Easy viewing here in Chicago on itv.com via a VPN. Happy for Warne to live to fight another day. These games are never easy. Have a strange feeling things are about to turn bit like they did 28 years ago when Igor joined us this time of year. It’s a very strange feeling because the centre midfield is still powderpuff and we rely on goals from wingers. Need to get to Jan quickly and hope we haven’t lost any further ground.

If Warne or any other loser was running Clowes property business, and performing like this, would he sack them ? You bet he would.

As a very bare minimum, one mobile striker and a midfielder with bite who is also capable of getting forward. Then on top of that, we will need replacements for Bird, Hourihane, Collins if they leave. We can cover for Cashin as Forsyth/Nyambe can move to CB and we have Elder, Ward, Wilson as FB. But we must keep Nyambe.
Hoping Bird stays because he should be the best player in this division and is capable of being the best player in the Championship if allowed to play his own game and plays at a high tempo where one touch is much easier. Still time for a top 2 finish and that should be the aim. But we will need Bird at his best.

So without doubt the squad is capable of performances based on tempo and movement. We have enough evidence of that, certainly warded off the evil spirits tonight. No matter that Northampton are crap, so is virtually every other team in L1. Putting pace on the ball exposes our quality edge. What we need now is consistency, home and away. Helps if the same line up is selected, I’d certainly stick with this back 4.

It's a good job we kicked up so much of a fuss, or we'd be sleepwalking into obscurity. You're welcome.

Agree with the overall sentiment, but in an attempt to find some balance, Clowes gave Warne a 4 year contract which looks stupid given our financial predicament. And Warne is rocking up to post match interviews for games that we lost but should expect to win, and he doesn’t look or sound at all bothered. It’s not hurting enough. Warne is more interested in the latest fashion accessory than providing an analysis of the game and what we need to do differently. Sounds to me like Warne has no idea what the problem and solution are, and worse it doesn’t sound like he cares. And he’s started to blame others and distance himself.

Overall it isn’t a good look from Warne, so Clowes needs to realise that the man he awarded a 4 year contract to is potentially taking someone for a long ride. That is for Clowes to deal with. If I were Warne I’d at least start to look like I’m taking this seriously rather than hide behind the latest bobble hat and lots of football chummy jargon like ‘diags’. It’s only the folks who don’t know what they’re doing who have to work that hard to sound like they do. Players are perceptive ; if they see the coach going through the motions, they are likely to follow. Personally I’d prefer teacups at half time.

Wasn’t expecting much change out of a Steve Evans side which are always difficult to play against as they are big, physical, high energy and know a simple game plan. Exactly what DCFC has not been for most of the last 3 decades.

Warne has lost control now. Every week is random. He in that hope only mode where he hopes we might win a game, but actually is doing nothing about it. He has to go, and if Clowes doesn’t have the balls to do it, he has to go too.

Warne is trying to play the Rotherham way with the cast of It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, and he’s too stupid to spot that and change it. But it’s the only trick he knows. We’ve got La-di-da Gunner Graham and Lofty up front, Gladys in midfield and all Warne can come up with is ‘soft underbelly’ ?

Soft underbelly means we have a bunch of players whose heart isn’t in it, just want a final pay day for bang average couldn’t care less performances. Warne has to take responsibility for that. If it hurts show it. Forget the dog walk and pub lunch tomorrow, get them in for bleep tests and some gym work at 8am. Start shaking them up and make them accountable. Fed up seeing lots of smiley chummy faces on social media during training. I want to seem them sweating, in pain, running hard with not a cone or piece of elastic gimmicks in sight.
it’s all on you Warne. Just all too cosy and comfortable at the moment. Warne’s ambition is purely personal and financial. He wants dog walks, pub lunches, an easy life, laugh with the lads during training, no acrimony, jog with his son, more bobble hats, ego stroking etc. clowes was daft enough to give him a 4 year contract. Great business man that.

A win is a win no matter the opposition. All about tempo,we just have a bunch who prefer the easier path of exhibition pace if they are allowed. The movement, speed and one touch of the first goal will kill any side in L1. Hourihane doesn’t have the legs to beat the drum, Bird may have the desire given the need for a new contract. Otherwise it isn’t obvious who will inject the kind of energy and forward drive that say Madison has at Spurs.

The  key is movement and perception of space. No planned moves needed, just tempo and intuition which all the players have. Warne needs a consistent structure (four at the back) and find a consistent line up and if that pisses a few off who aren’t first choices then fine. He then needs to work out how to set the tempo from the first minute and keep it high. Watch Madison, he drives forward with the ball if there is space in front, otherwise he looks for a forward pass. Very few backwards or sideways passes which are tempo killers. Bird is more than capable at this level but needs movement in front of him. Quality is more visible at tempo, we need to make our extra quality count.

Credit Hourihane for having some bottle. He epitomises the bits and pieces squad we have. Some relatively good athletes who are not good on the ball (Smith, Fornah etc) and some good players who aren’t athletic enough (Hourihane, Bird, Thompson). And too many that are neither (Cashin, Collins, Waghorn). The squad is nowhere near as good as some folks think, and the academy delivers what exactly ? I would argue no more than other L1 clubs. With a limited budget that is a tough job for anyone, but I’d still expect more than Warne can conjure.
It’s ready made for someone who can squeeze something out of nothing. We may need to make plans for Nigel.
