Yeah, we should play an open and fair game against them. Just as soon as they drop that  £90m midfielder

It was an entertaining game. Maybe his idea of entertainment is manure winning comfortably sorry to spoil his entertainment.

Is it just me tat thinks Ollson was poor defensively? Thought he was very good going forward, but seemed to be out of position/no where near his man quite a bit.

Don't want to be negative, but just seen so many people say how good he was last night?

I guess everyone seems to have got what they wanted. Rowett did not want a reply, so brings on those subs.. Typical small time Derby and its fans.. Two nil down, who gives a ****, we’re Derby County and we’re going up!! Well I give a ****.. **** song....

Yet we all seem so happy !!

Whats happened to this club.

I acknowledge the points you are making buddy, but no need to be so tetchy.  Rowett l am sure wants to go to Wembley too, but it wouldn’t be with this squad in a month of Sundays.  Before a ball was kicked you were bemoaning the inclusion of Pearce (our third choice centre back) and Rowett clearly felt Hanson was his best option from the reserves to cover for Ledley’s absence. Martin seems to be out of favour (and perhaps on his way out, therefore being mothballed). Pearce played all right l understand, but Rowett’s mission this season has to be to get us up, and use the Premier League windfall and a further Mel injection to give us the extra quality players we need to feasibly pinch games like last night.  Ultimately we were not good enough last night, but l was pleased to see us go toe to toe with one of the big boys, where in the recent past we looked mentally and tactically weak.

I’d agree for the most part.  Noticed that he was easily outheaded for two of their early goal chances.

And they wonder why everyone hates them. Their fans are *****, their players are *****, their manager is a ****, even their social media person is a ****. It's going to be like this every week if we go up isn't it with the opposition club being disrespectful and the media showing favouritism?

Oh well at least we don't have to play them for the rest of the season. Back to the league we go.

I glad I was sat down for you agreeing with me

There was the 2 Rashford chances where he hit the post, lost him for the header and gave him far too much room in the box for the shot.

Yeah I thought the 5 defenders/ dms - of Carson Keogh pearce Thorne Hudds were fine ... it was the attacking players that really lacked quality and kept coughing up balls needlessly. Championship level stuff. We go up and we need to surround Vyds with way better, more skilled players. Just my five cents. Masons little cruyff turn to win the free kick was nice.

Agreed.. Vydra needs a target man to play with so we missed nugent or martin . Winnall did ok , but it was up front where United showed their class with Lukaku rash ford and co.

It took a class goal to beat Carson. With a few minutes left we were beginning to believe at least a replay. Some may say fixture congestion but I’d have said a replay would not have been a ridiculous notion at all. I’ve not seen any red work colleagues yet but I’m sure the ‘genuine’ among them will pay us due credit.

Not saying for one minute that the Fizzy Cup has distracted Bristol City but their last couple of league results may suggest it’s possible. That could work in our favour now too. Onwards and upwards. Feeling positive today despite the defeat.

You are not on your own. I feel he sometimes isn't good going forward.  He got into some great positions last night but we didn't score from any of them. I am not sure he will improve either. Shame because attacking he is almost there.

I’m somewhere in between you and Angry. I just can’t get all happy clappy when bottom line - we lost. All this head held high/focus on league stuff I’ll measure when we play Birmingham and the game after. If we now smash these teams then fair enough to compromising here.

They chose their best lineup we chose a slightly weakened one and cest la vie. I’d have liked to see the regular pairing of Vyds and Nuge but GR wanted to rest some. Don’t think Fozzy for Olsson or a riskier pearce for Davies was that detrimental a change but to move Lawrence central was to experiment and weaken our attack. It also meant that two players clearly bereft of premier league quality - Weimann and Russell - were our 2 wide options. Winnall is a finisher but not that strong otherwise. Lack of quality showed in mistakes decisions and final touches/ball skills when in the final third (Rowett conceded as much post match). So I agree with your assessment : that Rowett did the best with the players he’s got and proved he will need better players to truly compete but concur with AR that we could and prob should have set out stronger. Yes it was a brave showing but Man U are a stuttering PL team who were there for the taking and we didn’t take them. We move on.

I don’t mind not being good enough. That’s football.

Its the rest that hacks me off.  Small minded fans who think they are the bollx singing ***** songs.

Happy we lost a fair few of them  Not fans in my book

We (or Vyds) don’t need target men per se, we just need Salahs Firminhos Lallanas Manes ... Agueros Alexis’s or a younger more skilled Version of Nugent ... skilled attackers with pace who can turn defenders. I would imagine Timo Werner is his dream striker. Someone like that.

Reflections on my Manchester United away  day experience.

Positives

  • Great ticket prices, thanks to Mel, much appreciated
  • Roadrider got us there very early, so plenty of time for a look around
  • It's a club and a ground steeped in tradition and history
  • Stewards and staff were all well-trained and friendly
  • Not so attractive from outside but once inside it's a great bowl for watching football
  • Our team and the way they played, didn't panic and kept trying to do what they'd practiced in training even when it seemed like the waves of attacks were relentless; weathering those and looking dangerous in our counter-attacks
  • Our support - loud and proud!

Negatives

  • Didn't feel a sense of them v us at all pre-match from the fans
  • All their banners were very corporate around the ground. 'George Best - simply the best' - I agree, but do I need the club to tell me so or would I prefer a home-made flag from someone who's actually seen him play?
  • Ridiculous rule on bags - they scanned us all anyway so why did they have to be so small?
  • Their fans spitting and throwing coins at us when they finally scored in 83rd minute (luckily not me but reported by friends to right hand side of our fans. )
  • Police bus escort for coaches after game that took us about 5 yards and left us to sit in traffic for nearly an hour
  • The Old Trafford roar that never really got going - was expecting more from them, really
  • The result, because we got so close to keeping them out at least and maybe even sneaking a winner. Even though we don't need the extra match, was so disappointed at the end not to get something out of the game
  • That despite all the above, it still felt like a 'special' occasion for me, so at some level I have bought into the Manchester United hype!

Pretty certain they have to play glory glory man utd over the tannoy to make up for the lack of atmosphere ..  also didnt the 90mil  man miss an absolute sitter

just watched the highlights after going to the game maybe we were a bit too honest and someone should have taken a yellow when lukaku got the ball on the break for the second goal

Possibly, I remember play off first leg against Hull and them scoring on the break for the third after Olson tried to hold the player up instead of giving away a cynical foul..sometimes you have to take one for the team.  Hindsight is a wonderful thing though

Sith Happens

Have seen the Derby Goal now, can see why it wasnt on the highlights.

Assume Keogh was offside (hes not visible in the video), then the cross goes in and the united player tries to catch the ball and it goes in the net.

Small minded fans annoy me too.  Equally frustrating is that diehards like me couldn’t get BET 365 to work, and to top it the recliner on my chair was playing up last night.  We all have our crosses to bear.
