What's the biggest domination by Derby fans you have ever seen

I'm not necessarily talking about biggest turnout, but events where we overwhelmed the home teams support.

For me it was playing at Lincoln in 1986.

We'd played there the year before with a big turn out, but this was crazy.

We drove in on the A46 and there is a really big pub just before you get to the city on your lefthand said.

We stopped for some beers and weren't ready for what we saw.

The entire pub was wall-to-wall Rams fans and the atmosphere incredible.

Then when we got into the ground, our end was full and there were Rams fans all over the place.

The kid who was driving us went in the Cambridge end and promptly got arrested for punching a Lincoln fan. And he was the only sober one of us.

Consequently we had to get the service train back with the DLF who were planning on getting off at Little Eaton (I think) to go looking for Red Dogs. We politely declined their generous offer to accompany them on their jolly exploits.

Plus we won, which was nice.

I remember going to Cambridge the season after we got relegated in 1980 and us totally owning the ground and surrounding pubs.

Then we went and lost 3-0 which put a damper on things.

Gonna copy @Eatonram into this because his memory is way better than mine.

I think you mean Long Eaton.

Little Eaton is not the place for a punch up.

You're only the 3rd person out of 4 who have commented just to mention that.

But even so....... https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g7149412-d8660055-r384410244-Little_Eaton_Fishbar-Little_Eaton_Derby_Derbyshire_England.html

Shrewsbury in the mid 80s - Rams fans everywhere you looked - remember a local woman walking towards the ground saying she'd never seen so many away fans. Also remember a group of lads had backed a police dog handler into a shop doorway and were having a laugh barking at his dog - poor bloke was pleading with them to stop before his dog bit someone (which would have most likely been him) - best thing about being in the lower leagues in those days was that we could take over away towns....

I was thinking about that match at cambridge today. We thought we were going to storm the league that year (div 2). Went down there and promptly got stuffed. One of lifes many lessons. Thats why we shouldn't get too carried away now on the back of a couple of decent friendlies.

For the '86 Lincoln match, my brothers and I went to Lincoln on a service train. When we got outside the station, we found a fair number of Derby fans already there, and we were invited by the Lincoln Constabulary to join them. The police, using a pack of half-starved wolves, corraled us into a small area to await the arrival of the football special so that we could "for our own safety" all be escorted to the ground.

All pretty normal stuff in them days. However, one poor bloke that had travelled on our train had quite an interesting time. Ignoring plods instructions, he started to walk away from the station and was promptly slammed against the wall with a couple of slavering hellhounds trying to rip his arms off.

"Stay there with the rest of 'em," says a copper.

"But I've come to visit my aunty," says the bloke.

"Shut it"

"I don't even like football, I'm here to visit me aunty,"

"Behave or you're nicked," sez the copper.

About then the football special arrived and we were marched down to Sincil Bank, the would-be aunty visitor included.

I often wonder if he enjoyed the match.

I even had a 'we'll be back in 81' t-shirt ?

It was a depressing game.

There we were chanting "thank you very much for Alan Biley". We were so packed in I had a severely restricted view . But not only did we lose......i watched the formerly invincible and magnificent Roy McFarland get taken to the cleaners by a 6 foot 5 lower league centre forward.

End of an era.

I got trashed at Grimsby at a cup game i think -  - then had a fight at Grimsby after the match in the mains street and at Lincoln!!

For some reason  - no pool balls were left  when i was playing - when i wanted to have a game lol and the rest was a blur

great day out - we won, had a fish supper, fight in two towns

Up the Rams

Plymouth away in the FA cup. We got near Plymouth and a van load of Derby fans waved us down and said the police were rounding up Derby fans that went into Plymouth and took them to the ground, so we went to Torquay where every pub was full of Derby lads.

I remember going to the bog in one pub before we left and noticed all the copper pipes had gone from above the piss troughs, went outside and saw a youth pushing it under the seats of their minibus.

That was a cracking day out, but crap game.
