MoodHoovers Miekle Moments

Let's have a GOOD News update.

Meikles x rays have been reviewed by a doggie hip specialist and he doesn't need an operation imminently.

He's been referred back for physiotherapy and we have restarted his exercising.

To reward him, we took him with us down to the jurassic coast last week on holiday and he had a whale of a time.

Here he is admiring the view from our cabin....

And enjoying a bit of a chill with our dog and looking up for it.

We're really pleased that he's back on the program as he had been barred from going on the little arranged trips with the other assistance pups. So he's about 3 months behind where he should be.

Never mind, he's okay we think and his walking and running are improving daily.

This cheers me up a little in these difficult times, so hope they help cheer others up.

Take care All

More progress from Meikle....

This week was his first formal assessment and he has PASSED ???

He waited patiently for the charity handler, was walked around Romsey, through the department store and behaved impeccably.

So we took him to the seaside yesterday as a treat and here he is with junior and our pet Tigz.

He's looking rightly pleased with himself and we've been given more actions to iron out his remaining behaviour issues ?

Great news so pleased he behaved in the shop with no number 2s. He is going to make whoever he is assigned to so happy.

A very uplifting thread, @Van der MoodHoover! Miekle is a star and a very clever, handsome boy. I can imagine how much hard work and patience has gone into his training. I really hope it all pays off for the sake of everyone and Miekle but if for some reason it doesnt, he is still a beautiful, well-trained and clever dog.

I'll make an embarrassing confession here. I've seen the title of this thread before but assumed that it was about you and your washing machine. Then I realised that Miekle is not the same as Miele. Must get my glasses checked, seriously.

Don't tell Mrs VdM but I've spelt his name consistently wrong.

It should be be Meikle ?

So is he 'Meekle' or 'Michael'? I'm guessing that whatever the positioning of the i and the e it's still Meekle! Whatever the outcome I'm sure he couldn't give a toss!  I shall call him Miekle Good Pooch!

Your Miekle reminds me so much of my Lab Jet,she absolutely loved water and retrieving game from ponds, rivers.

She had Drakeshead lineage in her pedigree and as such was a good bitch for water retrieves.

Hope all goes well.

He's a bit of a poorly boy at the moment.

The start of fireworks and game shooting has exposed a high anxiety level which is needing medication to tone down his adrenal gland so he doesn't associate loud noises with the need for flight.

The medication has sadly had a side effect of mild incontinence, so toilet training has gone out of the window. Literally on occasion!

On top of all that he's picked up an ear infection which needs further medication.

And when Mrs VdM mentioned to our vet that he's always drunk a lot and wee'd a lot he's suddenly wanted to start taking blood and urine tests for congenital kidney and urinary tract issues.

The latest odds have swung firmly back towards him not being suitable for assistance work, but with all his issues Mrs VdM has let it be known that she cannot let him be rehomed anywhere that isn't fully empathetic.

For once I agree. So odds atm is he's going to be kept as a family pet.. But there remains a slim chance he'll work his way back from all this.

I'll keep posting and working on it. Decision isn't imminent I don't think.

Thanks all for all your continued interest and kind messages.

Hope he's better soon thats the main thing. We are too in the sticks for fireworks but can imagine the shooting would upset him

Another day, another vets appointment as Meikle continues to cause concern.

His ear infection is calming down, but new concern emerged over the amounts he's drinking and weeing.

And finally the coup de grace which has greatly upset Mrs VdM, as the vet wishes to report Meikle to the charity for "inappropriate erections".... ?

Or "doing a @DarkFruitsRam7" as we say chez MoodHoover ??
