If you went off forums then no player gets a chance ?

Exactly - we'd struggle to put eleven out on that basis. Make up with kids in the following match but then a couple of games later they'd be getting the bird.

wisdom and Boyd and either Ledley or Readings Danny Williiams and that will do it for me

Depends who goes out. If we lose Ince and Hughes, who's going to create that bit of magic which produces a goal?

We struggled at times last season. We need a plan of attack on how to utilise Nugent, Martin and Vydra. Even Bent.

I'm looking for replacements for Bryson and Butterfield. Watkins could be one. We need another dynamic midfielder who can spark the team and take an extra defender out of position.

Jason mccarthy 21 southampton is a full back / centre back, physically strong. Has just spent a full season on loan at walsall at full back. Seems to prefer full back atm. Scored a few goals. Described as 'outstanding'. Chased by sheffield united. Has one year left on his contract. Can cover more than one position. Is not going to want to go back to u23 football after the year he has had. Southampton may be tempted to sell. The championship is the next logical step for him.

Liam Lindsay 21 partick thistle . left footed centre back. Emerging talent in scotland. Physiclly strong. 6 foot 4. Good first touch. Good in the air. Scored a few goals. Under contract until summer 2019. linked with Leeds united and promoted bolton. Rated at @£750k. Being tipped for a Scotland call up.

Grant ward 22 ipswich. Previously on loan with rotherham and originally with spurs. Versatile. Can play as a winger. Can play no10. Has played right wing back and left wing back. Has settled into an central attacking midfield role. Right footed. Scored quite a few from 25 yards +.  “Wardy’s been a really big star for us over the season, to be honest,” McCarthy said. “I think he’s played really well and played in a number of positions".

Callum robinson 22 preston. Formerly with aston villa. Two footed wide striker. Fast. Tricky. Described by Paul Lambert as a natural finisher. Has played for england at every level up to u20. Preston claim there was strong interest in him in january transfer window. “I’ve enjoyed playing as a striker and scoring a few goals. “I like playing anywhere across the front, whether it is down the middle or out on the wing supplying others.”

Ben Brereton 18 forest. Outstanding prospect. Timing is everything if we are to have any chance of signing him. A big bid now might be favourable to the new owner as he is apparently stalling on a new contract with forest. Leave it and he will be off to the Prem.however he surely won't want to go back to reserve football.  Strong. Direct. Good option for a player or players plus cash exchange. Forest need players. We need to get grid of players. An exchange solves the 'don't sell to Derby' problem.  Plays up front but looks like a handfull and a possible attacking midfielder to me.

Having watched our feeble performance v rotherham away where the attacking midfield quartet of ince, bryson, johnson, and russell produced virtually nothing, i would hope that ward, brereton, and robinson with hughes and ince could develop nicely. We need to build with young players around Hughes in my opinion. But if we do lose hughes then ryan ledson is a good option. I'd keep the lynch pins of keogh, thorne, hughes, and nugent or martin to build a new team around.

ryan ledson 19 oxford, formerly with everton. Very highly rated midfield prospect. Left everton to get more opportunities to play which shows great attitude. Needed to develop physically in order to progress which is just a matter of time. EFL Young Player of the Month for February. Will represent England at the Under-20 World Cup.

6 is more than enough in one transfer window.

Jason mccarthy signed for Barnsley.

All the talk of Hughes and Ince going doesn't necessarily bother me too greatly.

It's undoubtedly the case that eleven players on the same wavelength whose strengths are in playing to the system applied are more effective.

Hughes is exceptionally gifted and the rest of the team are not up to his wavelength.  Dare I say that, despite being a fan of him, Bradley Johnson will never be on his wavelength.

The other aspect is style of play.  Again, if we are looking for a high energy pressing game with quick passing, Tom Ince doesn't strike me a the best player for that role.  Yes, he has many qualities, but they may not be the ones we need.

I have a screwdriver where you can change the head and it's great for many things, but not if I want to open a tin of beans...

I get your point completely but what I want to know is who are the players in the current squad, other than Hughes and Ince, who have the skill and nous to open up defences rather than just running around?

Yea, Ince just creates loads of assists and scores most of our goals from the wing...who needs qualities like that in a free scoring team like the Rams....goals coming out of our ears...

Neat one touch passing and movement doesn't necessarily need loads of skill.

If you get the ball pushed into Martin, with Nugent, Bryson, Johnson and Russell all making runs, space will be created to generate chances.

Quick passing and movement tops having a reliance on a star player for me.

Don't get me wrong, both Hughes and Ince are fantastic players, but if we're adopting a cut-price gegenpressing style, they are square pegs in round holes.

Butters, Hughes, bryson, thorne. Pretty much everyone apart from Johnson, he's just a pure battering ram when he gets going

We've found out that you can't have a team of 11 footballers. When the going gets tough there's no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck, which is why you need a few battlers in there.

With Gary rowett, the side will be based mostly on athletic battlers, and, conversely, you can't have a team of 11 athletes. If your against a stalwart defense there's only so much physical attributes will get you, you'll need at least a few players who are given the freedom to roam and create. Of our current squad only hughes, ince and Martin have proven they can unlock tight defences. I'm not against selling them for the right fee, but to sell them and replace them with battlers would be stupid.

There has to be a balance between workmanship and creativity.
