Care to qualify that statement or is it the usual empty Norman soundbite?

Look at the supposed left wing candidates in the US at the minute.

Socialist until it comes down to the individual, which is where capitalism takes over.

You going to offer me out over PMs today?

You wouldn't dare. You're not about it. You won't do it.

You have no thoughts on it? Isn't he right that our political culture of denial has been found out?

Conspiracy theory. Who says the world is perfect. I am to assume that Raab gets a call from some tobacco CEO every morning telling him what to do? I am just trying to imagine those board meetings.. Item 1 - ducking over the poor. Item 2 - Create a global pandemic. Item 3 - duck over the poor again.

I am sure big business tries to sway opinion, everyone is trying to sway opinion in one or another. Does not mean it is successful.

Name me a Socialist state that has done well. One that is truly left wing and opens its borders to all.

You not offering me out today?

I'll bet big business as more sway over the governance of our country than you or I do.

So you keep telling everyone pal in between bleating over passive aggression. 'An absolute unit' wasn't it?

You've been given examples so many times of working social democracies, I was just curious to see if you could actually back up your 'all socialists are blue meanies' BS but unsurprisingly you can't so best leave it there really.

Couldn't resist pointing out that all those steroids are ducking up your basic spelling and grammar pal. It amused me. Anyway, I'll leave you and G-Star to your digital reach-arounds. Enjoy!

I hadnt when I first posted. Then the pressure mounted and I caved. Off for a shower now, I feel dirty.

Had you read the article one minute before this post, when you seem to think it was suggesting that big business had created a global pandemic?

Are you suggesting that politicians that are in favour of higher taxes on the wealthy in return for better healthcare, education etc  shouldn't themselves be wealthy?  Is that the point you were making?

That's a perfectly valid reading of the article (and I'm glad you did read it in the end) - and probably not a million miles from my only criticism of it, which is that he may be overstating the case in such a dramatic manner that doesnt help his case. People will be inclined to dismiss it because of the tone

There is a hell of a lot of depressing truth in what he says though about the nature of modern politics being public relations for vested interests. When was the last time you genuinely believed that a change was being made purely for the benefit of the man in the street and not for the interests of a lobbyist? Politics is just about convincing us that the former is true, when it very rarely is.

Now suddenly we actually need politicians to make decisions for us - to literally hold the fabric of society together and not because they are being lobbied by a particular interest. These are weird times.

Hell I even liked a post by @Uptherams earlier (and I wasnt even being sarcastic!)
