If and when the vaccine starts coming out it will go at first to those that have had the toughest time during Covid. Key workers and the elderly.

I think a good way to support and reward them would be for everyone getting a certificate a week or two after their second jab.

Then open up sports grounds and pubs and restaurants (Monday to Wednesday) initially purely for those who have a certificate.

They can then socialise with others and feel safe.

There’s the whole quote I was replying to thin end fits perfectly well on a few levels

If you follow the thread you will find Albert based his return to normal on the term close to zero hence the question what his opinion that number close to zero is acceptable,,, so as you want to jump in and muddy the waters the same simple question to you ,,what number close to zero is acceptable to you? What’s your cut off line numbers wise?

It's a silly question. We don't decide what is acceptable.

As close to zero as possible is the only answer.

I used the phrase key workers.

I think the people you have listed are very much deserving and I never said otherwise so this is another strawman argument.

Even though I am about 28 million down the list to get a vaccine in the UK, I would be very happy if the elderly and key workers get a chance to enjoy themselves in a safe environment.

I'm not sure why any reasonable person would object to that.

You'd also have to vaccinate the staff of the leisure facilities that open.

They'd have to be digital passes, to cut down on forgery etc, which may not be feasible for some older people to use.

Maybe a unique QR code for individuals who've been vaccinated could work.

I'm not suggesting forcing people to do stuff. It gives people an opportunity. I'm very happy for people who have had to shield or work in dangerous workplaces to have opportunities where they feel safe.

I very happy for that to happen before I get that opportunity

Really ? ????,  So the whole thread is silly as we don’t get to decide or just the bits when we get down to the nitty gritty and challenge one of the most ardent posters regards challenging others ? ,, come on Albert you stated the close to zero ,,, how close to zero is acceptable in your opinion to change tack and not be a granny killer ?

There are some that may get a whiff of virtue signalling but not me , the thin end of vaccine certificates becoming the new normal forever will trouble plenty ,more than a few

does the new normal which will remain where people will need certificates to do everything from walking the dog to being allowed to earn a living Trouble me ,,,,,, duck yes

nothing that needs a certificate

doesn’t trouble me if key workers are rewarded in ways  as long as it’s not used as a Trojan horse for certificates to live and breath

Interesting though sage , you think b4 should be made to stay at home whilst key workers get in to watch Derby ?

Not forever, but whilst this virus is controlled by vaccine distribution, it would make sense to allow some freedoms to people who have suffered the most.

What is the alternative?

No one is allowed in?

Everyone is allowed in?

You seem to like to moan at everything anyone else says but offer nothing as an alternative.

Interested to know whether you think BAME should play any part in priority for vaccine?

In my role as a government scientist...oh wait...oh yes...I don't have the data nor knowledge to even comment on that decision.

Happy trolling.

Did I not answer your 3 questions ( skipped those answers?) pretty certain I didn’t moan about key workers getting into prime park before me as a reward ??‍♂️

So you can ask others opinions and give your own but if others ask yours it’s trolling ??‍♂️, I can assure you I have not the slightest interest in trolling , but it seems that’s the response when you ask straight questions back

From JCVI

Risk groups

There’s ongoing work within the UK to refine the identification of persons at risk of serious disease and mortality from COVID-19 infection. As well as age and underlying co-morbid conditions, the committee notes that early signals have been identified of other potential risk factors, including deprivation and ethnicity. As more evidence on at-risk groups emerges, this work will inform the review of the composition, and order of priority, of groups for vaccination. Any programme will need to ensure every effort is made to get good coverage in black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups, in areas of higher socio-economic deprivation, and in areas with outbreaks or high levels of community transmission.
