I see Jerome playing a similar role to Shefki Kuqi when he was here. (I would say Jerome is a better player than Kuqi)

Bully and harass defenders with his strength and running ability, therefore making space for the 3 behind to work in.

Not even close to being the same kind of player apart from they're both strikers!!!!

its just a completely different level, as you found out when you got 8 points

Erm, I'll have you know we got a massive 11pts that season. Don't go spreading it around that it was 8pts. You'll have people believing that those players were the worst in premier league history.

Cheers for the heads up on CJ. I was a bit undecided about him but you've allayed some of my fears. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Strikers who rely on strength and running rather than skill. Who aren't the most talented, but will chase lost causes and harass defenders all game and make space for other better players.

Therefore, I expect his role to be similar to the one Kuqi played, a sort of battering ram, which allowed Commons, Cywka and Bueno the room to play.

It took Kuqi about 45 minutes to reach his top speed of 3mph. I think Kuqi is alot more of hold up player like Martin. Where as Jerome will look to make runs in behind and use his pace!

No doubt Kuqi did work hard but not the same type of player for me.

I think you'll be surprised at how good of a player Jerome is, he's more than just a hard worker!

I remember Kuqi as being fairly mobile for a big centre forward, more so than Martin or Steve Howard type of target man who rely on other players to do the running for them (maybe I'm wrong, he only played a few games for us!).

I like Jerome and expect him to do a decent job this season. I remember him causing Albentosa all sorts of problems at Carrow Road a few seasons ago.

Yeah from my memories of Kuqi, he reminded me alot of Steve Howard,

Maybe, I'm the one that's wrong!

Let's hope, here's to promotion !

He might not be Troy Deeney but I have a very nice feeling that he might link VERY well with Vydra. That "bullying" you refer to is very apt. There is a certain type of big mobile CF that make a CB's life a nightmare even if they aren't scoring.

Very clever little player, according to Paul Lambert one of the best finisher's he has seen, just needs to leave Norwich and move somewhere permanently to fulfill some of his undoubted potential.

Went to Swindon very unfit, due mostly to us not having a reserve team, don't judge him on 1 goal in 12 though, unless you actually know what you are talking about because he only started 6 games and was often played as an attacking mid / second striker.

Is also a free kick specialist. Have no idea how you lot like to play football but I hope for your and Martin's sake it is with the ball on the floor and not pumping long balls up field because you have signed the wrong player if you want somebody to chase every lost ball or to win balls in the air.... his strength is clever link up play and final ball, needs the ball at his feet.

No doubt you are getting a fitter Chris Martin than Swindon did, wouldn't be surprised if he bangs in a few goals for you between now and the end of the season if he is there for that long.

What the kid really needs is to leave on a permanent and play week in week out, the best we've seen him is under Lambert in League One alongside Holt.... 23 goals and 8 assists that season. Struggled the next season in the Championship with injuries but respectable nonetheless that season as we won promotion. Played 30 times in our promotion season, although a lot off of the bench as Simeon Jackson was lethal in the second half of that season.

Hope he makes a decent impression at Derby and earns himself a permanent move to be honest. No doubt a good Championship player and once he gets a permanent to a Championship club I think he'll show that.

He's a Norwich boy through and through so I wish him nothing but the best, hopefully he'll do enough to earn himself a move to Derby at the end of the year, too clever for League One.

DiCanio may not have been able to get the best out of him, but Lambert did, and in half a season at Palace he may only have scored 7 but he was their top scorer in a team packed full of kids, Palace fans liked the fella.

That's it, have a nice life.

If anyone’s wondering whether @NorwichLad knows what he’s on about, check out this post from February, 2013, when we signed another one of their strikers...

Funnily enough I remember this, and was obviously very glad with Martins contribution. Lets hope for more of the same from Jerome, their records are quite similar although style of play very different.

I think Jerome will give us that extra option when we play teams who come and park the bus. At the moment we need the opposing team to come out to us. We need a bullying type forward to mix things up a bit. Unfortunately, Martin has  no longer got the attacking midfielders to run through on to his subtle lay offs.

Really chuffed to have CJ join us. I view him the same way as I did Nuge, Curtis, Hudds and Ledley. Enough class and gas to fire us to the prem and therefore shrewd signings for the respective outlays. I'd be certain CJ will get goals for us and I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up starting as many games as not. Also, not sure there'd be many better headers of a ball in the division which will help us not only in goal terms, but also to ensure we remain the stingiest defence about, especially where our prior achilles is concerned - free-kicks and corners. He'll also work his proverbials off for the team and lead by example so it's a big 'Welcome to Derby' from me.

This is quite a good description... Jerome gives defenders quite a lot to think about because he's strong enough to hold up the ball, but also quick enough to flick the ball around them.

Plus he has scored quite a lot with his head by being good at losing his marker in dead ball situations.  Quite an intelligent player really, I'd describe him as a 'streetwise' player perhaps more than 'clever' if that makes sense.

Oh and Leeds fans hate him, so that will add some spice to any fixture you have with them!

TBH mate I am hopeless in the knowledge stakes of "other teams player" I get a bit OCD watching ours but in every game there is usually one that stands out, you can't help noticing either a good first touch, one who runs willingly when nothing's on or those burley athletes with a bit of everything .. Then the old Amber light starts flashing "danger man" and CJ has always struck me as one of those so many thanks .. And I've enjoyed your analytical honest posts ...ta

A couple of things @NorwichLad you must have broken the forum record for the most likes, claps and cheers in one day. Well done.

Secondly I think it was you who came on when we signed Chris Martin from you and told us he was a good player. If it was you then I will take your good judgement seriously and look forward to watching Jerome play.
