True, if i worked somewhere that gave me an opportunity but i got a substantial better offer elsewhere i wouldn't expect my existing employers to be happy, but i would still go.

Of course. You'd grab the money. Exactly like the money grabber has done.

I assume you do voluntary unpaid work. Or refuse a payrise if offered one?

If he goes he no doubt doesn't expect to fail though. He may as you say but he will be confident in his ability to succeed or he wouldn't be doing the job

Indeed, but that doesn’t take away from the risk of the game he’s playing, a few journos have commented as such today. We will see of course, but personally I think he’s deluded into thinking he’s better than he is. Not a terrible manager by any stretch of the imagination, but prem class? I’m not convinced.

I work for myself. Your trickery won't work on me. :)

So you were ambitious enough to start your own business yet you criticise others for being ambitious?

I personally think he will get sacked within 18 months buts its just my opinion,  he wouldnt make a decision based on yours or my opinions.

I screwed no one in the process.

How do i know, you could be a male escort for all i know.?

Contracts are there to be broken. Thats why there is a buy out clause in there.

I personally dont like the fact he is going, but i dont blame him for it.

I'm afraid my male escort days would be long behind me now!

Rowett is entirely free to do as he chooses. Just as people who feel let down by him have every right to bemoan him for doing it.

Loyalty cuts both ways - and in recent years, Derby County have shown little of their own.

If Mel was trying to re-establish that then it's not been reciprocated has it? Afterall many were thinking Mel would sack him after our awful run pre-Cardiff. Or even January when he must have known he was tarting about again, but no he gave him a new contract. Re-building bridges has to start somewhere?

He realised he's screwed up the squad with his **** signings, that he got extremely lucky last season and next season he won't get us anywhere near, and he's jumped ship before he gets pushed in November.

For once weve got lucky and got compensation for a limited manager and his entourage who we'd have been paying off  before the year was out.

That’s all fine and dandy in the industries/workplaces most of us as fans are involved in. There’s no emotional attachment in most cases. Football managers are in a pretty unique occupation where they sell a plan to the faithful and try to convince them they are the man they’ve been waiting for to deliver the goods.

Rowett has fed his followers total BS from day one and has left a lot of them feeling let down after defending him from criticism from others including myself. (feel free anybody to check my posts, I never bought his bolleau from day one, I knew he was full of it)

How many people would feel let down, angry/disappointed or saddened you moved on ? A dozen ? 20 ? 50? Nothing like the thousands that bought into his spin and invested their time and own money to support it.

I really disliked your irrelevant remark in an earlier post, is the time, money and support people invested in Rowett irrelevant as well ?

I think you're being a touch over dramatic here. As fans we buy into the club - managers and players will always come and go.

Modern football has created a culture where managers have no job security. Owners with their desperation to chase the cash, supporters with their unrealistic demands, players with all the power have all created a situation where managers know they can be sacked any time, even if doing well. They're always the first in the firing line and easiest to dispose of.

Even the new breed of managers (Mourinho, Conte, Guardiola) have all created a situation where it is normal to only stay at a club a year or two then move on.

Therefore if managers know they are constantly on the edge, who can blame them for looking after their own interests?

Gary's not stupid. He knows what's up at Derby, that he could be gone mid next season despite having to work with far more limited resources than this. He can show loyalty to the club now, but what loyalty will it show him if things go wrong?

Think he knows exactly what he is doing and I doubt he’s deluded, neither does his bank manager and financial advisor I suspect.

Not a terrible manager, maybe not Prem class, but whatever happens at Stoke I’m convinced he’s a rich one!

I don't even pretend to know what Mel is/was trying to do.
