I think "Mr Jones" is still on iPlayer. I'd advise anyone who hasn't seen it yet to catch it while they can.

I think it's fairly clear at this point that he just isn't the right person to lead us to where we need to be. Ipswich spent a bit longer in League One, but they built up with a good young manager and a good style of football and have adapted well to the league above. I have no data to back this up, but generally the pragmatic sides that get up don't seem to adapt as well.

League 2 Crewe Alexandra had 57% of the ball at Pride Park up until they scored their 3rd goal of the evening. Then they just had to sit back and defend it.
    Embarassing.

Here’s the summary of the problem. Clowes hires Warne with experience of getting out of L1. Warne only knows one game. We all know how Rotherham played, little skill but lots of hard runners, aggression, height at both ends lending itself to the numbers game of lots of crosses into the box. Fast forward to Derby where Warne inherits someone’s squad put together at speed, full of journeyman who are the least equipped bunch to play the Rotherham way. But Warne still hasn’t spotted that, and has no idea how to set up this team up to get the best out of it. Clowes would not have spotted this cos he isn’t a football man. He just hoped that history would repeat itself, but totally failed to spot the dilemma just described. Warne doesn’t have enough transfer windows open to build a team that can play the Rotherham and doesn’t appear to have the smarts to play another way.

I remember the good old days when we thought Phil Brown and Nigel Pearson were w*nk. Warne makes them look like Alf Ramsey and Bill Shankly.

He'd built a tiny bit of credit from Barnsley, and he's pissed it all up the wall. 3 hours of the same pattern of football, no clue how to get through them and no idea how to change it.

Notts County - 90 mins played (mostly on the wings), 2 goals
Shrewsbury - 90 mins played (RW)
    Exeter - 71 mins (AM)
    Stevenage - 45 mins (AM), 1 assist
    Northampton - not used
    Crewe - 11 mins (AM), 1 assist
    Barnsley - 5 mins (CF)
    Crewe - 59 mins (RW), 1 assist

That's 2 goals and 3 assists in just 371 minutes over the past 5 weeks.

Because he was allowed a run of games without being dropped. He's held to higher standards than anyone else in the squad. How many games in a row was NML anonymous for early on? What do Hourihane or Bird need to do to get dropped? Hourihane could literally oversleep, skip the entire match, and he'd still be captain next week.

Warne is used to being the underdog, and has the mentality that you're more likely to win if you work harder than the other team to make up for the difference in talent.
And he's had success with that in the past, and he's taking time to adapt to the management of more talented players.

It's about getting to your seat early for the Remembrance game so you don't need to get others moving to let you get to your seat during the silence and its preamble.
    It's a thing called respect.

I still, and probably always will, struggle with Warne. I am of course pleased we have had two good league wins in a row, and that we are now on the edge of the playoffs, but it has been a disjointed affair season to date. Hopefully we will continue to gain ground on Pompey and Oxford as we reach the turn of the year, playing football which involves our midfield rather than hitting it hopefully down the channels. Neither of those teams have better squads than ours imho and I am frustrated that we are some distance behind them. Anything less than automatic promotion will be a failure this season (given the strength of the league) and I am concerned whether we might be able to hold onto Cashin and Bird in January. Victories against the Gas and Vale would be wonderful. COYR!!

Never served, always donate to the Appeal via the Neppy. I remember on my first visit to the Netherlands aged 21 or 22. Visited the War Cemetery in Arnhem. Seeing the ages of the fallen brought tears to my eyes. They were almost all younger than I was and had made the ultimate sacrifice. I, for one, will never forget them nor the sacrifice they made.
I would dearly love to see everybody in their seats a good while prior to kick off today and to appreciate the ceremonial happenings. That last pre match beer/cola/pie/burger.... that can be taken a little earlier than usual. IMO, not being in your place by 10 to 3 today would be showing total disrespect to the fallen.

If he gets the English equivalent of the white hankie he’s had it, regardless of how someone ‘high up’ at the club briefed Dominic Dietrich. That’s all we have, no public comment from Clowes himself don’t forget. Oh sorry of course Warne himself has told us he has been told to ‘rock on’
We will see. I think his days are numbered

I remember my Dad asking one of the 71-72 team what he thought of Clough. The answer was that most of the time he hated him. That's a conversation from 1989 so I might not have the exact words but that was the gist of it.

First thing I heard him say about Bird was that, when he met him, he was surprised how big he was. Sure, Bird might have thought nothing of it at all. Or he might have thought ‘Jesus he’s telling the world he’s looked at the tapes and thinks I play like a wimp’. Careless personal comment. The McGoldrick comment was the most concerning, because if I recall correctly there was just a suggestion Didzy was faking injury. Did Didzy just shrug it off? Maybe. Did he even hear it, who knows? But: careless, careless, careless.  The description of his conversation with Bird about a possible transfer made me cringe, because Warne managed to give the impression that Bird’s loyalty to the club was paper thin, that he didn’t care whether he stayed or left. ‘Belittle’ is too narrow - I just mean anything that could lead a player to take the hump.
As I said about 6 posts ago, I think he’s come to understand he needs a clutch between his ego and his brain
Whether fans always hear these comments is not the point. The point is: players in common with most human beings listen very carefully to what their bosses say about them, especially if it’s said in public, and they are often proud, paranoid, prickly and prone to petulance. The best managers know how to use the microphone to motivate their men

It was entertaining watching the youngsters playing last night, it’s a pity that the academy games cannot be played prior to the first team games on a Saturday. I am sure it would attract supporters into the ground early and would create a wider interest in those up and coming players, the additional game might also sell a few more pies and pints.

I have a lot of sympathy for this point of view. I find it very difficult to listen to Warne without throwing the radio at a wall. I'd certainly find it very difficult to work for him for any length of time.
I did have the opportunity to watch the team for a couple of hours prior to an away game last year and they didn't seem particulary happy or cohesive. You could argue that they were just calm/focussed etc. but I don't think it was that.
