stadium never been a big hurdle then Mel?

The only way purchading the club as a viable option is to include the Stadium as a good will guesture for £1.  The club is worth £30-35m in league 1.  The debts are that, therefore the man that made the mess if he's truly a fan, would dig deep.

After all you, er sorry Mel, bought a team that narrowly missed out on a Play Off places and destroyed a club, which no longers owns the ground and has 5 contracted players.

So yes the ground is an issue, always has been......

As I said months ago, Mel is still pulling the strings and can cave any deal he does not like.  Hate the man with a passion...

  8. 5 minutes ago, PistoldPete said:

Yeah right. Who brought the charge against Derby then 4 years after signing off on the accounts and two years after signing off on the stadium sale? Who pursued the matter despite much of the allegations being thrown out and tried to get us relegated when at most the only sanction should have been a modest fine? Who indulged the Boro claim which could have bankrupted the club? Who has been briefing against us with multiple misleading statements and leaks to the press over the last two and a half years? Two and a half years during which one man has presided over the EFL the spiteful Parry. And two and half years of a continuing vendetta that has made it almost impossible to sell the club.

Are you Mel Morris?  Can't believe your still defending him.....

  9. Why do people think this is the only bid, Appleby definately sumitted a bid.  Its reported that Ashley became frustrated at the lack of response from Q, so he has most likely submitted on too.

I appreciate CK bis may appear to be the best in town for the other creditors, I do feel from his comments though he and Morris are going to come to an agreement on the ground.

For the reason above and time running out they should have said to CK, you've known about the stadium since the start of this process, its £22m and if you wanted it, you should of struck a deal with Morris before entering into the the exclusivity period.  Both he and Q havr failed in thier due diligence, think Mel would just roll over, we know thats not going to happen.

I said as soon as Kirchner mention PPS was a red flag that this deal will not happen.  I stand by that u ness, either the council or local businessmen buy it and lease it back for a peppcorn rent.  Even then I do not feel CK is getting value for money, he was expecting to hoover up the stadium for a £1 as the golden share and 5 players is not worth £35m for a lg1 club.

I think it will be liquidation now, with Ashley purchasing the ground and starting again wherever as a Pheonix club.....

I sincerely hope Im wrong, but can't see CK paying out circa £57m for the club if he wants ownership of the ground.

You won't get more than one party working towards the finalisation of a purchase, not least because the other parties with an interest in the transaction won't negotiate with more than one party. "Having all of the offers on the table" and treating it as a race to the finish just isn't feasible.

Wasnt that what Q tried to do with their bid deadline?  Its been a ducking shambles from start to finish.  No surprise as the clown who appointed Q is responsible for this crock of sh*te....

Q have given CK more time because he offers the best deal for the creditors - that’s what they’re employed to ensure…..

They should at this stage be considering all offers.  Take the best one that goes through.

The price for the stadium has not changed, yet CK said he was not interested in it, then moved the goalposts with a couple of days left.....

Poorly managed by Q and CK, thetefore all offers at this stage should be on the table.....

    Says the attention seeking clown.

It could very easily be argued that Kirchner is looking to pay 'over the value' with figures between 25 and 45 million considering the ridiculous state Mel's left it in. There's no requirement for him to pay out enough to avoid the -15 points next season, that's his choice - he could get it far cheaper than that, like Ashley is trying to do.

Most football chairman get into the game knowing that it's potentially going to be a money trap, plenty of them lose money hand over fist and have to bail the club out via loans, guarantees, write-offs and other tricks especially in the Championship where clubs are recording massive losses.

The only person taking rubbish is the one throwing out clichés that don't fit and thinking it wins them an argument.

So why has nobody bought Mels over priced train set?  Been up for sale for a couple of years.....  Because nobody is going to fork our for a vastly overpriced club....  Not me thats the clown!

I agree owners go into football knowing they are likely yo have to bank roll thier clubs.  It doesnt mean they are prepared to pay rediculous money to start with.

Kirchner is not going to complete this deal, unless he's gifted tge ground, or a local consortium purchase it and allow hi. to use it for a peppercorn rent....  Im surpised Q have been stupid enough to give CK till Sat with extended exclusivity, they should be looking at all offers.

Well done on ignoring everything that's been said on the matter but restating the silly old cliche once more.

Ashley isn't at the stage of 'getting rich' , he's well beyond that. It simply doesn't apply. Once you reach a certain amount of wealth it becomes almost inconsequential.

You could say that every single person who has ever bought or invested in a football club is a terrible businessman if you just blanketedly apply the cliche. On that basis why not chuck in an extra fee million to secure the deal as quicky as possible? Bit late to start being a good businessman.

Nobody is going to say "Multi-Billionaire Mike Ashley paid £40m for Derby when he could have got them for £35m? Oh my, why's he chucking money about like it's going out of fashion. He must be a terrible businessman."

    ?

Well if your theory us right, about rich businessmen being prepared to pay well over the value, why has somone not bought Mels over priced trainset then?

Guess its because your talking rubbish.....

  14. 46 minutes ago, Coconut's Beard said:

Ahhh the old cliche "You don't get rich by throwing money away" style answer. It doesn't wash though.

Once you are already really rather bloody rich you have room for a fair bit more extravagance in your purchases.

That's not being bad at business / bad with money it's allowing yourself to reap the rewards of the money you've earned by having excess room to manoeuvre.

You don't expect someone who lives in a mansion to do all their food shopping at the nearest Lidl because the food is better value, or to be going round driving a 3rd hand 2012 Vauxhall Astra because it's cheaper to buy and run than a sports car.

We all pay a little extra than we need to for some things that aren't really worth the cost in a practical sense, it's part of enjoying life, it's 'worth it' to us, can't take it with you and all that

Penny pinching to get rich is not the same as penny pinching when already rich. Ashley could buy us with a click of his fingers and never have to think about that extra 5-10 million ever again.

Rich people do not get rich by paying well over tge market value for anything, let alone a football club...

Another thing I dont quite understand is why CK would not be prepared to take out a "mortgage" to buy the stadium? He would then own it or the Club would and pay out so much a year........All the new stadia and stands built over the last 30 years have been financed this way.....in fairness to Morris, when he bought the Club the ground was mortgaged, so why not now???

    Anyone?

He's then paying more than the club is worth.  Hes already podding out about £35m, that price should really include the ground, the club simply isn't viable, its insolvent and had it been a normal business it would have been liquidated back in Sep.  Taking out a mortgage on the ground still means CK has paid well over the market value.

My bet is CK this morning offered Mel £1 for the ground stating with the other debts, thats a fair offer to clean up Morris's mess.

Sadly Morris is deluded and Im afraid our new owner, if we are lucky will be Ashley post liquidation and we will start as a Pheonix club and lose all our honours..... ?

I’m sick of saying this! If we go bust we are chucked out of the EFL, no way staying in League2

The EFL did allude to allowing us entry in Lg2.....  Unless of course you know better than Parry, who mentioned this as an olive branch if we could not get someone to sort out Mels mess....

I'm glad to see you knowing nothing doesn't stop you posting a load of nonsense, in hope that you can be the one who called our demise.

Ill be gutted, but, Im a realist.

We will survive in some form or other, I have zero confidence in this deal going through as Morris is not going to do the decent thing.

I just hope Q have secured another months funding from MSD.....

  18. 3 minutes ago, rammieib said:

I’m surprised anyone thinks it will be Ashley. It’s clear the issue is Morris, but there must be some talks going on somehow here behind the scenes to get through that - because if there was nothing we’d be getting a different story from Kirchner.

If the stadium collapses any CK deal, it would do for other buyers as well.

Depends if a certain person is pkayong games.  The true best business deal.is to disolve the club, pick the ground up for £20m start at the bottom of Lg2 as a Pheonix club.....  Debt free with a massive budget and back in the Championship in 2 years.

Unfortunately that means we lose out titles and all honours.....

    Everything is on the table.....
