TJJ certainly has talent but with this window being so important and with funds limited, he’s too much of a risk. He hasn’t played 60 mins in a game with us yet and his injury record really does have him down as ‘fragile’ or at worst a ‘sick note’.

Too risky/ let’s look at other alternatives.

Who would be the other alternatives?

With his past injury record he will always be a risk, but without those issues he would be playing at a much higher level and we wouldn’t have a chance of signing him.

While we are playing at this level we need to take a few (educated) risks on signing players that have had setbacks, but have the potential to play at a higher level.

TJJ is ideal for us right now. We need forwards that give us a different dimension from Collins and with him only having 6 months left on his contract then we can potentially get a bargain deal on someone with his attributes. Arsenal won’t be offering him a new deal now, it’s up to the player to find a club that will help his career take off. I hope it’s with us and he goes on to get back to full fitness.

Good player, agreed. But absolutely of no value if injured all the time…

TJJ is a talented young player who is rebuilding his career. Yes, he gets bundled over. Yes, he’s had a poor injury record. But so has Waghorn, Washington etc and they’re not going to get any better as players whereas this guy will.

He fashions chances with his touch and awareness. We haven’t seen him start, yet he’s already scored a couple and had other efforts well saved like on Saturday (he looked devastated not to score).

In a squad devoid of good finishers, he is a valuable asset. He’s exactly the type of ‘gamble’ we should take.

Exactly.  What a shame Washington and Waghorn weren't on six month loan spells. Will either of them get back to full fitness this season?

Waggy has at least given us some goals early doors, and he's a good option off the bench when we need to hold the ball up, but Washington hasn't really offered us anything this season.

I thought Washington was starting to look quite useful with a couple of goals in the home games against Exeter and Northampton.

Then he got injured.

Have to say it's been another difficult season injury-wise, with the squad only now back to something like manageable numbers. Of course every team has its share of bad luck, but when you look at who has been out for longish period(s), it's definitely been tricky. The one I keep thinking about, given the way I believe Warne wanted to set up, is losing Embleton for the duration with the lad having barely kicked a ball. Honestly, after Thorne (and all those that followed), every time I see a Derby player go down looking hurt these days, I literally wince 😞 Stats would probably show we are no more, or less lucky than others sides in this regard, but it feels horrible when it one of our lads, not least for the players themselves.
