As I understand it there were four interviewed and Warne wasn't the first choice. I believe that we could afford the first choice but we couldn't afford the compensation for their proposed staff so it fell through.

They aren't the greatest but it's the way Warne sets them up that brings out the average in them rather than the best.

It's a Championship standard defence, not that it's of Warne's choosing 😄 It's the rest that's poorly assembled.

I've been wavering for weeks, but now I'm fully Warne out. The longer he stays at the club, the more he will damage it.
This is a results business and the bottom line is that results, for this level, too poor. One win in the first six home games in League One. If he were delivering results, then everything else would have to be forgiven. He's not, so he deserves to go.
The recruitment has been very poor - I do not believe Warne is of the calibre we need to attract better players. In addition the development and use of players is all wrong. Clowes is boldly continuing to invest in the Academy. Warne couldn't care less. The football from the Academy is (thankfully) different from the first team, but there is no route to develop players from the current academy crop to the first team.
The first team philosophy is one of creating chaos and hoping we benefit more from it than our opponents. At this level, with our financial power, we should be controlling and dominating games. Warne picks the wrong players and sets us up incredibly defensively. And plays unimaginatively. It's all just get it wide quickly and in the box quickly - no threat through the middle, and no midfield control. And he lacks the tactical nous to react and change games as he should.
He seems a nice guy. It's disappointing, but he's clearly not good enough to be the manager of our club. Surely Clowes sees it? How long until he pulls the trigger? Surely not much longer.

I’ll let the more optimistic of you enjoy this one rather than sharing what I really think.
I don’t have the energy for arguing all night again this Saturday.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 30+ years and never wanted to miss a match.

I’ve decided today that until Warne has gone I won’t be attending any more games. I left on 72 minutes today, something I’ve never done before.

It was awful, no direction and wasting my Saturday afternoon.

The football he plays and the way he treats the academy (something that is close to me and my family) I can’t give him any more support.

Call it mardy, but in all these years I’ve never felt like this about a manager.

I’ve supported Warne despite evidence to the contrary. He says a lot of good stuff, he seems like a good bloke. But that second half tactical and substitution decision-making was beyond Sunday league. I’m done. He can go.

2 points dropped this. After a promising first half display, I had hoped for us to build on that in the second half. We flattered to deceive. It all just fizzled out, into a tepid uninspired second half performance. Subs were late and wrong. Failed to change the flow of the game. Really disappointed with that, I enjoyed the first half and thought that more of the same in the second half would have won the game. Can’t fault the players today, management team cost us with poor tactical reactions to how the game was going.

It's no surprise from this selection. Yet again, at home in League One, Warne has picked 7 defensive players and 4 attacking players. None of those 4 attackers are very creative or good finishers. We need to have a better balance of attack vs defence on the pitch. Even Warne says Sibley is the best finisher at the club, but then drops him. When Sibbs does play he's almost always out of position on the left wing. And he's also the best set piece taker at the club.
My point is we don't have to bring attacking players in in January. We have to set up better, and play the better goalscorers that we have. In their best positions! Brown also deserves his chance from his U21 performances (and goals!!).

First half wasn’t Warne’s fault, but I can’t explain waiting til the 70th minute watching the exact same performance as the first half before making a change.
Then he makes the change, and he puts Sibley wide when the entire problem has been the lack of any option or creativity through the middle making Cambridge’s life so easy.
    Baffling.

The vast majority of the criticism I have seen has been constructive. I'm very critical of the decision made to bring Warne in, how Warne has managed the squad and the way we approach games. I've been constructive in my critiques saying why i think we're on the wrong path and what i think we need to see corrected. No-one is wallowing in negativity and nor are we demanding Barcelona football. But we've played poorly too regularly for too long and it is starting to grate on people.
It's not that we should be wiping the floor with little old Carlisle it's that the performance is a reflection of the terrible performances we've consistently seen. Eric Steele, an experienced man in football, was absolutely scathing about our performance and demanded better. I think he's a realistic man and is hardly one who wallows in negativity either.
Possession football is totally doable in this division. Plymouth played a possession based game and wiped the floor with the division. So did Brentford before them, Bournemouth before them and Swansea before them. This is off the top of my head. We looked far better and more comfortable under Rosenior playing a possession based game than we have done under Warne playing basketball.

Back in the late 1980's/early 1990's, I used to work at the Stock Exchange, and we used to have a 'team breakfast' there once every couple of months. The pub had a 'special' licence which allowed them to open at 7:00 am.
A huge plate of sausages, bacon, black pudding etc, washed down with a couple of pints of Fullers ESB - the perfect way to start the working week.

I’ve seen a few comments about this subject.  Let’s be fair to Warne and not use it as a stick to beat him, he’s not the only one who does this.  Most teams drag everyone back nowadays for corners.
I’m not a fan of it and I’m old school.  Man mark (space has never scored a goal), man on each post and at least one man in the half-way line area.  The opposition always have one man back, plus the keeper.  If you put a man near the half-way line they’ll keep another one back so that’s 3.  Plus the corner taker means there’s only 7 in box.  This is verses 10 (inc keeper) of the defending team in and around the defensive penalty area.  Surely 10 can beat 7.  I also think it makes it easier for the keeper to claim the ball in a less crowded box and gives him a quick outlet.

I'm told that Warne wasn't the number one choice from the interview process but that the costs of employing the number one choice and his proposed staff feell outside of our budget. I don't know how true that is but it came from a reliable source.
