So yep we are officially the 4th best team in the world. As long as you know the difference between 'officially' and 'actually' then that's fine. No real way of defining it definitively, even leagues are imperfect in that regard. But still, 4th in the World Cup is a fine achievement.

And the team that loses the final is the second best team in the world and the two semi finalists are the 3rd and 4th best teams in there world. No way of defining it definitively so we have to use a world competition where everyone enters and all have an equal chance.. 4th best team in the world actually. In fact, looking at Uruguay, they’ve won 4 and lost 1 at this World Cup. They have a better record than England’s (90 mins) Won 3 Drawn 2 lost 2. Belgium’s Won 5 Lost 1 will also be better than Croatia’s Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 1 when they lose tomorrow.

Whatever makes you happy I suppose. The only side we beat convincingly outside of the pub team that was Panama was Sweden. If you want to simplify it to the point where your finish place in the world cup regardless of performance or opponent is what determines who the best team in the world is then please go ahead. France are already the best side in the world at the moment regardless of who wins tomorrow.

But Russia are a pub team and the great Spain couldn’t beat them.....Egypt were going to be dark horses but they turned out to be dog poop.....Poland are ranked in the top 5 and were pathetic....Sweden stopped Italy going and finished above Germany and we swatted them aside.. only 3 other nations managed to get to the semi finals...and Argentina, Germany, Spain, Holland, Italy, Sweden, Uruguay, Colombia, poland, Brazil, Mexico would all have swapped their performances in there World Cup (or non performance) for ours. Good old Beeb, right on the ball as always. Although I'm fairly confident that we'd have been able to cobble a full squad together somehow. Funny thing is, the above players are the ones who've come through the World Cup with the least criticism.

Can’t see why Brazil would swap their performances with England when they played better. The only game they lost was to a team that comfortably beat England twice without breaking sweat. Uruguay only lost to the best team in the tournament, which is more than what England can say.

Also Beeb said Kane had six goals from six on target which certainly isnt true as his lame shot against Crotia was saved by the keeper, before his second shot hit the post. England are likely to break into the top 10 which would be about right. They are not top 4 so finishing fourth is an overachievement atm. Certainly behind Brazil, France and Belgium. Croatia too (just). germany and Spain probably ahead too even after their world cup no-shows., but for how much longer I dont know especially after Iniesta has retired. Would like to see England play Belgium in a proper match after two non-events.
