RamNut
Not sure if this has slipped under the radar. i hadn't noticed until today.....but.....we named a team with no foreign players in it ....... Carson - england bogle - england forsyth - scotland keogh - ireland tomori - england johnson - england bryson - scotland mount - england bennett - england nugent - england wilson - wales no foreign players. All GB and Ireland..........(for the fifth time this season). what would jim smith say?
sunnyhill60
A pointless observation and thread. Little change compared to recent seasons.
PrivateDerby
I'm quite proud of having mostly British/Irish players. I'm more than happy to see any player run out and play for Derby but there's just summat about it for me. Especially the younger lads in and around the England set up, it only looks good on us. Keep it up and Up The Rams!
CapeTownRams
I’d regard any Scot as foreign.......?
Duracell
Says a lot about the state of the game that many of those players are internationals. Wales, Ireland and Scotland’s squad is full of second tier players. Seems England is heading that way too.

We have had some great foreign players and DCFC is not UKIP.
TigerTedd
Ireland is definitely foreign. They’re not even the same continent (bit Keogh is barely Irish). We had josefzoon come on in the second half. He’s a bit foreign.

JoetheRam
There's four foreign aliens in that starting 11 for a start. Come on Frank, sort it out.
angieram
I was always excited in my younger years when we signed someone from abroad as it felt a bit exotic and held the promise of flair, and bringing something a bit different to the team. I don't need to reel off the names of those players that have graced the BBG and PP over the decades. What I am excited about with this team is that we are getting the flair and excitement from some of 'our own' - and I would be just as excited if that were Elsnik and Ravas as I am that it is Bennett and Bogle. To be honest, I don't even notice nationality any more, it's such a fluid concept in modern football. But I do notice good football and that should be the only thing that matters. Anon
Well personally, I think it's disgusting that a football team from a certain country is largely made up of players from that country. If I supported Derby I'd have serious reservations about this, but then I don't support Derby because that would be small minded provincialism. I support all football clubs from across the globe equally.

Your thread title is just a play on the name of an old west end show - but it means that your simple observation and comparison with previous Derby teams is being read by some as an injunction. So I think he’d probably say it's a farce.

The Key Club King
I think the lack of foreign players is a very relevant point to make and I assume the thread title was tongue in cheek. I've thought for a good while (since Clough) that our poor engagement in the foreign transfer market has held us back. The fact that we were so good yesterday suggests otherwise, mind. RadioactiveWaste
I think to a large extent, the import market doesn't offer quite the same bargain potential as it did maybe 20 years ago, the scouting and information across the game has moved on so you're less likely to get an exceptional player for an average price or an average player very cheap, but get what you pay for by and large. Obviously, the wolves thing wasn't that they broke any rules strictly speaking, but they apparently didn't pay market rate for some very good players last year. A situation which has apparently not been allowed to repeat itself this season (forest). I kind of like that we've got mostly British and Irish players in the team, and some young ones from our youth team, it's not a big deal for me, being a good team and successful are far more relevant. Millenniumram
Always feel that we should be opening up to the foreign market more tbh, often British players are overpriced and aren’t as consistent. Seems to me our scouting net isn’t very wide... that said all I care about is how they play on the pitch not where they’re from so I’m more than happy to have a whole team of brits if they keep winning!
