texas - before they went all poppy

diesel Park west

hue and cry

the happy Monday’s - I know they were very famous but Shaun Ryder never got the credit he deserved for his lyrics AND his singing.

Depeche Mode of course.

Certainly true in this country at least.

For example, they're worshipped in Germany and have spawned a load of other bands there who are very obviously inspired by DM of the late 80's/early 90s.

There are several I can suggest you try out if you're interested.

Goldfrapp

Some really good stuff by them but I think they shot themselves in the foot by making the style of each album very different from the previous one & potentially having to recruit a new set of fans every time.

Death in Vegas. Contino Sessions is one of my fave albums.

Beta Band. Three EPs are... like nothing else.

I love the scene in Hi Fidelity where John Cusack plays a Beta Band track in his record shop and people started buying it.

Great film for music lovers.

I got sick of it before it was released ? I used to rehearse /practice, in the room next to them in a rehearsal place in Gloucester docks!

No way.!! That’s an awesome story. The drummer was the reason I got a tattoo...I thought that if he looked cool with one then I’m sure I would... did you ever meet them?
