Terminator Dark Fate - features a wise-cracking Linda Hamilton who seems to have developed Tourette's since her last run out. Meanwhile, Arnie has morphed into an empathetic terminator, very much in tune with his feelings, who muses on life, the universe and fag packet philosophy. Grim. A horrible CGI fest and two hours I'll never get back.

Clod / 10

Motherless Brooklyn - bit of a creeper but glad I stuck with it as it finished with a deal more gusto than it started. A tad over-hyped, but a decent enough movie all the same. Ed Norton wrote, directed and stars.

What excellent reviews! Have half a mind to trust you know what you are talking about and I love Ed Norton so will definitely give that one a whirl. Everything I have heard about Terminator has made me think it will continue to wreck the series legacy so again you sound on the money.

Does put me in a rather a quandry though as you gave Ford v Ferrari a great review but I don't really find cars interesting and I thought the trailer looked dull as ditch-water.

If you're not into motorsport I'd give Ford v Ferrari to be honest. Try 1917 or The Irishman instead. Both are great. If you like The Irishman have a look at A Bronx Tale. It's older but something of a hidden gem.

Presume that is meant to say 'give it a miss'?

I liked 'Rush' and found 'Sienna' really haunting...but to me neither are about cars and car development really, more about the characters and human emotion.

Irishman definitely on the list, but it's pretty long so need a decent run up at that and am watching Fargo series which is in easier bites.

Bronx Tale, great film yep.

Heard lot about 1917 and the style /format but still not sure I understand... Seems very hot on the heels of Dunkirk too but sure I will watch at some point.

Ok, so just watched Richard Jewell on a hunch. Directed by no lesser man than Clint himself, most of whose directorial output I've really liked, it's an absolute cracker of a movie. I'm a big Sam Rockwell fan which, Eastwood aside, I guess was the hook, but by Sam's standards, this was quite an understated performance and excellent in the circumstances. The real revelation was Paul Walter Hauser is is absolutely top-notch in the title role. Quite brilliant in fact.

Anyways, absolutely loved the movie and can heartily recommend it.

Been a year since I have been on this thread - so I did indeed rewatch Hateful 8 and like several Tarantino films (I am a massive fan) I prefered it the second time. up to 8.5/10

Watched Green Book was very surprised thought it was not my kind of film by the synopsis but I loved it - Vigo Mortenson was awesome 9/10

Once upon a time in Hollywood 10/10 I think it is Tarantino's second best film ever

Looking forward to the Irishman over the holiday period

Irishman was great and very long 8.5/10

Not as good as Casino or Goodfellas  9/10 and 10/10 respectively

Just clicked on your link and that looks like a film that would appeal to me. Struggling to look past the title though without thinking of PoRno Paul. He really was a Dick Jewell.

Red Dog - one for all the canine lovers on here which I keep forgetting to mention. A wonderful Ozzie flick about a red Kelpie (Ozzie sheepdog) who whilst not having a master, had more than fair his share of mates. A true story that both funny and heartwarming though it did leave me feeling a tad emotional and desperate to rescue a hound or two! Makes me smile every time I think of it now.

1917. 8.5/10. It's about World War 1....thought provoking.

Also shot in a few really long takes. Someone messing up often resulted in them packing up to try again tomorrow (to get the right lighting). Incredible.

Forgot to mention that...the camera work certainly was amazing. There is a "how they did that" video on youtube but not posting a link for risk of spoilers.

Oceans Twelve. I really liked the first (remake) film so not sure why I missed this. Wish I had. Despite a great cast similar to the first one, this was a bizarre film. No real plot, no action, nothing. Just a few lame "jokes" and a confusing weak plot. I did pay attention but just could not follow what was going on. 2/10 for the cast.

Wait till you get to Oceans 8....you might want to have started higher than 2/10 ?
