  1. If I was Paul Warne I'd be looking at January and thinking we should by no means be dropping any points against these sides

If we hoover up these points against some fairly poor teams it will give us a real push for automatics and hopefully and boost in January unlike last year with the additional signings to bolster our chances, whoever comes in will be crucial and they must be better than the players currently in the squad as minimum criteria

January could be the pivotal part of the season for The Rams 🐏

    Let's believe!

Yes, by showcasing nuance within the comments. The discourse about youth progression I thought was fair game- I may disagree, but I can understand those that want more youth progression and why they don't believe this is a priority under Warne.

On the balance of things recently, there isn't much to criticise Warne for. We've been the best team in the league for the last couple of months. The positives he's overseen more than mitigate any negatives. When we lose though, it feels like this balanced perspective goes out the window for some and go straight back to the doom and gloom.

Sonny Bradley passively aggressively liking tweets openly criticising him last week made me sad. Why are some fans hellbent on publicly trashing our own staff? Completely counter-intuitive.

If that's true about Sonny Bradley, I'd have him dropped from the squad and training with the youth team

He's been a massive disappointment for saying he wanted to come in as captain and his bad performances were one of the main reasons Warne went to a back 4. I'm glad cashin may be having his contract extended he is a future derby captain and will look brighter if we can get promoted with him

Most of the teams in this league are s**** and I think we look just as bad as the rest a lot of the time

But we’re starting to have games now where we’re able to put it together for 15/20 mins at a time which seems to be enough to win games

Despite the amount of people on here who spiralled into crisis mode at 1-1, just look at the table tonight

    - Joint second most goals scored in the league

    - Second tightest defence in the league

    - One point off the automatics and into third (for the time being)

We’ve got a lot of room to improve but, if we do improve, we can actually get automatically promoted this season if we have an alright January

Why not us? The rest of them are crap as well

I guess that means we should probably deserve to be second place...

Portsmouth draw too many games and their luck with run out

WE ARE COMING FOR YOU POMPEY!

  4. If we don't lose any more players then probably 3/4 additions if we want to get automatic promotion

A physical striker - who can score headers and help dominate from corners more be a target man and help hold the ball up

A pacy striker - to be able to run the channels and cause problems on counter attacks and offer something different to our current strikers

Creative Midfielder - who can recycle the ball and help pick the lock when team are sitting back which we struggle to do currently

Tricky Winger - who can help rest NML and rotate with Wilson/Barks

If Bird and Cashin leave then we would need replacements for those players too so it could be quite a change seeing 5/6 of the starting 11 potentially changing; essentially half a team

  5. One thing I notice is that if we don't score within the first 15/20 minutes we lose steam and tend not to play very well, if our confidence and self esteem as players is that bad I suggest a psychology coach in the club

Also it's the total inconsistency game to game... the hope pre match that we are going to win convincingly and from the terrible last 15 years of trying to reach the premier league again we have been disappointed many times and its the longest as a club we've had to wait and it's impaitence is mounting on people imo.

Paul Warne isn't the most tactically renound manager ever but as a former player it's always the players who win the match, you dont have have to follow the managers orders to the letter, you do have free will and are allowed to make decisions and think on your feet which I'm sure Paul Warne would encourage

I'm in the camp of the players we have aren't as good as we think, a lot have had good careers and in our heads we  probably picture the "best version of them" as Paul likes to say

They definitely need to dig in more, we can't break down teams when they sit back and we play well against bigger teams as they tend to go for it more and are left exposed and because our defence is usually pretty solid we beat those bigger teams

Need to sign a few creative players in the window plus a pacy striker, a MUST

You also forgot about John-Jules' loan expiring and cashing in on Sibley

Ahhh yes sibley leaving too.... anyone else??😬

If we do get that money for those players, do we go for "established" like Rhodes or Clarke Harris types to try and charge ourselves out of the leagues probably through the playoffs to get us back to the Championahip or take a punt on foreign leagues/lower leagues/Youth players and try and build a squad from the ground up?

The scout from Oxford we had i thought it'd be more obscure type signings to make money on but I always think to myself if Derby want to be a big club we have to keep hold of them for longer before we sell them (if we do)

Like villa selling Grealish, only did it when it was 100 million... very savvy

You'd have hoped that, Bird, Cashin etc would want to play for Derby County a big club with great support even though we are in league 1 in the knowledge we should be back competing in the championship but I suppose those days of football are gone and footballers are like politicians and go wherever the career "advancement" is

What are people's thoughts on that?

And sorry, I might have missed this as have not spent time on here recently, but when did Cashin become the new hate figure?  Ridiculous.

Yeah a lot of peopoe on here saying we should drop him for Bradley.... Bradley who's had 1 good game and Cashin who's probably only had 1 bad game

Bit harsh on Cashin really, or is it people have already decided they'd rather the money for him in January, not that long ago there was a thread about how everyone was relieved that he finally stayed with Derby County

We are very reactionary it seems..

Conversely… why are we playing like this tonight? Warne has to have some part in the good as much as he does in the bad, surely even the most ardent of Warne doubters can admit that?

I know the season hasn’t been as good as we want but this match and brief other moments at other points this season shows what can be achieved, what Warne, his staff and the team need to do is deliver it consistently.

Just a good old fashioned kick up the arse I reckon, some kind of escape to victory scenes

How would pace have helped us in game like Stevenage for example who didn’t leave space behind? We’ve had pace with NML and Barkhuizen on the wings before and that hasn’t worked

Either go for someone like Chris Martin who can hold the ball up or win headers etc or someone quick cause we have neither of those players upfront. we have 3 strikers that are all sort of similar, same thing with our midfielders too much samey type players or at least they are being told to play that way

Everyone keeps saying we need a striker. Is this striker going to just create chances for themselves? I’m not sure what any striker is supposed to do if we continue to play this way. I agree with Phil Brown on Waghorn being an excellent striker at this level. He’s somehow managed 6 goals in 11 starts.

Our entire offensive play for the first 10 games of the season involved giving the ball to NML in RWB and hope he does something. In recent weeks we’ve resorted to simply long balling it and hoping our players can out fight the defender and it might fall to someone. What is a new striker meant to do?

We need pace definitely and a pacy striker will be able to make us play in a different way and chances will be created.

You can't be slow and be a professional footballer anymore. without pace counter attacking football is hard to execute. If we had like 3 or 4 players with the pace of NML we'd be a lot more dangerous
