What's the biggest domination by Derby fans you have ever seen

I was at the Lincoln game as well, but only arrived just on kick off thanks to traffic problems.

I seem to remember a great following to Coventry in the seventies for a cup tie on a Sunday because of the 3 day week.

Plymouth away in the FA cup. We got near Plymouth and a van load of Derby fans waved us down and said the police were rounding up Derby fans that went into Plymouth and took them to the ground, so we went to Torquay where every pub was full of Derby lads.

I remember going to the bog in one pub before we left and noticed all the copper pipes had gone from above the piss troughs, went outside and saw a youth pushing it under the seats of their minibus.

That was a cracking day out, but crap game.

You beat me to it, I was living in Cornwall so only an hour trip for me. Totally filled the Devonport End with 12,000 fans. Shame it was such an awful game but I still came away thinking we would be in an FA Cup semi final....

Great away following and great day out must be Sheffield United away in our promotion season of 86. When Gee scored that goal the away end went crazy, started at the back of the terrace and ended up at the front, probably the biggest away following I have ever been in 10.000,  rams fans giving it large, and the away game at West Ham late 80s, when we took the piss all day in London, oh such happy days, we could have a few more this season as well.

We only had 9,000 tickets for that game. Similarly @Derby blood we only had 9k tickets for Bramall Lane.

But we didn't dominate the ground in either game. There weren't Rams fans all over the place.

I'm not talking about just large turnouts, but taking over the town or city. We sure as hell didn't take over Sheffield.

Having said that, it did seem like we took over Bournemouth for the opening game of the season under Cox.

Coventry in 74 on a Sunday, it was estimated at the time that we had 17,000 there in a crowd of 40,000.....

Leicester away 1975, some say 9,000 some reports had it at 12,000 but safe to say we completely took over Leicester that day.....virtually clinched the League championship that day as well.

There were so many in the 80s as already mentioned plus Blackburn in that season and Barnsley a few years ago.

My favourite was a friendly at forest in the 70’s when we took the Mick round Nottingham all day, the FEC didn’t want to play that day. ?

Some great memories brought back there.

Coventry 74, Leicester 75, Cambridge, Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Bournemouth, Sheff U, Plymouth, I went to all of those.

I’ll add Darlington as well on a Monday night when Phil Gee scores the only goal, Derby fans everywhere, climbing into the main stand.

I got trashed at Grimsby at a cup game i think -  - then had a fight at Grimsby after the match in the mains street and at Lincoln!!

For some reason  - no pool balls were left  when i was playing - when i wanted to have a game lol and the rest was a blur

great day out - we won, had a fish supper, fight in two towns

Up the Rams

All good bar the fighting,  I don’t think fighting is anything to crow about

Southend away, think 92/93 last game of season.

Seemed like we had 3 sides of the ground, Rams everywhere.

Was that when we qualified for the play offs so nothing to play for in the last league game... Just a party at the seaside

Barnsley away in the promotion season was brilliant. Think Darren Currie scored in a 2-0 win.

Coincidentally that hat was also the moment I realised that our team wasn’t very good, I just remember thinking how lucky the nature of the goals were and how we couldn’t rely on that if we went up.

I'm not necessarily talking about biggest turnout, but events where we overwhelmed the home teams support.

For me it was playing at Lincoln in 1986.

We'd played there the year before with a big turn out, but this was crazy.

We drove in on the A46 and there is a really big pub just before you get to the city on your lefthand said.

We stopped for some beers and weren't ready for what we saw.

The entire pub was wall-to-wall Rams fans and the atmosphere incredible.

Then when we got into the ground, our end was full and there were Rams fans all over the place.

The kid who was driving us went in the Cambridge end and promptly got arrested for punching a Lincoln fan. And he was the only sober one of us.

Consequently we had to get the service train back with the DLF who were planning on getting off at Little Eaton (I think) to go looking for Red Dogs. We politely declined their generous offer to accompany them on their jolly exploits.

Plus we won, which was nice.

I remember going to Cambridge the season after we got relegated in 1980 and us totally owning the ground and surrounding pubs.

Then we went and lost 3-0 which put a damper on things.

Gonna copy @Eatonram into this because his memory is way better than mine.

Things I remember about that game are; the Referee was awful, the away end seating area had no seats and walking over a bridge going back to the station after the game and looking down on the sheer number of Derby fans.

Have you got a report to back that up re the Plymouth away game? Living in Cornwall at the time it was all massive news locally and I do have a good memory for things like that and was sure they said 12,000 Rams fans would be coming to the match???

I was thinking about that match at cambridge today. We thought we were going to storm the league that year (div 2). Went down there and promptly got stuffed. One of lifes many lessons. Thats why we shouldn't get too carried away now on the back of a couple of decent friendlies.

can remember the floodlights there ha ha

One of the best Derby days for me was actually an England game against Holland. We took over a pub on Trafalgar Square, it was all Derby apart from two Dutch fans who never had to buy a drink and had a great time. Man U fans came in saying “we’re all England” - they didn’t last long! But the lasting memory was of Rich Gray coming in with a cut lip saying “those Forest fans got what they deserved”
