Norman Hull
What an act of cowardice and shame by Radio Derby cancelling Sports Scene tonight.

Curtains
It could be cancelled altogether just like DET forum was . Who knows maybe RD think it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
maxjam
Judging by the thread on here, don't you think cancelling the show was a good thing?
Simmo’s left foot
I got home from work early to see what they would do, was expecting as a minimum an apology statement. Instead no apology, cancelled the phone in and and replaced it with a preview show, no reason given. Talk about cowards!
Norman Hull
No - not a good thing. Spineless by RD and it damages them even further. Cowardly and shameful.
G STAR RAM
Who was going to do Sportscene talk in? Hasnt the mob got their wish and Ramage been sacked? Why should Radio Derby apologise? Ramage was giving his own opinion as a freelance journalist and has apologised for it.
SSD
Good decision to cancel tonight's show. Poor decision from RD to not acknowledge the issue on air and explaining to listeners what the situation is.
therealhantsram
Smart move. It would just give the racists a platform to spout their anger at Craig's dismissal. Better to let the dust settle and go again.

I've already alluded to Ramage not being an employee of the BBC so they do not feel they therefore need to make an apology on his behalf. They have said that they no longer will be working with him which doesn't need much more to add to it.
Norman Hull
RD have buried their head in the sand. A pathetic response to a situation that needed to be acknowledged and addressed. I'm sure the Programme Controller at Radio Derby is already regretting this crass decision.

Because folk on both sides of the argument will, rightly or wrongly, have been expecting them to address what has happened. Leeds Ram
I can see why they've cancelled it by not adding fuel to the fire but they should have had at least a discussion panel with a representative of radio Derby, maybe a representative of a fan group who have commented on the matter etc. and a representative of the club to have a cool, calm discussion of what happened and where to go next. I wouldn't think a phone in is a good idea given the situation but neither is just cancelling

Norman Hull
This is not about what Ramage said. Nor is it about whether or not he is a racist. This is about Radio Derby and their decision to cancel the Sports Scene programme tonight without acknowledging why. I find that appalling. By doing that they have made a bad situation worse.
