They DIDN'T outplay us in the 1st. In the second games, yes, undoubtedly.

Surely it's a positive if you think we are in such a mess and still potentially in the play off places if we win our game in hand?
As for whether Clowes has the funds, Plymouth Argyle owner has a net worth of around £70m, David Clowes estimated at £250m

What do captains in football even do apart from coin tosses and being allowed to talk to the ref a bit more? If a players a leader they're going to lead whether they have the armband or not. Bradley, Collins, Forsyth, Bird, Nelson, Smith and Hourihane have all been captains at either this club or another.

Perhaps we are, perhaps we aren't. I take it a match at a time. If we win our next league game, that will be 3 in a row. Something to hopefully build on. All clubs have their ups and their downs. We're currently at the bottom of our downswing (hopefully).

The captain debate is a boring one, an armband doesn't make you shout, scream, organise or anything any differently than you would anyway. If you're a leader, if you're vocal, then that's what you do regardless. Now it's certainly possible that we don't really have that type of player in the squad, other than maybe Bradley who can't really play football anymore.
There is a debate that the main problem in the team right now is not even James Collins anymore, it's the insistence on playing Korey Smith and Conor Hourihane together. Neither of them have the legs anymore, they don't cover enough ground, they don't close down with any intent, when they're bypassed they can't get back, they don't move off the ball to make angles for passes... At the moment, Hourihane is in the team as he's slightly more creative, particularly from dead balls, but I have zero idea why Smith is as well when Fornah is sat on the bench. It makes literally no sense. Until we stop this, we will have these inconsistent dud performances where teams with more athleticism and stamina outwork us.

I'm looking forward to the summer when most of the mercenaries will be out of contract. A lot of this is down to how we went about recruitment in the immediate aftermath of the takeover. Granted, a lot of it was through sheer necessity to actually get a squad of players, ANY squad of players, but it's obviously less than ideal.
The only fly in the ointment is the thought of giving Warne another window and a big rebuild. The players HE'S brought in are hardly setting things alight.
I'm also not thrilled with the transition from the youth teams/academy into the first team. Last night was the perfect example, the chance to play two or three of them. At the very least the chance to bring some of them on in the second half, especially when we should have been trying to desperately chase the game. Instead we brought on Bradley. Comes to something when the best chance these younger players are going to get is to go out on loan rather than being able to force their way into the first team.
I fully expect to lose Bird and Cashin during the January transfer window. F*** knows who we'll get in to replace them, but I'd wager it'll be older players on last paydays again.

I don't really know where Crewe are at in their project, how long their team has been together, how many of their players have come through their youth system etc
Of course on paper I'm sure we have a better team.
These results happen in cup games I'm afraid, always have, always will. Its just a shame its happened to us now when (a) we could probably do with the funds from a cup run and; (b) the pile on brigade were waiting with their knives sharpened, still seething from us beating Barnsley at the weekend

We’ve just won our last 3 home games conceding 0 goals and scoring 9 including battering a promotion rival. Win our game in hand we’re in the top 6 and we’re closer to top 2 than we were a few weeks ago. We lost 3 of the first 6 and then lost 2 of our last 10. League is wide open this season.
The writing was on the wall after three away performances but the cup game should be discounted IMO. Poor performances in cups happen and have happened even when we’ve had a good team.
Lose or don’t win the next 2 (Bristol and Vale) then writing is on the wall again. That’s when we can fundamentally say this team is inconsistent

Didn’t take long for some to conveniently forget that Saturday happened. Barnsley cannot be ignored, our best performance under Warne  and off the back of two positive performances at home. Since Stevenage there has been a marked improvement.
Last night was awful. I took a Crewe fan to the game (who probably wishes he was in the away end and not around grumbling miserable Derby fans). Players were nowhere near at the same intensity, everything was slow. It happens sometimes in the cup, in the grand scheme I’d rather that last night against Crewe in the cup than against Bristol. We should draw a line under it and move on.
That being said while majority of blame for last night lies with the players, Warne needs to utilise his squad better. Playing the same team practically from Saturday with some old players in there, it was always a challenge. Although maybe the likes of Robinson would be in there if not called up.
As for Louis Sibley - he can’t be defended any more. He has chance after chance and never grabs it. There is a reason no manager has played him regularly since Cocu. He has skill and finishing ability but completely lacks any football intelligence, he’s not going to be the player we thought (I certainly hoped) he would be and he needs to move for the sake of his career.

To me, that looks like a team that were feeling all billy big b******* after beating Barnsley comfortably
Crewe at home on a Tuesday probably looked like a doddle to them and I do wonder if some of the current squad think they’re above our current fixture list. The amount of no shows against teams we should be beating can’t all be down to Warne. We have a lot of players who’ve played at the level above, are they hungry enough?
Think Warne is to blame for not rotating, we’re not winning the cup but you need to give youngsters opportunities to play. Now it’s just the ‘no pot to piss in cup’ left for the youngsters to get game time in because Warne admittedly seems married to his senior pros, which may be part of the larger problem
How he’s not given Weston and at least one of the other youngsters a start is beyond me

However, I think there is a massive focus on Warne which is letting the players get away with murder. As a group they need to come together and stop this happening so regularly, we really need a run of results here.
Five more games before Christmas, all against teams lower than us in the table. Can this manager and team get themselves up for these? You’d like to see us get 10 points from those as a minimum, it’s the time of year you start studying the table and the aim should be to get within touching distance of that top three of Bolton, Oxford and Pompey. Getting clear of Barnsley, Stevenage and Pboro goes without saying, we need to be buried in that top six ASAP
Dreading the January instability, Cashin and Bird leaving could be disastrous if we’re not careful

At least I can say I care, I was there, and after the Barnsley game, I felt confident going to the game tonight, oh how wrong was I, but on the 25th I will be back getting behind the team, and driving them onto victory, and hope the good Derby turn up, like we did against Northampton and Barnsley. It's in our DNA youth.

I have some very sad news this evening.  Daniel (B4) died earlier this week. He was just 38.
As you know, he has been battling numerous health conditions for a long time, but always remained cheerful  and was the most loyal supporter of his beloved Rams, home and away.
He was at the match at Crewe and gave his full support as always.
Daniel leaves behind a grieving dad, mum and sister. Our thoughts go out to them and we only hope they get a little comfort from knowing how well loved Daniel is by all who know him.
Here are a couple of photos that his dad agreed could be shared. I'm sure many of you have others, as Daniel loved a selfie at the game.
David is hoping to arrange a more fitting tribute in time, but for now please raise a glass in his memory and a good Derby win today. I am sure that's what Daniel would have been doing tonight.

Any evidence to back up what appears to be yet more speculation and supposition?
    McGoldrick said the following when he joined Notts;
He said: "It has been a difficult decision for me to leave Derby County, but it has been a huge ambition of mine to play for Notts County again before the end of my career.
"I’ve been honest and open with both Paul Warne and the club about it in recent weeks and they’ve been supportive and understanding.
“If it wasn’t for the fact that I had the chance to return to Notts, it would have been a no-brainer to stay at Derby - regardless of interest from any other club.
"I really enjoyed working under the gaffer and his staff, playing alongside the lads and, of course, performing in front of the brilliant fans at Pride Park. I want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome in the last year.

"I had a wonderful season with Derby and to score 25 goals and three hat-tricks made it such an enjoyable time, the best in terms of goals for me personally in a season, and actually made the decision such a difficult one.
"I’ve had many conversations with the gaffer over the last few weeks and he really did do everything he could to keep me at Derby but, in the end, I have decided to go with my heart and return to Notts."

Warne clearly has some limitations as a manager, plenty of things that can be articulated and supported with evidence as many posters on here do (some of the regular observations include lack of game time for youth players, one dimensional tactics, a lack of in-game management, using players in unfamiliar positions on the pitch). The unsubstantiated claims about his man-management being a failing in the face of evidence to the contrary isn’t the bold statement you and others seem to think it is.
