Highlights should just shown the main chances in a game so if there's a glaring obvious opportunity missed i don't see why they wouldn't show it
and I'm not saying Paul is specifically choosing highlights but he definitely chooses different players to do the pre Rams TV interviews so he does care about what is put out and I think he definitely protects his players (weather that's a good or a bad thing) from outside criticism
-
Unless I missed it , I didn't see the Collins chance on Rams TV highlights, when he decided to shoot instead of square it to Barkhuizen... is this an example of how Paul Warne protects his players? cause it was more clear cut than a lot of highlights shown on there

If we are trying to play an alternative to putting endless crosses in then players who can pass the ball and can also run at players will be key
Just would love to see us play through the middle more! how many goals have been scored from crosses this season and how many crosses have we made, that would be a good stat

When he joined the club this is what Barkhuizen said;
On His Position…
I prefer to play as a forward, mainly off either side. I’m comfortable off the right or left. I have played as a number nine, but I don’t particularly enjoy it when you’re up front on your own and you have two six foot four brutes baring down the back of you! I can play wing back but it’s not my favourite position. I like to get forward, get shots off and be in and around the box to create things and that’s hopefully what I can do.
Taken from this interview;
https://www.dcfc.co.uk/amp/news/2022/07/barkhuizen-derby-is-a-massive-club
I don’t mind your suggestion of him playing as a striker but think it would have to be a temporary measure as part of a 2, which would then have further implications to the other “specialist” strikers on the books. I suppose if Warne were to consider using Barkhuizen as a more mobile forward, he could just as easily give the Washington/Waghorn pairing another go or use Brown from the academy.
Not sure I know what the answer is but hope Warne can figure it out tonight and beyond so we can start moving back up the league sooner rather than later.Yeah I just feel like we should give the players who are good with the ball at their feet a shot. like Wilson, Bird, Sibley etc I think he's an option as a second striker.... not permanently I agree
-
Paul Warne tries to protect his players, you can see that in the interviews. I think they are low on confidence especially with the ball at our feet. We played our best football when McGoldrick came deep and started a move
I would play just 1 holding Midfielder and try and get them to own the position...
Playing bird, Fornah and Smith/ Hourihane is too much of the same type of player and in practice the midfield gets owned
I would play a diamond for a bit of pass and move
Wildsmith
Nyambe Nelson Cashin Forsyth
Bird
Wilson NML
Sibley
Waghorn Barks
A bit of a change and get bird to dictate the passing play and give barks a go upfront as he looks dangerous and tell sibley to just enjoy himself
Edit: and if Joe Ward is fit i would play him over NML and I would steer away from crosses into the box and try and be more creative, we pass and never move!

It's probably since the record Premier league season so a good 15 years! Derby has had some horrible luck and not much to cheer about.
Going from one manager to the next endless players coming and going we have only had success (only in short moments) and maybe the other teams of our stature (and below) and teams near us like Lesta/Forest have had good success
The fans can only take so much but we stand by and support regardless
The game being a money game, you need to be funded to hit the Premier league... if we beat Villa may all of our fortunes been different. Cause the prem works differently we probably wouldn't have had any points deduction and also would have written off a lot of debt
We just want something to be proud of like any fan does
One day.... Derby County will rise up again 🐏
-
I think we all need to take a step back, let's get the feel good factor of the club back. It seems like during the hard times with the points deduction we focused on backing the lads and the manager
At the end of the day it doesn't matter what you've done in the past, it's about grouping together the lads who want it most and finding a way to win
Having a bigger wage bill doesn't necessarily mean anything, in life some people are paid more, some less depending on how old they are and how they sell themselves.
What actually matters is how they gel on the pitch and names on paper never reflect how a group of players will perform. Good example of this is players like Ji-Sung-Park or Sergio busquets... don't set the world on fire but fundamental to the teams being successful working for the manager
Let's get behind the lads and give them the confidence, I think they are low and if any of them read this forum I would feel like I wasn't valued.
The game against Cambridge when mendez got the ball at the half way line with the whole pitch ahead of him... he looked spooked! once the crowd realised he is the fastest player on the pitch and he was through on goal with a sprint. You could tell he was gonna fluff it, these players feel the pressure at pride park... I dunno I could be wrong.. does anyone else see it like that? I think that's why the performances have been lacking at home, I think they feel the weight of the fans expectations. they are normal humans and I'm sure they read comments from the Internet
Anyway, Up the Rams! 🐏

Wildsmith
Wilson Nelson Cashin Forsyth
Bird Hourihane
NML Barks
Sibley
Waghorn
Think this is a balanced side
Fullbacks in Wilson and Forsyth offer something going forward
Between Hourihane NML, Sibley, Barks, Sibley & Waghorn are the most likely goal contributors. So should get goals from all over the park
Then bring on the loan lads as impact subs, to be honest we have strength in depth for this league and should be top 6
The likes of fornah can be swapped out for bird and Ward for NML etc
When we are fully fit you could replace maybe 4 or 5 players easily, so plenty of rotation and still get a similar output. How many teams in this league can say that
we definitely need a 10 to make up for lack of pace generally in the team to create chances in my opinion

Sack the awful bar staff who don't know a Lager from a bitter
One match last season I asked for 2 half pints of bitter and I got asked if I'd like it in 1 glass... Jesus Christ
Also could they not pre pour pints for fans arriving at half time so you can just tap your card and have time to drink your pint, queues of people everywhere... it's not rocket science
-
Why are we obsessed with bringing back old managers... would you bring back your ex wives too?
Nostalgia is a dirty liar and I think in order for Derby to move forward, they need to stop looking back!
Mel Morris, old managers or former players... nothing is as good the second time or the third or the fourth.
Need to recreate the new Derby Identity and not have it tied up in how we played 10 years ago etc
Not played the best under Warne but give it time at least, we gave nigel clough 4 years? we've still not spent a penny, we shall see where we are by Christmas.
Play offs this season is the realistic target still plenty to play for
If Warne is sacked he will be sacked but until then....

The only way that refereeing at in the EFL divisions is if they implement VAR, surely it will only help with decisions when their standard is a lot poorer it's high pressure situations like the added time situation yesterday (handball, potential offside)
-
Was it me or at times did it feel like we were playing 3-6-1 at times tonight with NML on the left wing and then no support for him or any runners and just expecting him to kick the ball 20 yards infront of Oxfords defence and beat them on the sprint
He could probably do it once or twice but cmon 🤣

My big concern right now is that Warne has made a system that is going to work great going to the small away grounds and everything is a lot tighter, but when you are on a big pitch everyone is about 3 yards away from where they should be and all teams will do like Oxford did andsoak up the pressure and counter attack once we make a mistake.
Could be a make or break decision for Warne, whether he continues or tries to change something.
Perhaps that's how he should approach it
Play the 3 at the back & wingbacks for the away games on the small pitches and try and play more football at home with a more tradional formation
Would be able to naturally rotate a lot of players then for different types of games

Genuinely like to hear the thoughts to that.
Three absolute abject performances all on our own patch reminiscent of Nigel Pearson’s time in charge, if not worse. Not forgetting the damp end to last season.
There isn’t any hint of it improving anywhere on the pitch and the manager seems to think 352 is the way forward regardless.
The league is weaker and we seemed to have regressed in 12 months. Rosenior bumping into players in July and persuading them so sign and chucking a squad together was better than this.
We were told we had a significant budget. If he’s blown it on these new players, how is this retrievable?
Can’t see two youth loans (which is where we are likely shopping) like White and Springett improving it.
I also think we are well over “bantz” interviews now.
Time to get serious with this club and it’s ambitions whilst the window is still open.
I honestly think the players we have are enough with one or two loans to be in and around the top 6 but....
3 Centre backs... it just seems to me as if no one knows who the big man is and command the box, first goal tonight all 3 nowhere near the attackers
People talk about on here that the 3 midfielders not working but again I think it's due to formation all playing in a flat line no dynamics... who's the defensive mid, who is playing the creative passes
I think we should either go
4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1
Keep it on the floor and pass it round a bit, we don't play more than 5 passes in a row so no wonder we aren't confident on the ball when we get it.
You can still get crosses in the box but passing it round also gives us time to breathe...
Last season it was just Bang into McGoldrick coming deep turn 1 touch, second touch and play down the flanks worked so often... I think Waggy could do that for us this season to a certain extent
so in summary for the Fleetwood game I would play this with waggy in the hole
Wildsmith
Wilson Bradley Cashin Forsyth
Bird Hourihane
NML Waggy Thompson
Collins/Washington
My first proper post on here sorry for the waffle what we need is the opposite, just back to basics football on the floor ⚽️ Up The Rams 🐏

I'm no expert, but I believe the broadcasting rules state they cannot show a live stream of a UK Saturday 3pm game for UK viewers. I believe many on here "fly abroad for a few hours", so they can watch it. Don't ask me how, as I know nothing (And have seen nothing, capeesh?) 👀
Last weekend was an exception, due to the "International Break" thing going on with all those big clubs!
There'll be an expert along shortly, but that will have to do you for now, as I wanted you to get a reply in time for you to change your afternoon plans, and get thasen over to Pride Park afore 3pm! 😉🐏
Cheers Mucker!
Think I may take your advice and do it the old fashioned way!

Hello fellow Rams Fans,
May be asking an obvious question but trying to buy a pay per view for the Ipswich game and the video is greyed out or says not available in your country (I'm at home)
Any light on this would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

I think the players struggle to play under pressure especially at Pride Park. The atmosphere is nowhere near as good as last season, the buzz is starting to fade away
I don't think our players are as good as we think they are, bar one or two
But they are enough to hit top 6 this season, I think by Christmas we will probably be in the top 6 with Warne. The competition is a lot poorer this season
definitely need a pacy striker, lack of pace upfront is killing us
