Consider not paying the fee every year because I think I don't use it (as an under 35) then remind myself there's at least 4 hours every week dedicated to this stupid third division club plus TMS, World Cup/Euros, MoTD, FA Cup...
For 43p a day I think it's good value and I can tolerate Lineker being "woke" and "socialist" on Twitter or something whilst earning 10% of what Ant or Dec do. Especially when I remember they employed rabid right wingers like David Dimbleby, him what did Mastermind, and Andrew Neil for about 150 years combined, and I didn't mind them.

A lot of that makes sense, but I see the BBC as a service, not a business. I think they should focus of educating, informing and challeging more vs the more business sense offerings like Come Dancing. They also need to drop extremists and shadowy think tanks from debates, in a flawed attempt to show both sides of an argument.
If you don't really consume much bbc content and bemoan the 12 quid a month cost, then think of it as a donation that allows loads of older folks to enjoy local radio about where they live. Or think of the worldwide prestige that the BBC gives us, with the increase of soft power it brings too.

Makes me laugh when people slag-off the BBC.
Try working away overseas for a fortnight and put-up with the dirge that is non British TV in your hotel.

Well it all seems very jolly to slag the BBC and the TV Licence until it affects something you like.

Funny how these cuts come 3 weeks after local radio is hailed as the best thing this country produces - as our Prime Minister was taken apart by a succession of BBC local radio presenters.
    Conspiracy theory, or NOT!

I'm not suggesting that all of physics or indeed quantum mechanics is fully understood far from it.  Just that, at the scale of our bodies, we know very well how the atoms work and interact.  And what we know and have observed doesn't leave much room for ethereal shenanigans after we die.
You think in this era of everyone having recording equipment in their pocket we would finally have solid verifiable evidence of ghosts existence.  But they seem strangely introverted all of a sudden.  They seemed to prefer the past when there was less electrical lighting and no smartphones.  Maybe because our imaginations and pattern seeking brains were more active in the shadows back then?
Like I said...if we are think ghosts are a serious possibility, then surely unicorns, vampires, and leprechauns are also genuinely possible.  There existence can also be supported using the same 'we don't understand all of the universe so anything is possible' logic.

Not sure I've much faith in the human race solving this crisis, if this sample is anything to go by.  Don't mean to focus on you two, it's just your opinions are by no means uncommon even though they are in stark opposition to a firm scientific consensus.
I think it might take a few more extreme weather events and a climate induced migrant influx before the penny finally starts to drop.

Unfortunately the situation is looking more and more bleak. The urgent action required to alleviate the worst effects of climate change just aren't being implemented by governments.  Despite their promises and commitments.
If any one doubts @uttoxram75's  point about the role which the fossil fuel industry has played in spreading doubt and misinformation about human induced climate change, then Big Oil vs The World would be a good series to watch.  It's available on YouTube.  40 years ago Exxon knew that fossil fuel burning was going to cause global warming, they funded the most extensive research into the issue, but instead of telling the public the truth of what they discovered and trying to adapt in the 1980s...they decided on a policy of denial and spreading misinformation as much as they could.  They were obviously extremely successful and managed to convince a lot of people that there was nothing to worry about or at worst that the problem was being exaggerated.  Profit was their only concern it seems.
The result is we've lost 40 years of trying to deal with this effectively and we are now in a very precarious position.

That is true, but the important caveat is that it will happen at a natural, much slower rate if we stop burning fossil fuels
You often see this graph posted online to illustrate your point. Going back 400,000 years, yes we can see that there have been peaks and troughs in the natural cycle of C02 in the atmosphere

But then you notice that this graph stops in 1950. Which is pretty much the point at which mass industrialisation of the planet started
So how does it look now? Pretty much a vertical line

I don't think any amount facts can counter this, only denial

TalkTV (OK, I get it, hardly the levelest of playing fields) just asked Twitter what Rishi's first area of focus should be as PM. This is what they said - the fictional immigrant crisis still getting twenty times the votes against the environment.

In other news, this village in Wales is being decommissioned as the battle to save it against rising sea levels has been conceded as impossible to maintain. I am minded to believe that, even here, there was at least one person who still thought immigration was a bigger problem.
Just how else are people going to get the attention needed to do something about this? Really, if throwing soup at pictures is not the answer they how - just how - can they get their point across? Greta tries it and she's a whining child, Charlie v3 does it and he's an old nincompoop.

Not sure the type of thing I'm on about would be on Panorama.
A show about how the mind works, explaining why people think they've seen ghosts for instance that goes beyond "because they're too daft to realise the mind can play tricks on them" would be more interesting to me than watching shysters like Derek Acorah using people who don't know any better as dancing bears for Kasharamadingdong to laugh at.
You obviously disagree. No problem, we all like different things.

Some cynical folk could be forgiven for believing the powers that be have allowed those student protests to go on while having the ability to control hundreds and thousands at genuine protests, so the draconian, soviet type controls of the Public Order Act can go through without public outrage.
