His wife slapped him last weekend, his response was to slap her back twice. All caught on camera.

Now you think he would keep his head down for a bit, nope, here he is promoting his new venture and I kid you not.....Power Slap League!

The timing, not a good look at all this ?

This is what qualifies as "Sport" now?. Sheeesh.

Well he's the president of the UFC, sports figure if you like.

As soon as they called darts a sport, everything can be thrown in, even Monopoly and Scrabble.

I'd be more inclined to call scrabble a pastime rather than a sport.

... Both score 13, but pastime gets the 7 letter bonus!  ?

Isn’t UFC pretend fighting like the pretend wrestling ? Pretend slapping looks like as well.

Noooo no no no.

Wrestling, is just a scripted soap opera with channel 5 style acting, completely unwatchable.

UFC is real MMA fights that makes Boxing looking like Strictly Come Dancing.

One of the most brutal sports out there, that at times can be hard to even watch.

Hmmm.

Wrestling is basically an on-the-fly gymnastic routine with a few rehearsed 'spots', involving two or more highly trained athletes working in sync in an attempt to put on a show for an audience, (usually!) without any intent to injure each other and with some (pretty rubbish, agreed) scripted drama added to the mix because honestly, how else do you sell the idea of oiled up muscle-men grabbing each others pants?

Even the fattest 400/500 lbers have athletic ability & agility these days well beyond what most would think.

It hasn't really even pretended to be a real sport for a good couple of decades, but ironically it might actually qualify as one more than the 'real sport' of punching / kicking the poo out of someone else.

MMA on the other hand... this thread started because someone was using spousal abuse as a promotional tool. Lovely stuff.

It's a sport propelled by the macho nonsense and the idea that the someone inflicting as much physical damage to another as they can (within the confines of the rules) makes them the superior being. Quite clearly BS in modern times, but it appeals to a certain demographic. It doesn't need the scripted drama because of what it taps into, but some of the posturing is nevertheless at 'Made in Chelsea' levels of cringe.

It's hard to watch at its most brutal because deep down you know that you shouldn't really be enjoying it, but your primordial brain kicks in and overrules such thoughts, convincing you that what you're watching isn't some barbaric b******* that should have been left in the dark ages but a worthy spectacle of skill, guts and bravery/

For the record I don't watch either, used to enjoy WWF back in the 90s but that's a very long time ago now.
