I spoke to one of the Stewards last night who was from Rotherham, was at Stoke last Saturday and will be at Sheff Weds this Saturday. I am amazed they have any wages left after travel!  He was telling me that they are there purely for safety reasons and will not get involved if there is any trouble. They will phone for assistance if anything kicks off.

The ones I saw had something like "pitch protection" on the back of their yellow jackets- presumably they'll all lie down together on the turf when it's pouring down with rain to ensure the match still goes ahead?
