Yes, we had all of January to sign a striker and no doubt we tried for the entire month to secure a deal.
But it is not straightforward. Clearly we want players who will add something to the squad and we want someone who will improve us in some way. It’s not a case of taking absolutely anyone.
Better players are usually more difficult to sign, and clubs and even players will use whatever tactic they can to get the best deal and move possible. Moves you think are close often break down because of this.
If Collins is out for any length of time, it’s just really unfortunate.

    CBT will be fine.
He has played 1.5 games in four weeks so he is obviously not fully fit nor up to speed.
It’s a shame he has not hit the ground running but there is no point in writing him off.
Mendez Laing, Barkhuizen and Wilson have all had spells in the team where things haven’t clicked but they have bounced back and performed.
I am pretty confident he will come good.

It is a worry if Collins is out for any length of time.
But having four forwards (Collins, John Jules, Waghorn, Washington) out at one time as well as multiple other players in the squad just says we have been very unfortunate.
Let’s see if we can pick up a free agent. Let’s see where Washington is with his recovery. Let’s see if we can recall Brown. Let’s see if we can go with a fluid front three of NML, CBT and Barkhuizen.
All we can do is regroup and make the best out of a bad situation.

Well, at least you've given him a fair crack of the whip before making your mind up 😂 Nothing like 135 minutes of football to form a complete assessment of a player

I think some people are just getting their ducks in a row ready to continue criticising Warne even if he gets us promoted and to become an established Championship team. Perhaps they're beginning to worry. 😀

It’s kind of funny that a lot that slate warne as being only suited to being in a Rotherham situation competing against better players and better budgets creating that underdog batting mentality and doing well are certain he won’t cope when put in that situation with derby in the championship with a bit more wiggle room than he had at Rotherham , then I see the he won’t be good enough to get to or survive in the prem 😂,, if we had a manager who looked like he was prem quality at this point there’s no way we could keep him long enough to get us there 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're missing the point, how can you judge him against something that has proven to be very difficult, where managers like Steve M have already spectacularly failed, with much bigger resources.

I think you are right. I suppose we have to remember how long Ipswich and Sunderland - and others - took to get out of this division. IF we get promotion this year, getting out in two seasons from the position we were in would be very good going

Shows the mentality and probably lack of understanding by some fans if they are judging PW against an objective of getting to the PL.
Billy D, Jim S and Arthur C are the only managers in my lifetime that have ever got us promoted and some are saying that PW will never do it, so sack him.
Mel Morris comes to mind for some reason 😏

The thing is, you can't say with certainty - this is only your opinion and not necessarily what will happen in the future. Your often pompous posting is no more relevant than any other poster on here but you give the impression of being the all-knowing expert. I have no idea as to what the next 1, 2 or 3 years will bring, any more than you have.

This is simply a hunch with nothing tangible to back it up.
How you can say this with such certainty is beyond me.

Yep, it was obvious so if he is seriously injured, Warne and co have got what they deserved.

Busy week here.  Completely missed this game, and not even had chance to do anything more than a very brief speed-read of this thread.

...Just got around to watching the 8min highlight vid... No way did we deserve to win that... They even hit the post, FFS!  👀 🙄

Ha!  A nice steady strike from Max for the first.  Not spectacular by any means, but it's still a good 22/23 yards with 5 striped shirts and a keeper twixt him and the goal.  Thumbs up from me.
I'm gonna give Max the benefit of the doubt, and assume he knew where NML was (Or where he should be? 🤷‍♂️) for his delightful little triple reverse blind lobdink, and I adored NML's deft touch with his bonce, to set himself onwards and goalwards.  Good touch, good run, and clinically finished.  Only a cheeky little dink over the keeper could have bettered that... but I ain't complaining!  My favourite of the highlight reel.
As for the 3rd, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for coming inside, and curling one in from one corner of the box to the far post, around and beyond what is always an overstretched keeper.  Beautiful!
I'm sure I scored one just like that v @Henrycav81 in '77 (He always ended up in goal for some reason, can't remember why! 👀) #lastpick.

Only seen 8mins, but hell yeah... we so deserved that!

    It was very chaotic.
I find the set up at Exeter doesn’t really suit a large away following. It never feels joined up because you have people spread across two standing areas and one seating area and everyone does their own thing.
Last night you had people singing about mermaids on one side of the goal and you had people singing about darts players on the other side and lots of pockets of noise but no real togetherness.
It’s also not comfortable for all fans. The terrace is too close to the pitch and the space between rows is often too tight, making it difficult to see all areas of the pitch clearly and difficult to move around.
It was so packed yesterday that I could barely move a muscle without invading someone’s personal space, so you can only imagine how my fiancée (who is relatively new to following Derby) must have felt.
Exeter are a nice, family friendly club but they need a more modern stadium if they want to progress, absolutely.

Exeter gave a really good account of themselves. They played some nice passing football, kept us on the back foot for large spells but never capitalised at any point. They are so very evidently a young side with a lot to learn. A more streetwise team would have run us ragged tonight.
All of our added experience shone through in the end. We were calm, collected, and absolutely surgical on the counter attack. Wildsmith, Nelson, Adams, Bird, Mendez Laing, Barkhuizen and Collins all played important roles in differing ways. Mendez-Laing in particular caused all kinds of problems when we got him into areas where he can hurt the opposition.
All in all, it won’t have got the purists doing laps of their living room, but going to an in-form side on the up and full of confidence and one who had beaten Peterborough only a week prior and delivering an incredibly mature and professional away performance is honestly something Warne and the players deserve massive credit for.

Yep it’s interesting that the poster minimise mcg under warne and perhaps nml by saying his goals per game was better than his best career season under warne when mcg dropped down before yet we have heard consistently how warne beasts his players and causes time out injured , well he got a tune out of mc g and is doing the same with nml ,
I just wish certain posters would give warne a fair crack of the whip , everything bad is because of him , everything good in spite of him is the default of some 🤷🏻‍♂️
